This school is bad because they make us go straight to our class rooms and we don’t get to talk to our friends talking about cutting down the 8th grade picnic time

Mrs. Hegna, Mrs. Guadalupe (now moved to central office), Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Butler and the remainder of the office staff have not only been attentive to my child’s needs and desires but supportive in their education and truly get to know the students. They have their work cut out for themselves as it’s a tough age group, however, I have always seen them poised, direct while speaking to the children at their level. After volunteering, and substituting I have been able to get an overall opinion. I’m pleased with A.G. and wouldn’t my children anywhere else.

The school rate was much higher than now, so the staff and teachers needed to work harder to make the school better than now

I experience has been outstanding. We have been part of the Tiger Family for 3 years and have 2 more left. Both kids have loved the school.

We have had amazing teachers that go out of their way to assist with students needs. They are engaged, and care about each student.

It seems to vary greatly from student to student - my son has rarely had even an hour of homework while some kids seem to have hours on end. (both honor roll kids)

Posted: February 19, 2019

With one exception out of 3 years of classes - my son has had amazing teachers. They make themselves available for extra help if needed, they are quick to communicate with parents, but you are not inundated with emails.

Posted: February 19, 2019

Many opportunities to catch kids doing good things, they have National Junior Honor Society, and the Focus teacher is very inclusive, programs and activities are offered to not only kids identified for Focus but those who show an interest and work ethic to complete the programs.

Mr. Boatright is very personable and is able to relate with these kids, he has several similar age kids of his own - so he gets it from a parental level as well. He has embraced the technology the kids use, and seems to truly enjoy being there for them. The counseling staff is first rate - very proactive with parents and kids to plan for their high school paths- and geniunely get to know the students.

I personally have a gifted student, so my point of view is from that standpoint. There are many opportunities to enrich their education, debate, model UN, NJHS, statewide contests, but they are all voluntary. No one is forced to do any of it (except debate unit in Honors English in 8th grade). Furthermore, kids that are not in the Focus program are encouraged to participate and many do.

I was very concerned about middle school for my son. You hear horror stories about these admittedly awkward years - but my son has really enjoyed his time at AGW. He is not a "joiner" so he has not participated in very many of the offerings, but has a pretty great friend group, and they all are supportive and protective of one another. The classes have been challenging without being overbearing, and the teachers are amazing and so dedicated. There is a lot of diversity, but I consider that a plus - it's a diverse world out there. I'm sorry and nervous to see him soar on to High School - but they have him prepared and he is very excited!

3 out 5 for us. The teaching staff is wonderful however there seems to be a huge disconnect between the teachers and the administration. Vice Principal also seemed very inexperienced. I was very surprised. Thank goodness the teachers have been wonderful.

Posted: October 15, 2018

Seems average 8n the amount of homework.

Teachers are great, Administration Needs lots of work.

Posted: October 15, 2018

Very involved teachers, prepared and enthusiastic support staff.

Its a great school. They have a lot of space. They have a great field hockey team and volleyball team and even football team.

My daughter graduated this middle school and she liked it a lot. I like the fact that it is a small middle school compared to others in the county. The Music program is AMAZING, especially Band. Great School!

The curriculum, sports, music and extra student and knowledge enhancements are wonderful. This year my daughter is going into the 7th grade and we couldn't be happier with her development both inside the school and out. The Principal has been to every after school function I have ever been a part of...which are quite a few with sports, music and other events. He must work 70 hours a week. His commitment to the students and his leadership to the faculty are always on display. I am looking forward to my other daughter making her way through this school in the next few years. May the trend continue.

Very involved teachers and principal/vice-principal. The 8th grade has the ability to get high school credit or take languages at the high school. Positive environment.

This is my 7th grader's second year in the area and at AGW. We are military. He absolutely LOVES this school and all of the teachers he's had so far (I worried that moving out of state at age 11 was going to be tough for him). The school principal is this years' "Stafford County Principal of the YEAR" which says a lot about the school (I've also heard that he's a former NFL player!!). They still have "A" day as mentioned in another review from 2009. Every "A" on the report card gets each student an entry into a drawing for great prizes (gift cards to the movies, gamestop, a computer tablet). In 7th grade, they also have neat system where the kids can read job descriptions, apply for jobs (Banker, attendance officer, etc all at different pay rates), and recieve Americana money (play money). They can use the money to bid on silent auction items donated and they can also bring in items to auction off. If they want to change jobs, they ask to resign and then have an opportunity fill out an application for a new job. I can't say enough good things about AG Wright. Everyone I've encountered has been professional, welcoming and friendly.
