I am extremely happy with this school. The principal is outstanding and truly cares about the students and families. The staff is professional, supportive, and always welcoming.
My children have consistently achieved A and B honor roll, and they have been actively involved in the math and science programs, as well as the STEM and EIP programs. The school provides excellent academic opportunities that help students grow and succeed.
We are also proud that my childrens artwork has been displayed at the PWC art show for several years. That experience has meant a lot to our family and shows how the school encourages creativity and talent.
Overall, this is a wonderful school, and I am very grateful for everything they do for the students.

This school is dangerous because the teachers either don't care or they are afraid of the sudents. My kids tell me that the students take over the classroom and use profanity and the teachers just let it happen with no concern for the few students who actually want to learn. There have been multiple gang activity related incidents and the front office staff are rude and unhelpful. The bathrooms smell like kids have been vaping in them. My kids cry sometimes knowing they have to spend another day at this school. Its really sad. Lake Ridge Middle School is much better.

Our son has been been in PWC schools since Kindergarten. The elementary schools are pretty good, the middle schools are not bad, the high schools have too much ruckus. We are putting our kid in private school starting in the 7th grade. Well miss the convenience of Rippon, but we want to get his foot in the door for a better school for high school.

My overall experience at Rippon Middle School, from grades 6-7, has been HORRIBLE. Between the teachers and staff, students, and even the principal, has just gotten out of hand. Students just constantly argue and fight over the LITTLEST things, for absolutely NO REASON! and also with the smoking and vaping, drives me crazy! It smells BADLY and kids here think it's a flex or cool, but in reality, ITS NOT! the couples here, also drive me INSANE! like just come too school, and be normal human beings, and not trying to act like your grown! There are many more reasons, but theses are the main ones. *If your a parent/guardian trying to look for a middle for your child, in Prince William County, (PWCS), DO NOT, I MEAN DO NOT! CHOSE RIPPON MIDDLE SCHOOL!

Horrible. Just horrible. My son had the worst experience at this school. No one cares about the children in the school obviously when my son comes home scared from school everyday. Spoke about the situation of my kid multiple times to the school and no action taken whatsoever. Shameless. Keep your kids out of this school

From My last review, I Remembered how much WORSE Rippon was. I forgot that their was a VAPING problem as well. Which is VERY disturbing. I've been to this school. And not even KNOWING this stuff has happened before really grinds my gears. It's good the school year is ending. Because I am NEVER bringing my child into this school AGAIN. It seems like they only do good in sped ed.

This is the worse school ever, kids are doing so much by selling vapes and lashes candies etc and the school cant stop it, they cant even find out where is it coming from, and then they punish girls when they try to defend them selves when boys try to hit them by the way on my daughter birthday gave my daughter a 2 referrals for defending her self and for trying to call me to come to get her with from the assistant of the principal , they are so unfair in this school and the assistant principal lied straight at my face also making faces how to expect for these kids to behave if all what u do not being the exemple and try to get a right way how to love the school instead of all what u do punish them everytime, them kids will be more wild because this is middle school and not elementary, its a lot going on in this school Im moving my kid to a different school, because my kid start having so much stress and seeing a therapist. Careful with bringing ur kids to Rippon middle school. Too many fights and staff not fair they cause so much stress to the kids also staff curse the kids with bad words.

Not really a good school. There are a lot of fights and a lot of the staff dont do anything. The food is sometimes raw/under cooked. There are many bullies at this scho as well as vaping, smoking, and drugs. A lot of kids and some of the teachers do not follow the pwcs code of behavior. Please save yourself from misery and dont go bring your kids to this school its garbage.

My child attended Rippon Middle School from the 6th grade on through the 8th grade and thoroughly enjoyed going there. As a parent I believe the school has a lot of potential, especially since it offers the Math and Science (M&S) program which gives the school an educational boost and really challenges the students in the program.

The teachers are well educated, very knowledgeable, and seem excited about teaching; in addition, they are actively involved in a host of after school activities. I was surprised by all the field trips, events, clubs available to the students, in addition to the sports, band, and orchestra.

Leadership is calm and steady. I would like there to be more communication or information shared between RMS parents and counselors in navigating students through middle school life and into high school.

My child attended Rippon Middle School from the 6th grade on through the 8th grade and thoroughly enjoyed going there. As a parent I believe the school has a lot of potential, especially since it offers the Math and Science (M&S) program which gives the school an educational boost and really challenges the students in the program. I believe at least four students in the M&S program were selected to attend Thomas Jefferson High School this fall (2017). However, even within the M&S program improvements could be made to integrate technology into the curriculum, making it a full STEM program. I was surprised to find out one year that some students at the school did not have at least one technology course on their schedule the entire year. Yet, there were questionable or filler courses like: Reading Strategies and Math Strategies for M&S students. That time could be used to teach technical skills or at least integrate technology into the math and science curriculum in a meaningful way that allows for practical hands-on experience. The benefit of graduating from RMS is that M&S students have the opportunity to earn 2-3 high school credits (Pre-AP Algebra I, Pre-AP Geometry, and Spanish I).
Administratively this school could do better. The website still has content on it from the 2015-2016 school year. The administrators are more reactive than proactive and could do better on a personal level at providing parents with the tools and information to be more active in navigating their child's educational progress/path. Also as parent watch out: if your child is not having problems in this school they could become invisible to the counselor, and overlook for educational opportunities.
Overall the school is good, and very (yes, very) diverse. Academically it could compete with Porter/Pennington Traditional Schools if it just had higher academic expectations for all students not just those in the M&S program.

The more advanced math classes like Pre-AP Algebra I and Pre-AP Geometry use the reverse classroom, which allows the student to watch a video at home to get and understanding of the lesson, and then practice at school with the teacher.

Not sure that is the schools responsibility alone, the majority of the effort in developing honesty and integrity belongs to the parent. I do believe the school is fair in how it treats its students.

My son has been at this school for three years and I have nothing but positive things to say about the Administration, Teachers, and staff at this school. My son does not handle change well and the move from elementary school to middle school was extremely hard for him. I asked the guidance counselor for help and they couldn't do enough to help him adjust. I see the Principal at all the events I've attended at the school from choral concerts to track meets and science fairs. I see the Vice Principal at many of these events as well. I have found the teachers to be encouraging and engaging. They believe in the students and what they can accomplish. My son will be finishing 8th grade with three high school credits thanks to their excellent Math/Science program. He'll have two math credits and a foreign language credit. My oldest is a senior now and applying to colleges and I assure you in this competitive world, starting high school with three course credits completed is a great advantage.

So glad I got my kid out of this school. He is doing so much better now emotionally. He loves his new school and all the nice kids.
Posted: January 28, 2014
The Principal and Assistant principals are not performing professional as leaders. I have not seen the Principal on any concerts. The Assistant Principal seems to be busy with his own problems and not focussed on children at the concert. He stayed at the corner and did not approach any student and parent to express appreciation of what kids were doing on the stage. I would not recognize him as an administrator if my son told me that this is not a janitor holding the keys to the building. Shame. He did not approach any student for encouragement. I did not see him talking to the music director either. Shame

Rippon Middle School is a great school because of its special programs. I get that the school has bad students but if you apply to the specialty program then they would not be with bad student. ( i am in the program)
