School administration does not take harassment seriously. Bullying is never reviewed. There are some good students but the overall results for college readiness are low. Students do not get desirable results on AP tests. The IB program is still developing and as such not producing strong assesment results. Special education IEP AND 504s go unenforced causing difficulty to students in need.

Spotsylvania High School is not what you all think. It is actually a great school with great teachers and staff. There are also many opportunities you may have. You have the IB program, which is the only school in the county who offers IB. I have not seen any fighting or violence at this school this far, and the Interim Principal is doing good on leading the building in a great manner!

I have attended this school for three years now, and it doesn't suck as bad as people think. It's not cliquey and I don't really see bullying. Mr. Guempel is da bomb! He's totally awesome and did great things for this school. Almost all of the students here like and respect him, we are sad he left. It may seem redneck, if you don't go here, but it has a wide diversity. Spotsy also has a lot of opportunities and programs that other schools don't have; i.e. JROTC, CGS, IB, SPED, and trade school opportunities. Our school may not have a lot of money or funding, but that is not our fault and we do the best with what we have, and we are still getting an education. A majority of the teachers are really nice and are willing to listen to students, although we are low on teachers this year and some are teaching classes they have never taught before, they are pulling a team effort and working together to create lesson plans and teach students the best they can.

Protest today was ridiculous and allowing that was wrong. Y’all need to straighten up what is wrong with y’all?

Lack of discipline for students. Things may be done to punish the student however the current punishments in place have no effects. Some AP teachers seem to struggle to teach the material and resort to videos of others teaching through Youtube- the same applies for basic classes as well.

Another often brought up issue is racism however isn't very common but of course does occur on some occasions.

The school is probably the safest in the entire County and does offer unique programs such as IB, Governors School, JROTC, and so on.

New leadership has completely changed the culture of this school! What felt like the red headed stepchild of SCPS now feels like a brand new school. The main office is welcoming and positive, there is a focus on how people (parents, kids, and teachers) are treated. School spirit is rising and the students behavior has greatly improved.

The administration does not appear to understand what the teachers need, or maybe they do and just don't care enough to act on it. It does not feel like a family/team environment.

This school has such a bad racism problem it is ridiculous. As a person of color, saying that I go to Spotsylvania High school is morally degrading. I would not recommend going to this school to anyone that would like a good high school experience.
