This school is an utter disappointment. For the amount of money you pay to have your child be representative by teachers and staff who should show them how to be a civilized respectful human in life when they become adult adults is something that the faculty will never be able to who give. The athletics department is 10 times worse., encouraging students players and parents on how to be the most disrespectful and unsupportive patrons during every single sports game. The lack of morals and ethics is absolutely mind blowing.

We had a terrible time with bullying, safety, communication with staff, communication with financial department. When looking into this school, please know that everything is charged ala carte-meaning the prices you see are base prices and only go up depending on your child’s needs. Staff will gaslight parents, especially when bullying is a part of the picture. I deeply regret enrolling my child at this school.

This school is worth the investment. Students are academically pushed, but also nurtured by a highly capable, caring teaching faculty. With small class sizes students actually get to participate in sports, musicals and clubs without having to be "D1" caliber. The curriculum is innovative without losing sight of the need for a sound base in reading, writing and math. You're not going to find anything better in the Valley, and the school could compete with the best private schools in Virginia. Is it perfect, no, but what really is?

Depends on the teacher and your personal thoughts on homework. Students definitely have to work at this school.

The teachers are caring and gentle but push their students. The low student to teacher ratio helps them know and attend to my kids better.

Bullying has never been an issue for my children at North Cross. I think the teachers are pretty on top of things since the class sizes are so small.

The CrossWalk program is amazing. It has done wonders for my son. I was able to talk candidly with the instructors about my concerns and they encouraged me to get him tested. When I did, we discovered he was dyslexic and dysgraphic. CrossWalk builds daily tutoring time into his day so it's not something we have to run him to after school. Totally integrated.

I haven't had any experience with this firsthand, but I do know of a few kids who were dismissed or suspended for bullying behavior. The counselors have a curriculum and meet with students in all divisions, so I feel like they set up good expectations and try to teach kids how to handle conflicts and differences in a positive way.

I had my daughter at another school that I was originally attracted to for its small class size. I quickly realized that class size is NOT everything. I've been so happy with how her teachers challenge her here and push her outside her comfort zone while still encouraging her confidence. I brought my son here and he attends the CrossWalk program and is doing great. He is such a confident kid as a result and the whole school culture is one that's completely supportive of learning differences, which is great.

North Cross is a very good school in terms of academics. However, there is a big drug culture at this school and the administration sweeps it under the carpet. We moved to Roanoke from the east coast and decided to not send our daughter after one year.

North Cross is an outstanding independent school that develops the entire child (mind and body). Students are taught to think critically and not just what to memorize on standardized tests. At a very early age students are taught a second langauge so that they can be fully immersed at the high school level. Their Global Studies Program is cutting edge and makes us realize the competition for the very best schools and jobs is not sitting next to you in the class room, but is perhaps and ocean away.

I am a graduate and my three sons also attended. North Cross gave them,like me, a great education,challenged them, allowed them to participate in a wide variety of sports and the Arts, and provided them with some great friends.The teachers were caring, supportive and helped them build their confidence so that when they attended three highly selective schools, they performed at a high level.

I really like the vision of the school and the programs it has been developing to challenge students and build character. The foreign language emphasis in the lower school, the introduction of writing code planned for 2013-14 in the middle school, and the global studies curriculum in the upper school are all well-run and challenging programs. I love the fact that our children have constant adult (faculty and staff) interactions because of the low student teacher ratio. They are interactive in class and familiar enough with their teachers to ask questions and seek (and be given) extra help when needed. It pushes our children. Add to that a commitment to the arts and athletics and I think that this is worth every penny of tuition paid. Great school!

We have been very pleased with North Cross over the past 5 years. The teachers really care about their students and challenge them to do their best. The new headmaster has made a huge difference in terms of discipline with the students and communication with parents. He listens to what the parents have to say, but is not afraid to disagree with them if he has a different opinion. He is a strong leader whose main focus is on the students and the quality of education. There are many parents involved in this school and they are welcoming to all new families. An Ambassador Program for new students helps the entire family adjust to North Cross, not just the child. I highly encourage anyone who is willing to work hard to apply for acceptance to this school.

North Cross is a great school! It is challenging and brings out the best in a student. All students can join any sports team and really bond with their team mates. I highly reccomend it to anyone.
