Great school. The reason why we bought!
Posted: February 13, 2020
We feel it not overwhelming but just enough to re-enforce what they learn at school.

Works great with our kids, no issues.

This school maintains the feel of a small community school despite it's growing population. The teachers and staff know every student by name and look out for their best interests. Most teachers go out of their ways to help students feel comfortable with the materials and school setting and take on additional work for themselves to ensure that all student's academic capabilities are met.

I have seen the teachers and staff go out of their way to listen to the students to understand the full picture of a situation before making any decisions about fault or consequence. They understand that young children are still learning and need to be understood and guided to do the right thing.

While some of the oldest teachers retired a few years ago, they helped shape their replacements and provided an awesome level of consistency as the school has transitioned into a digital age.

I think the amount of school work provided in my child's 2nd grade class is perfect for her grade level. However the teachers also have Google classroom drives that provide more work for parents to engage their children with for extra credit.

This school is the reason we moved to the area. While many of the reviews vary, I can assure you that the school is not a racist school as one comment states. Ferry Farm is by far one of the best schools in the area and due to its unique location, redistricting throughout the region has had little effect. If you are looking for a safe school for your children, let me tell you that multiple law enforcement officers live within walking distance to the school and have children attending.

Unfortunately some of the staff is lacking professionalism and an interest in knowing the families and children, If you have special needs children then this is NOT the school for them. The teachers have been told not to speak in IEP meetings even though they were the ones that noted issues and both the teacher and the parents wanted to be sure the child gets the help they need. they have even stated that what is happening at home or school is not a concern of the other. It seems this school does what it wants the way it wants with no regard for the students needs. they just push them along as long as there grades are passing

This is a very racist school! Minorities do not get the same treatment as white kids and there is no outlet for minorities. My son is very smart and gets excellent grades but has an issue with focusing, at times, in class when the lesson is to easy or the teacher is not keeping his attention. Instead of seeing this bright child and recognizing his strengths, they have judged and targeted him and labeled him as a "problem".

The school is average for an elementary school. We bought in the Ferry Farm district because of the reputation of the school. Like most schools, the teachers vary in style and quality. We have had teachers who were wonderful, receptive and challenging and others whose style was not a good fit. The principal, unfortunately, is lacking professionalism and an interest in knowing the families and children. There was a time when this school would have gotten 5 stars but with the leadership, it is truly lacking. The school counselor is kind and loving toward the children which is a huge positive for the school.
