The principal Crystal Hanger held my childrens transcripts for a month, preventing them from enrolling in another school. When I called and pointed out that it was against the law, she claimed she didnt know and suddenly released them.
How are you working in education as an adult and dont fully understand the laws and responsibilities that come with your position? Schools constantly tell students to read to understand and research to learn, but the adults in charge should be held to the same standard.
Do better. It is a ghetto habit to not read and understand the contracts you are giving before you sign.

Met approximately 60 students from this school yesterday at Shenandoah National Park. In my 25 years of educating kids I have never met a bigger bunch of disrespectful students and teachers that did not pay them any attention or redirect them. I witnessed these kids throw glass bottles at Blackrock Summit, .5 - 1 pound rocks across the Summit with no regards for anyone's safety. The teaches witnessed thos and said nothing. It's a huge disappointment to witness this treasure be disrespected, i expected more from our teachers and students in VA.

I dont feel as if every kid was treated fairly like they pick and choose which kids they want to target . My son felt like he was looked down on by some some members of the administration staff. I was not pleased with the demeanor of most the staff on certain occasions. They did not proved adequate mental health for those who really needed it .

What a wonderful high school. Caring and inclusive staff, rigorous academics. Students are held to high standards and are offered amazing opportunities. Wilson is wonderful!

It wasnt the greatest, this is majorly because of the staff. I was not a problematic student, yet was treated like I deserved no respect from the staff. Many of the office staff always seemed to have a bad day, or have an attitude when it came to needing something from them, so oftentimes students would be forced to figure it out themselves in result of fear. Do better... PLEASE. Students are at your school to learn, not tip-toe around the staff in fear of being scolded or chastised.

Ive been to several different schools and I can easily say that this school cares more about meeting deadlines and grades rather than the learning aspect of things.

Just like any other school, there are some good eggs and there are some bad eggs. Sometimes you can just tell that the teacher hates students, and cannot wait to retire. Frankly, these students deserve better. You cannot go around acting like you are doing them a favor for giving them the bare minimum and treating them anything other than an equal.

Bullying was easy for the bullies at this school, racial slurs would get thrown around from a day to day basis. The only way this school tries to interject good character into students is to beat them down by degrading words and punishments before actually fixing anything.

There is one main principle and one assistant principal. The assistant principal seems to always have been prowling for something to scold children for, she seemed more like a game warden than anything.

It can be so much better, I feel so sorry for those teachers in those rooms, they hardly have enough help and seem to never have a grip on the students.

Nobody wants to fix the issue, they just want to either brush it aside to avoid the paperwork or scold students.

Not a single positive experience. My son is constantly pulled from class and threatened to be dissenrolled over requiring proof of address EVERY 6 months! That means we have to bring in a copy of the same lease and have it notarized every six months. It is a terrible learning environment and the leadership is rude and ineffective.

This school was terrible. Personally I dealt with depression throughout high school and was consistently bullied. Whenever I looked for help from anyone, there was none to be found. They only were concerned about their academics which were subpar and certainly inadequate.

No doubt Wilson Memorial is the best high school in the county - that's what scares me. The school offers a whopping 3 AP options for juniors and seniors, AP US History, AP English 12, and AP Government. Not only this, but their AP classes are overkill. I used to be in all AP and Pre-AP in middle school, and never have I had to read 37 books for English 11AA- not even AP. You'll get 2-3 hours of AP US History homework piled on top of that. All other classes (regular - only option) are more like elementary - all arts and crafts. The administration strives for us to act like adults, yet we are treated like children. We can't even walk around in the morning - we are forced to cramp ourselves into a hallway until 8:00 - giving us 13 minutes of free time (So much for using the library). People get suspended for bringing cinnamon to school, smooshing a bagel on somebody, etc. The teachers are overly nice, pushovers, but unfortunately do not care about the education we are receiving. Needless to say I'm transferring so I can take all AP again. That is what colleges are looking for anyways.
