I went to this school (Previous student), I had a fun time with friends, but there were also lots of downsides. Racial discrimination is one huge issue at this school, as a South Asian with brown skin, I would get called racial slurs all the time. I would even get harrased by people who I didn't even know. This place is a racist cesspit unless your white. The education was the only good thing, teachers are nice. I wouldn't recommend going to this place.

We have really enjoyed our time at HH Poole Middle School. There has been a recent administration change that I think accounted for some of the bad reviews from recent years. Both of my kids have excelled in their math courses and the teachers do a lot to communicate with the parents to make sure everyone is on track.

What an awesome school.. HHPoole middle is the best middle school in this country along with North stafford High and Kate Waller elementary. The realestate people give bad ratings to ensure the prices in other localities are higher.. but this locality has the best homes, most crimefree and most self managed.. you will see neat lawns and sidewalks all maintained by the residents without a HOA or a tiny HOA fee. This secret will no longer be a secret as soon you will never get homes here for these prices..
Rodney thomson, colonial forge, mountain view and those embrey mills crowded schools are not so great as kids there complain of bullying and violence and substance abuse but those get erased. who knows what games realestate companies and businesses play at our expense

If I could rate it zero stars, I would.
My son spent the year being bullied in front of several of his teachers who did absolutely NOTHING about these students. When I asked him if they noticed what happened, he said these things (racial slurs, inappropriate language, etc) were said right in front of the teachers who did nothing.
His math teacher had classroom policies straight out of the 1950s including punishing the students with "silent lunch" if they failed to return paperwork signed by parents. So now she's punishing students if parents forget to sign and send something in. She also spent their fire drill on the first day of school telling them about the school shooting where the shooters pulled the fire alarm and starting shooting as kids ran out of the building.
He had another teacher who couldn't control her classroom so her solution was to threaten the students with holding them until they missed their buses for talking. This is absolutely unacceptable and when I reached out to the assistant principal multiple times, I never received a call back despite being promised multiple times I would. She did this several more times while she was his teacher.
He would spent about 20-30 minutes of PE sitting in group punishment because some of the students wouldn't stop talking. One day he had heat exhaustion because it was 90 degrees and they wouldn't let the students change into their gym shorts and he, and at least several others in his class, were in clothing that was more appropriate for the air conditioned classrooms they spend the rest of the day in.
There were only a few bright spots in the whole school, namely the ladies who work the front desk and the registrar.
My son has never been more miserable in a school than he was here. We moved away because it was so bad. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT.

HHP cannot enforce rules! I went there all three years and they couldnÂ’t make up there minds (now IÂ’m a freshmen). It was a lot of fun tho. Some fun and nice teachers. English teachers were slacking, 7th grade math teachers not it, and all science teachers were okay, 8th grade math teachers were amazing! But I have nothing to say about 6th grade teachers. Turning i&e into a learning 30 minutes just because you blamed STUDENTS on not being able to learn ISNÂ’T always the students fault, but the teachers fault when some HHP teachers struggle to teach! The best teacher was MR. Lewis but they got rid of him for no good reason. Ms. dozier is also the best, you Want her as your math teacher! Ms Hamon was a genius but strict teacher, many may say she was bad at teaching but I learned more Spanish in her class than I have in Spanish 2 in HS. Counselling was good for nothing, if you reported a teacher for inappropriate behaviour they would do nothing because they were incapable of separating their friendships from business. The order of breakfast in the morning was always changed. Lunch was to strict last year if we didnÂ’t get yelled at for talking to our friends every minute it wouldÂ’ve been quite especially if we were allowed to sit as we pleased. There was never enough food at lunch if you werenÂ’t at the front of the line or 3 minutes early. But if you got to the cafeteria 3 minutes early you got in trouble. It would always be cold if you got the scraps.

Would not recommend, my child has a severe peanut allergy and he almost died because of how poorly they acted. If your child has any allergy or illness i would not recommend. I would choose Rodney Thompson!!

Would recommend this school. I feel that the faculty have the students best interest at heart. They are always available and are present for the students.

Academically, I found H.H. Poole to be sufficient. However, we encountered huge discipline issues at this school. Several teachers had no control over the classroom. In addition, the principal was very passive in providing a safe environment for our children. Stafford County promotes an anti-bullying policy quite vocally, but we found that there was no substance behind it at H.H. Poole. They pay lip service to it, but no action. It is hit or miss with teachers. Some were great and provided excellent communication with students and parents. Others seemed to resent questions from student and any parental envolvement. As someone else stated in and earlier post, I found many teachers to be combative and dismissive towards parental interaction. In retrospect (my kids are now in high school), I believe Rodney Thompson is probably the best middle school in the county.

I would note that those who provided poor reviews also had poor writing skills...so consider the source of their disdain. Perhaps they have issues with authority. Our experience with HH Poole has been positive. Aside from the academics and high school prep classes, there are numerous sports programs and other extracurricular activities available.

I am a student, I went to Poole for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I have had trouble with the teachers and the way they teach the students. The teachers are frequently trying to find something wrong with what you wear, what you have to say, and any opinons you have. They believe that children don't have the right to voice their opinions. I do not like a few of the staff there. I would prefer you to chose a more resonable school for your child/children.
