I am extremely happy with this school. The principal is outstanding and truly cares about the students and families. The staff is professional, supportive, and always welcoming.

My children have consistently achieved A and B honor roll, and they have been actively involved in the math and science programs, as well as the STEM and EIP programs. The school provides excellent academic opportunities that help students grow and succeed.

We are also proud that my children’s artwork has been displayed at the PWC art show for several years. That experience has meant a lot to our family and shows how the school encourages creativity and talent.

Overall, this is a wonderful school, and I am very grateful for everything they do for the students.

I really want to thank Miss McGregor for her great work .

We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Leesylvania Elementary School community. The school is led by a long-term, seasoned principal who is deeply involved at both the strategic and day-to-day levels. Her leadership extends beyond the school itself — she serves as a lead interviewer for Prince William County Schools and personally helps select the best teachers for Leesylvania, ensuring a consistently high standard of excellence.

Academically, the school offers strong rigor across all subjects, pushing students to reach their full potential in a supportive environment. The school community is active, welcoming, and highly involved, regularly hosting wonderful family events such as Movie Night, Math Night, Literacy Night, and STEM Night. These events not only bring families together but also reinforce the school’s commitment to both academic achievement and community spirit.

One of the standout features is the school's dedicated STEM lab, which is fully equipped with 3D printers and the latest technologies. Innovation is thoughtfully woven into the curriculum, giving students hands-on experiences that inspire curiosity and a love for learning.

Leesylvania Elementary truly sets a high bar for what an elementary school should be. We couldn’t be happier to have our daughters here - including our graduating 5th grader who’s has been here since kindergarten!

My two older sons attended Leesylvania Elementary, and we're identified in the Gifted program. They are now in their last year of middle school and have done a phenomenal job and rocked middle school. Leesylvania elementary prepared my boys for the rigors of middle school, and as a result, one of my boys is currently in the math and science program at Rippon. My youngest attends Leesylvania and is currently in his third year as a second grader. Mrs MacGregor is a god send to the school, she and her staff work endlessly to ensure that the students understand the growth mindset and they are constantly working to improve teaching methods and delivering their very best to the students. I believe that being involved in the PTO is key to seeing change and helping the students evolve and stay ready for the educational challenges to come.

This is a great school. My son and daughter went to this school and proceeded to graduate from Middle, High School and college. Thanks to this school.

5th grader has little to no homework. The assignments he has are online. Information is sent via class dojo and I often find out that my son missed an assignment but no reminders that items are due. The teacher is quick to say that it’s not her responsibility to double check that kids are completing assignments.

The 1st grader has a homework packet every week. No issues there.

They are not honest about your child’s progress please go to all meeting and ask for extra conferences and make them show you the grade book.

The principal does not believe in early intervention, she stated that they typical don’t start reading interventions until kids are three grade levels behind on reading. The VP is easier to approach and more willing to help. Trying to get help for a child with a learning disability is difficult and a lengthy process. If you child needs extra assistance either pick another school or visit the school often to fight for your child’s education.

This is not the school, you will have to spend long hours, many phone calls, and office visits to get the assistances your child needs. Please pick another school.

Poor. My child wasn’t properly assessed, we often received notice of problems right before summer break and you have to go through a long process for them to re access the child (though they told you the child has a problem) just to not provide a IEP or 504 plan. Please find another school if your child has a learning disability. If this is not a challenge for your child, you will be okay.

I have two boy that attend this school one in kindergarten and fourth grade. am seeing a lot a improvement, I wish they can make this school go up to 8 grade. the teachers are great the principle is wonderful, she is always out there with the kids smiling playing, my kids are always happy to go to school I see a great difference in my kids.

Not sure why this school is rated the way it is. I have two sons that attend school there; one in kindergarten and one in fourth grade. The teachers are amazing and my children love going to school. My oldest had a small issue with bullying and the administration quickly stopped it from progressing.

My son transferred into Leesylvania Elementary School about midway through the school year due to my husbands job relocating us. My son loved to go to school at his previous school, he never had any complaints and looked forward to going again in the morning. When we transferred to Leesylvania, within a week, all of that changed. The teachers would yell at the students instead of using more gentle tactics. His teacher kept telling us he needed summer school. At his previous school, our son was performing where he should be in reading and writing. When he received his state assessment we were then told he scored to high for summer school. This just shows me that his teacher was incompetent. We also had a bully problem, so I called the principle. My son had been punched in the face, spit on, and sat on in a matter of a three week period. The principle told me the student who was doing the bullying has had this issue with other students in the past. I asked what he was going to do about it and he said we will just separate them when we can. That never happened and the bullying continued. The staff in the office at this school are rude without cause. I went in to register my son and was greeted with "what do you want?" I hadn't said a word yet and this was the morning greeting. It would be one thing if this was an isolated incident but this happened on many occasions. Once I called in for my sons transcripts so we could transfer him to a better school and the women put me on hold mid sentence, without even letting me know she was going to do so. My husband went in to speak with them at one point and they gave him the same reception. The staff is unfriendly, the teachers are incompetent, the principle was unhelpful, and from what we can tell, our sons education suffered greatly. If I could give zero stars for this school I would. If you live in this district, go somewhere else. I promise you, you will regret sending your child to this place.

My daughter attends this school and she absolutely loves it. The teachers seem very attentive and caring. They also seem to have a lot of programs that other schools don't. I like the principal and vice principal both seem involved in the school.

I used to attend Leesylvania Elementary as a student and was enrolled there for 6 years! I absolutely loved it there. My experience with my peers, teachers, and with the school its self was a type of experience that I would want my children to go through. The school keeps the students entertained from the moment they enter and exit the classrooms. The teachers are extremely caring towards their students and makes sure that they are teaching what need to be taught for the upcoming SOL's (grades 3rd-5th). I have really excelled from being at this school, I was constantly getting good grades and passing every SOL. Some people might have different opinions then me because they might not of had the teachers I did. I recommend this school to anyone who might be looking into enrolling at LES. (:

I have two daughters that have attended this school. Every teacher they have had has been awesome! I have definitely seen some improvement in the overall control of the school with our new principal and that was the only concern I used to have. I wouldn't think twice about registering my child here.

LES may have anew principle, but the teachers and staff are so unprofessional. They never accept responsibility for their mistakes. There is no professional dress code. Teachers wearing jeans and flip-flops is not professional at all! The SOL is more inportant than real teaching and education. PWCS administrators need to walk in and access this school. No stars.....just zeros accross the scale.

Our son is attending his second year at Leesylvania. He loved K and we were happy with his performance. 1st grade and off to another great year. New principal this year and were very please with results. We're looking forward to the next few years.

Our child attended this awful school for 1 year. Our child was repeatedly bullied because of a life threatening allergy to peanuts. All allergy kids segregated at lunch time with police tape around a set of tables, and other children were permitted to literally dangle food containing allergens in front of these children. Many complaints to the teacher were blown off as 'kids being kids'. Our child was exposed so many times and had allergic reactions as a result. Teacher was more interested in available dads for her dating excursions rather than the safety of the children. Terrible experience at this school!

My child has attended 4 schools and Leesylvania is at the bottom of the list. Teachers constantly emphasize the Virginia Standards Of Learning (SOL) tests instead of focusing on improving the cognitive capabilities of individual students. Moreover, my child says they watch educational videos and are not allowed to ask questions about subjects because "they can't ask questions on the SOLs." I could understand if the teachers restricted the usage of questions just a couple of weeks before the test, but these students do not have the chance to ask questions all year! I asked the teacher if they were allowed to ask questions, and to my surprise she said "no," They are "preparing them for the SOL!" In today's fiscally constrained environments, I understand that standardized test can be the difference between receiving additional grants and not. Nevertheless, this school has been atrocious all year for its overwhelming concentration on the SOLs instead of the kids, the most important resource we have and the reason it exists in the first place.

We actually should attend Fitzgerald Elementary but where luckily transferred out due to there lack to make AYP. My daughter currently 4th grade never enjoyed school before attending Leesylvania! Now she loves it! The teachers do a great job. Students for 4th & 5th grade have the same teacher for the two consecutive years so they are able to restart immediately and pick up exactly where they left off.

My daughter loves her school, and so do I! Her teacher is so warm and caring. She emails or calls me immediately with any concerns. She recognized her needs for extra support in reading and with the help of the reading resource teacher, she went from well below grade level to at grade level within the first few months! I love the PTA events, the sense of community and belonging, and the genuine concern from almost staff member.

I have watched this school take flight under the current administration. I have live in the community for years and always wondered why Leesylvania struggled, but under the leadership of the current Principal the school has completely turned around! The quality of the teaching staff has gone from not to good to outstanding. The teachers and administration only accept the best from each child and support them in every way possible. Any parent would be thrilled with this school from the first moment they step in to the school.

This school has turned around since the 2000-2003 timeframe. It's grown from a school I wouldn't wish on anyone to a school that anyone would be proud to send their kids to. Yes, as with most schools, there is a teacher or two who we'd rather not have there. However, across the board, we have great teachers and facilities. As a bonus, it's walking distance from our house.

My son is a Kindergarten transfer student from a Texas school. He is a high functioning autistic student. This means I have a lot of interaction with the staff. I am very aware of the quality of the school. This school is top notch. I am very impressed with the care, the involvement, the communication of each and every one of the instructors and administrators. My son is in a mainstream classroom, and they are working at making accommodations for his success. They did not just assume we should put him in the special education class, they are doing what is best for him! I give KUDOS to Leesylvania!!!!

I am the friend of a girl who goes to Leesylvania, and she says it's awful. What's with the Xs on the floor in the cafeteria, and if you don't go on them in order you get a referral?! That's a LAME excuse to give someone a referral, if you ask me.
