The newest administration does not foster strong parent–teacher relationships and positive school–community connections. Principal does not perform her due diligence to address parental concerns and has a nonchalant attitude towards supporting students needs. A sense of superiority and power trips accompanies some staff members resulting in an uninviting environment.

We moved in last year, and our kid, Layana, is a special needs child. She went to 1st grade, and so far, after one year of schooling, she has improved a lot. We are satisfied the way school taking care of her.

The rockhill community is just amazing. The teacher, staff, student all come together to embody the rockhill strong mentality. Everyone I’ve met has loved being a part of this school, and we are so lucky to be raccoons.

My daughter is a second grader at Rockhill and has been there since kindergarten. She has had amazing teachers all the way through. Kindergarten started during the pandemic. Her teacher and paraprofessional were only in their second years, but handled the struggles of virtual learning and also readjusting to the classroom environment with grace and ease. First grade was a rough year due to a bully situation, but her teacher caught on quickly and handled it well. My daughter's second grade teacher absolutely incredible. She teaches the students to be thoughtful and supportive of others, and challenges them intellectually.

Mrs Rivero and Mrs Corwin create a welcoming environment for all. The staff at Rockhill encourage kindness and respect between students and staff alike.

The PTO is very active and hosts monthly activities for students, as well as monthly spirit stores, and student and staff appreciation.

We were alerted week 2 of 1st grade that our daughter was behind on reading. After a year we found out that they still had not made a plan to address it! We moved to a new school and my daughter was at a kindergarten reading level moving into 2nd grade! We have had to spend thousands on tutors.

The front office has zero courtesy when speaking to parents, dismissive of things going on outside the home, rude and unprofessional in most interactions. Teachers hit or miss. Some teachers seem not to understand their age group and what they are capable of (multiple teachers) while others are great.

I feel like this school expects that everyone has an adult available at a moments notice to serve a needs at the school and demands the help without tact. No consideration for working families. Constantly asking for money from the parents.

I have worked with many of the kids there in an after school program and find the kids very respectful of eachother and the staff and teachers are very uplifting, encouraging,postive and helpful to the kids. I am very impressed with all I have come in contact with.

My son is only in second grade, but has stated throughout the year that kids are nice at his school. He has never witnessed or experienced any bullying.

My son had Mrs. Pennock for second grade this year. Being a military family and having two older children as well, we have dealt with many different school systems and teaching styles. Mrs. Pennock went above and beyond to provide additional learning material for our son at his level - something I've had to advocate for with my older children in "cookie cutter" learning environments elsewhere. She was also quick to refer him to the Focus teacher as an additional resource. The specials teachers at this school are amazing as well! My son learned a lot from his Art and Music teachers along with their two amazing PE teachers who kept the kids physically engaged.

When we first came to Rockhill, my son was entering kindergarten. It was a new environment for all of us and the amount of homework was a little unexpected. I didn't realize that it was optional for kindergartners, but recommended to help in their learning success, so we did all of it. I am glad we did, because it helped my son progress very quickly in class and also helped to develop good study habits early on. He is now in second grade and has no problem completing homework or projects. My daughter has a different kindergarten teacher, this year and has much less homework. She is doing well in class, but takes a little more prompting to complete projects. Each teacher is different with homework.

I have two children attending this school, now, and have had the joy of experiencing 4 different teachers in our time at Rockhill. Each teacher has had a completely different approach to teaching, classwork, at home learning, and parental involvement within the classroom. They have all been good at communicating and if something happens to warrant a conference are great at carving out time to meet with you and take the time needed to answer all questions you may have.

I believe that strong character development begins at home and then extends beyond those four walls to the community by providing the positive role model your children should example their behavior after. I believe that Rockhill elementary reinforces what we have taught our children to model their behavior after, but also is consistent in expecting a level of respectful social interaction between peers and providing positive reinforcement in awards for good behavior, recognizing those children who have met or exceeded their own behavior goals for the week by ringing a positive behavior award bell and getting a certificate in front of the whole school. Each classroom has their own goals for earning "letter" that earn them special days as a class room, as well as recognizing individual students when they achieve personal goals or exceed them.

Our principal Mrs. Rivero is always working hard to improve areas of the school that would benefit greatly from positive adjustments. Anytime, you go to the school the principal and VICE principal can be seen visiting classrooms interacting with kids in the hallway, helping with afternoon pickup, and participating in fun activities with the kids all while speaking with parents whenever needed. We have an incredible leadership staff at Rockhill who never ceases to go above and beyond the call of duty. Two years ago, my son's kindergarten class experienced an unexpected tragedy and lost a classmate. The school jumped in immediately with their grief counseling "flight team" and called to inform all parents of the situation, allowed them time to talk about it, and gave us advice and resources to help talk with our children. The counselor had group and individual counseling sessions with all of the children. I cannot say enough about our school's response to such a tragic situation. I am so thankful for their level of dedication to our children and families.

I have seen the way teachers/aids/staff interact and work with children with special needs and they have added sensory hallways to help children get out extra energy but also provide ways that children with learning deficits to unwind and calm down in order to learn at their own pace. They also added an Outdoor habitat in a courtyard at the school that the students, teachers, and families get to help take care of and enjoy while learning about the different plant life and organisms that make up the ecosystem. Our school also just added an indoor Garden Tower for classes to help care for and enjoy fresh vegetables from within the school lunch room. Other than physical and occupational therapy that has to be set up for a child with special needs based on an individual IEP and communication between parent and teachers and staff. The school is constantly improving and providing more resources to help include all children and families within our school.

My child has had a couple incidents in school, last year and the year prior, involving bullying. Part of the problem with bullying is that it is not always apparent in the beginning and sometimes it can be difficult getting your child to open up about it. Thankfully, the bus driver caught something that was occurring on the bus between my child and another student and brought it to our attention. We then were able to speak to our son and have him tell is what was happening, so we could figure out how best to deal with it. I spoke with the other child's mother and we each spoke with our children. The issue still continued with the other child in a different capacity, so I had the kids separated on the bus. The problem was solved and our son reported no other issues. We also had a conversation with the teacher and had her update is during school on happenings between them. Nothing else happened. The past two years we have worked on building our son's confidence whole teaching him to be proactive in standing up for his peers if he sees someone being bullied. It has helped him boldly stand up to kids who may try to bully him or other kids in a peaceful manner. The school has always been quick to help us resolve issues with bullying any time something has arisen. We don't rely on the school heavily to resolve these issues because we have to do our part as parents, as well.

You don't get believe until the end of the year and basically suck it up and deal with the everybody gets bullied. Was their response.

Overall, the level of appropriate homework is consistent. Some teachers are better than others, as I have witnessed from most other schools in the nation.

I have had two of my children attend RES after much research and have to say that the School has met my demands. Most of the teachers are personable and have left a positive impression. Both children continue to advance without a problem of bullying and enjoyed the advanced programs. I continue to recommend Stafford County Schools, but would like to see the retention of experienced teachers improve.

I have students who are in 5th, 3rd, and 2nd. I love the administration and teachers at this school. When Mrs. Rivero became principal, she has brought so many positive programs into the school that has increased student success and the positive school culture and climate! I love Rockhill Elementary School!

Both of my kids have attended this school and they love it! The office staff is not rude, they are just very strict and safety is a priority in this school. Teachers are amazing, I really don't have anything to bad to say about it! the rating says 7 but last year it went to a 9, the school has improved a lot.

As a former elementary school teacher, I can honestly say that I am impressed with this school and the staff. I could not be happier that my child attends kinder here. The office staff is very friendly, the school has a great PTO, the administration seems very involved and my duaghter's teacher and aide are amazing. There also is always parents volunteering for various things through out the school. You definitely get a sense of school pride and a warm leaning environment as you enter the hallways. My daughter absolutely loves going to school and is thriving academically!

I have 5 children. This was by far the worst elementary school any of my kids have ever been to. I recently pulled my 4th grader out and started homeschooling her. She was being treated bad by her peers and her self esteem was getting worse every week. Her teacher Mrs. Givler, was wonderful and tried helping with these issues, but it just wasn't enough for my daughter. The office staff was rude the majority of the time making it to where I didn't even want to have to deal with them face to face. My husband and I were shocked when we enrolled her how rude the staff was. On top of it, most of the time she felt as though she was in prison. Someone getting after a child for every little thing. The kids for the most part just seemed scared. This is no way for children to feel at school!! My daughter wouldn't even go to the school nurse if she felt sick because she was scared of her. We are military, so we have been to countless schools......by far the worst experience! I never would have thought I'd be homeschooling. My daughter is a new child now!

Two of my children currently attend Rockhill Elementary and have been at the school for the past 3 years. Overall I have been very pleased with the school and believe they are getting a good education. The teachers have been great and do a wonderful job. I do believe parent involvement is very important both at the school and at home for your child to be successful.

This is our second year at Rockhill. I continue to be impressed with the staff's level of dedication to the kids! The office staff is extremely professional and especially warm and friendly to all who come in. There are so many staff members that genuinely care about the success of my kids, it's unbelievable! Again this year, my kids have the most amazing teachers that seem to be a perfect fit for my kids. Now I see why many families flock to this paticular area of Stafford.

Rockhill Elementary School is an amazing school, my little one has been attending two years and loves it very much! I myself love the teachers and their kindness. I think this school is great, the friendly environment makes any kid and his/her family feel welcomed. Thank You ROCKHILL ELEMENTARY !!!!!!
