This school has continually been the breeding grounds for local community violence, brought upon us by uncontrolled bullying,both cyber and physical. The staffs continual disregard, and lack of compassion and lack of correct protocols, are a disgrace to what we as humans entrust our dept. Of education and local facility faculty to manage our children's education and safety while under their watch. Most kids who attend this school will tell you about the bullying and uncontrolled physical violence that happens on a daily basis.
My own child now states she is unsure as to whether she is safe at school or not, due to the faculty and RO Officers lack of engagement, and not acknowledging the issues at hand.
My opinion is simple, if you want your child to just go to "daycare" per say. Where no one effectively manages their education or well being, then this schools the place for you. If your a fellow human, that wants the best opportunity for your child, both educationally and mentally, then please take them elsewhere, or for that matter teach them yourselves. But most importantly equip them with a properly functioning moral compass, and how to treat every other life as if it were theirs.
For many many years ALMS has allowed these situations to occur, mostly swept under the rug, until proper parents have came forward and pursued some sort of difference.
Salem wake up!!!! Be the difference! Help lead our youth the proper direction!

So far I cant complain. My son likes it. I like it. Hes a 6th grader making awesome grades and is coming out of his shell. Hoping and praying for the best for him and all the students.

Our Daughter is only in the 6th grade and we haven't seen any signs of bullying yet. The school seems to have programming in-place to educate the students about bullying and how to deal with it.

First year completed at the school, all the teachers are great! They are more old school they actually seem to have a genuine interest in teaching and cares about the children. One off the higher rated school system in Virginia. My child enjoys school, his teachers, and honor roll student. The office staff has always been nice and helpful. I am not sure about any bullying issues, never had an issue.

This is a great school. Good teachers and the administration is wonderful. They are very professional and handle problems well. We've had a very positive experience.

I was worried about the transition from Elementary to ALMS. I felt the school did a wonderful job of announcing and preparing my child for orientation. I appreciated that there is very little interaction between the grades as each grade level gets their own hall/ floor. I am a fairly proactive parent so I emailed teachers regularly, but I do think the "sharpies" team my child was on could have communicated better. Email is such a easy way for communication, I would have liked more emails from the teachers. If I did request a parent teacher conference, I was quickly accommodated by the staff.

My experience (7 years) with ALMS has been nothing but positive. The teachers and administrators were attentive and addressed any of my concerns, as a parent, right away. They also communicated effectively with my children at their level and with their unique personalities. I have had 3 children go through ALMS and the Salem City Schools from K-12. Kudos to a wonderful school system! Grateful parent.

Education wise the school seems all right thus far. The major problem is that the communication between parents and the school is non-existent. They solely rely on you googling them to get answers to any questions you might have. Or following them on facebook to get any information regarding the school. No school calendar was issued, no papers from the school telling you of upcoming activities, registration, even open house.

Well it was an ok school but bullying has been an issue I won't send any of my other kids to this school but the teachers are amazing but it's just the principal and guidance office that's.not amazing.
