Very mixed about this school. I am currently in my senior year and I've had an interesting time. On the positive side, the teachers are incredible (especially arts and AP teachers) and the level of learning is top notch. Educationally I feel very prepared for college. On the more negative side, Woodbridge teachers give an insane amount of homework. I'm only taking five classes (granted, four of them are APs) this year and I've done about fifteen hours worth of homework this week. Also, the guidance counselors are borderline useless. I feel bad saying that, because they're really nice, but they are really not helpful. The administration could not care less about the affairs of students, even when things get to emotionally extreme levels. There is very little care given to the circumstances of students outside of school. This is reflected in the late to school policy. Furthermore, why are the bathrooms ALWAYS locked? It's been especially bad this year. It's bad for both boys and girls bathrooms but it is significantly worse for boys. I understand that they want to prevent vaping in school, but shutting down bathrooms also prevents (or at least makes inconvenient) many other things including bodily functions. It also doesn't prevent vaping whatsoever. Kids are gonna vape. Also, the security system needed to enter the school is a good idea, but doesn't work. not even slightly. Every now and then the sensors will go crazy and start beeping on almost everyone who steps through. This causes students to be greatly delayed in getting to class. Furthermore, there is one administrator who is always calling security on kids for the most random reasons. Never happened to me but he starts yelling at kids over things that do not permit him to do so, and when kids question this, he always calls security. It seems like he is just power-tripping on children. I've tryed to talk to other administrators about this issue but I was repremanded for even questioning his behavior.

I go here and this school sucks. It has roaches in the classrooms, flies in the lunchroom and policies that make no sense. At any given time, at least half of the bathrooms are locked, meaning you have to look around for the closest unlocked one, which is monitored by an adult sitting outside. The phone thing is the governor, but who decided to restrict the bathrooms? It feels like a prison and I get depressed whenever I'm there.

We’ve had an excellent experience here. The principal is engaged and approachable and there are lots of fun opportunities to get involved. Great teachers and some rigorous classes.

This school is great. My child graduated with AP college credits and now, she goes to GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY! I totally believe that your children can do the same and the teachers are supportive most of the time. This is one of the best schools in Prince William County!

Our experiences at WSHS has been great! The teachers, administration, and staff truly care about the students. WSHS is a community based school which is warm and welcoming. The respect for diversity is also shown throughout the school. WSHS did an excellent job with handling COVID and virtual learning. Woodbridge High school's rating should be higher to truly reflect how wonderful the school is. We have been pleased with WSHS and our children have been happy here as well.

Avoid at all costs. The teachers routinely bring politics into the classroom in an extremely biased fashion. The Principal and administration are useless and refuse to address the outright indoctrination occurring in many classes. On top of that, many of the teachers are poor at best; their ability to impart knowledge and motivate students is dismal. All three of my children have attended this school and even they can plainly see the issues.

Woodbridge Senior High School has been an absolutely positive experience for our family. The teachers and administation are phenomenal. They have met the very difficult year of covid with transparency, and adaptation and commitment. The school offers a wide range of clubs and teams for all interests. Ranging from Football to one of the largest (and best) Robotics teams in the state. Being a large school, they are able to offer a full selection of AP classes as well as programs such as Aviation Maintenance, Project Lead the Way (Engineering), and Cosmetology. I would definitely recommend WSHS!

WSHS does a good job with identifying any issues with bullying and will resolve it quickly. Respecting each other and having many activities to bring the school community together really helps to decrease bullying at WSHS.

WSHS is an excellent school! We really like the diversity, community, and welcoming feel of this school. When you walk into the school it feels warm, accepting, and a sense of belongingness. My son really enjoys it and we do as well. WSHS is an older school but continues to have the legacy that makes it stand out. There are updates to the school that are beginning to happen such as a new stadium starting in January. The principal, Mrs. Abney is absolutely amazing and encourages the students everyday to be their best. Her leadership and committment to the school environment has increased the morale of the school tremendously. In addition, WSHS just received the School of Excellence award! We are so proud of WSHS students, leadership, and staff for this huge accomplishment! I can’t say enough great things about this wonderful school!

The teachers send updates via email to parents when assignments are due and upcoming assessments. This communication tool is helpful. The flex periods give the students an opportunity to complete work and get extra assistance if necessary.

WSHS is a great school!!! There are a lot of structural things that need to be done, but there is a group of parents that are working very hard to get these issues fixed, by going to school board meetings. I do know the past years at WSHS has been poorly manged by past administrations (Huckstein was the poorest principal and did nothing to better the school, but somehow our children along with some fabulous teachers got through those years). We now have Ms. Abney and she has made the most positive changes and has the school back on track to achieve goals. It is on its way to being one of the best schools in Va. if you have the chance to visit and meet Ms. Abney you will know that this is the school for your children.

The principal Mrs. Abney that has been there for the past two years has been very productive and cheering on all efforts in all areas to inspire strong character in the students that attend. She is someone that has integrity, compassion and treats everyone with respect and when you have someone that is that committed to make everyone feel included, it shows all across the school like a bright light. Their approach to homework is work should be able to be completed in the 90 mins they have together. They are also given flex periods to allow for those who need help to go to that class.

This school is community oriented and has wonderful traditions from a 50 year history. The new principal is Ms. Heather Abney, she was just what was need here. The guidance department has also had a change of leadership. The school continues to have amazing teachers. They are the heart of the school as well as all the students. The engineering program, Project Lead the Way is outstanding. There are numerous clubs, but the Robotics club is definitely a stand out with their winning history. The Marching Band and the Vikettes Dance Team have always had award winning seasons, each receiving top honors. All the sports are well represented. the football games are well attended and enjoyed by the students with incredible school spirit demonstrated at the Friday night home games. Most sports make it to the conference tournaments and some conference championships. A hidden gem, is the ice hockey team at this school, they lost in the state championship last year. In general, a very well rounded school.

Made many memories here. Unfortunately some not so great, but some will change my life. For the most part, very supporting and helpful of the LGBTQ+ community. Unless you seek help by yourself for college, you won't recieve any. Football games are very spirited, a lot of school pride. And I agree with the others, it is money hungry and overpopulated. Because they plan to move the CFPA program it likely will change. Teachers typically go against county rules, the homework rule in specific. You are only supposed to have 30 minutes of homework per class, including AP, and I often find myself spending up to 2 hours on certain subjects. I can't imagine how rough it is on student athletes. Certain faculty show care towards you, but favoritism is evident. On a more positive note, they do their best to make school a fun experience. Many extracurriculars and sports, as well as events and fundraisers that are enjoyable. Very clique-y at times. Each group of friends is very divided and rarely blend. Again, if you play sports you'll be worshipped, it's evident that if you spend your time as a scholar you are under appreciated. I have one year left at the school, and educationally it's extraordinary. I promise it's an amazing learning space. Socially is where issues arise. I will return to update is anything changes.

Guidance counselors are foolish, unintelligent, and unhelpful. They are lazy, careless, and lack motivation to help students with the college process. I have had few memorable teachers and overall they have been nothing special. There is a lack of attention towards students who are not star athletes. There is a high demand for money here, and students are required to pay fees for required classes, transcripts, and everything in between. Huckestein is the poorest excuse for a principle in the entire county and cares only about how well his sons are treated in the school. The only positive thing to say about this school are the memories I've made, my friends, and close relationships with a select few teachers. Otherwise, avoid if possible.

I graduated from WSHS last year and have to say there are no "pods" yes the school is over populated but it has yet to cause any sort of problem. The guidance councelors are not great. They seem to lack motivation and did not help me in any way when it came to picking classes, writing college essays, essays to receive scholarships, or anything SAT/ACT related. Most of the teachers on the other hand are so incredibly helpful, it is rare to find a teacher that won't let you retake tests/quizzes or stay after for tutoring. Over all a great school, change the guidance counselors and it would be the best in Prince William County.

Comments about administration not caring or listening to parents are spot on. Have had two graduate from WSHS with more following. Won't send the others there. They won't even follow county policies. WSHS does not want parents involved. On a positive, if you child is a star football player you'll be treated like royalty.

Woodbridge Senior High School has disappointed me. We were impressed with what it had to offer when we moved here but have found the school only looks good on paper. I highly advise you to avoid this school if your child will transfer in from another high school out of state/country. We came from a DoDEA school in Germany. The school guidance/ administration is not educated in this type of transfer. Mostly the SOL requirements have confused them. It's been tough. My children registered for JROTC and were extremely active. We have become more and more disappointed in this program. The leadership doesn't follow school guidelines for field trips and basic safety. They also lack in any type of mentoring.

Woodbridge has been a very good High School for my Daughter, and she has attended two other highly rated High Schools listed in Great Schools. Due to my prior Military career (now retired), my Daughter had to transfer twice. With Woodbridge being her last School, she was still able to maintain her high grades and have a diverse group of friends that she likes. The Teachers,Staff and curriculum have all been great!
