This review system is so black and white. Someone has a bad experience, they rate it a 1. Someone has a good experience, they rate it a 5, because we all know that if you don't give something you like a 5, the overall rating will get lower. And I'm basically doing the later. We've had a very good experience. There is room for improvement, mostly in academic rigor, but still know it is better than most local public schools in that regard.

Lots of 1 ratings related to bullying. We have had the opposite experience. Both of our children have mentioned an experience or two when they felt bullied, and each experience was discussed with teachers and administration, and sometimes even with the parents of the bully, and we felt like each incident was resolved well.

The nepotism at this school is unbelievable. Worst decision we ever made was to send our child to this awful school. Parents, beware. The school is overrun with bullies but teachers, administrators, and head of school are in denial as to who the problem students are as they protect their own families above all else.

Weve enjoyed a real sense of community, knowing our childrens friends and their families. The high school offers a unique international travel experience for all students each year. Immanuel Christian School is one of the best schools you can go to in the area. The teachers and staff are so welcoming and my child is able to grow in a biblical and spiritual way. We have three children in this school. Our children have been attending for seven years now. We have found the academics to be rigorous and the environment to be safe and supportive. There is a real sense of partnership between the parents and the school. The Christ centered approach to learning and community has been a blessing.

We appreciate the statement of faith requirement to enroll in this school. If you are just looking for a school, that is better than what the public school system has to offer and do not truly agree with the statement of faith, it would be better for your student and the school for you to look elsewhere. I say that because I believe practicing Christian families really thrive in this environment. Marginal or casual practicing Christians may not appreciate the environment as much. I would go even further to suggest some of the greatest struggles experienced by students and/or families (based on the few weve witnessed) were rooted in what I suspect was an unequally yoked situation. Whereas the child struggled to live by the honor code and parents may have given the statement of faith as much consideration as one does acknowledging the disclaimers upon downloading a smartphone application.

The school is not perfect, but we feel it is the best fit for our family. The balance between academics, Christ-centeredness, sports and extracurriculars has been as good as we can imagine.

As regular churchgoers (every week + ministries during the week), we feel our faith community easily doubled once we joined ICS. It has made volunteering and participating in school events a blessing similar to our engagement with our church community.

We feel ICS is not only preparing our children for the academic challenges awaiting them, it is making them better learners and bolstering their Christian walk. We trust how they are teaching and what they are teaching our children. Our children are thriving and are enjoying their ICS experience.

Having two school aged children we looked into and toured what felt like every school in NOVA. I cannot more highly recommend ICS. It did take us a few years to get in because we didn't start applying until my kids were in upper elementary and middle school grades but it was worth every second of the wait.
The staff is unbelievably kind and supportive, from support staff to teachers to the Administrators. ICS has wonderfully robust programming for a private school. They also create so many opportunities for families to serve and partner with the school.
If strong Christian values and character building are at the top of your list for your family in a private school, ICS will exceed all your expectations.
Additionally, their security program for the school is unmatched.

As a parent, finding a school that provides a top-notch education while nurturing my children's spiritual growth has been a top priority. ICS meets and exceeds expectations in every way. With a strong emphasis on Christian values, my children are immersed in an environment centered on faith, kindness, respect, and hard work.

The quality of their academic program is very strong. The emphasis on language arts, writing, history, science, and music has fostered a genuine love of learning in my children. The small class sizes create an amazing advantage; my children get the personalized attention they need to thrive. Teachers here are truly invested in seeing each student succeed. That counts for the majority of our rating. The teachers and faculty are amazing. You may get fancier resources at other specialized schools. But the community at this school is special and unmatched.

While the school's commitment to fostering a diverse student body, parent community, and teaching staff is laudable, there's still room to grow in this area. There is a new head of school this year and I'm confident that Immanuel Christian will continue to evolve and offer an even more enriching experience for the students.

I would wholeheartedly recommend our school to any parent seeking a well-rounded, faith-based education for their child. Five stars all around!

We have three children, one graduated from FCPS, one is at another local private school and one is at ICS. Our two younger children transferred from public school to private school in 2021. We have been incredibly pleased with our experience at ICS. We have found this school in particular is committed to developing the whole child. Academics are important, but so is the child's spiritual development and character. Our child has been academically challenged by ICS and has learned far more then FCPS ever offered. In addition to academics, the school partners with parents to offer seminars on topics such as emotional health, mental health, technology and children to name a few. This school addresses emerging issues head on because they care about the whole child and not just academics. Do kids occasionally make bad choices? Yes. I pray that when my child makes a bad choice she gets caught the first time making the choice because I have no doubt ICS/ICHS will partner with me to help my child understand why the choice was bad and work with me to impart appropriate consequences, if needed. Of the three school experiences our children have had (public, other private school, ICS), ICS has been the school by which we have been most consistently pleased. If you are looking for a school where you can use your money or name as influence to graduate your child without consequences should issues arise, then this is not the school for you. If you are looking for a school that will partner with you to prepare your child for life by teaching challenging academics, developing a deep faith and a building a strong character, then look no further the ICS/ICHS.

This school does not demonstrate a Christian-based approach to dealing with bullying and conflict. Our child has been in counseling as a result of attending this school. The administrators and staff should be ashamed for their unfair actions and decisions. Thankfully we withdrew our child which turned out to be the best decision we ever made. Our child is now walking with Christ in a better situation. We are sad for the families that still attend because continue to hear about terrible situations.

STUDENT HERE, Ill be listing a few red flags, after my freshman year I was literally gaslit by all the faculty. A few times when I was waking in the halls I could hear them gossiping abt me. One time I was walking down the stairs and the vice principal ran into me going up and didnt even care or say sorry (this was after a dress code dispute). At the beginning of my year the length of my skirt was OK with all the staff, but somehow mysteriously one day they all got pressed abt.They pulled me out of class on multiple occasions during final prep week to discuss it. When this happened, they put me in the nurses office and the NURSE was gaslighting me for 15min abt how it would make my mom happy if I just changed into the skirt they had !THIS MADE ME UNCOMFORTABLE! During this time when the staff cared more abt my skirt rather than the drug deals going on, I felt like I had all 5 of the administrators ganging up on me. Perfect example of the Christian you do NOT want to be. There is also no sense of community. School if obviously split down the middle with the holy kids being the favorite and then everyone else. Its hard to explain the dynamic of everything but you can see if you go there, which you shouldnt. This school is actually WACK. Do your walk with Christ a favor and choose a different path. <3

Thank you Immanuel Christian Highschool for teaching my child how Christians should not behave. My daughter was verbally harassed by two girls on the volleyball team. The coach used inappropriate language with my child during a game. When we brought these concerns to the attention of the school we were told that these girls have special circumstances and we were supposed to understand their behavior. The vb coach did apologize, but the head of sports dismissed our concerns. He was not concerned about the lasting impact on my child.

A teacher grabbed my child by the shoulder and forcibly pushed her down on a bench and scolded for dress code violation. I did report the physical altercation to FFXPD and there is a record/report of the incident. Thank you to all the administrators from the head of school, principal, and vice principal who mockingly disregarded our concerns as parents regarding this incident.

After we were advised by the police to remove our daughter from the school I contacted our local high school. Unfortunately, it was so late in the school year my child would have had to essentially repeat the whole entire year again. So we very reluctantly stayed the course.

In March, I was picking my child up early from school. As I sat in the parking lot I saw a male student on the second floor balcony drop down cash to a girl who had just driven up to the school. The boy yelled to the girl to get him an Elf Bar. I guess money drops for vapes are less of a concern than the length of the uniform skirt, harassment from other students, and physical discipline from teachers.

Lastly, thank you ICHS for instilling judgmental character into the student government as my daughter is still being maligned by one of the girls who holds a leadership position in SGA. Since my child will attend public school she has been told shes going to Hell, shes a heathen, and that shes going to be stupid because shes going to public school.

If the SGA represents the type of students its turning out Im beyond thankful that God has revealed this isnt a place where the Holy Spirit resides. The schools motto should be Conservative in values, but does not exemplify Christ

We are an extremely conservative family, but I became more concerned when I heard my child say that if this is how Christians behave in Christian schools its not a place she wants to be.

If your child didnt attend k-8 or IBC, be CAUTIOUS, you will be treated like a non-believer.

ICHS has been an incredible experience for our family since leaving the FCPS. Academically my kids have received top notch teaching which we rarely found in the public school system. We have found our children especially benefit from several of the teachers who have had prior non-teaching careers and bring their unique and real/true life perspective to the subject matter (government, history, statistics). The teachers really do CARE about the students and help nudge them if needed but allow them to thrive independently. Another notable difference with public schools have been the higher expectations in the classroom, required recitations, reading classic literature, and encouraging critical and independent thinking. In addition my kids have not had to specialize in a certain sport as they are able to compete as multi-sport athletes in a competitive and goal-directed environment. We are truly thankful we found ICS and ICHS.

We just started ICS this year and so far we love the school. It is a very close community and parents are encouraged to be involved in many ways. The teachers and staff are truly caring and engaged in the students learning snd well-being. They teach true foundations of the word of God daily. My child loves going to school every day and has never had any complaints, seems engaged and has greatly grown academically and spiritually.

Amazing school. They challenge the children and make them earn their grades. But as the years go by, you see the benefit in this, as they excel and begin to flourish. I am beyond grateful for this school. Public schools are on a mission to take away our children. This school is on a mission to bring our children towards God.

I understand that many have had and continue to have an excellent experience. In my view, while everything is going well anyone will report a good rating. How an institution and those running it, respond and handle a problem is the best chance to see if that entity is what it claims. Our child was bullied EVERY single day in this school. We thought to remove our child, but our child wanted to finish out the year. Then at the beginning of the 4th quarter the kids worked together to play a prank on our child. At this point the prank had a direct impact to my job. I asked the school to meet with me to discuss the situation. The minute I mentioned bullying, I was told that the principal could not speak to me. That I and my child needed to speak to the counselor first. So you pay tuition and do the best you can while your child is abused by the other students and you cannot even meet with the principal. It felt like a circling of the wagons. I stated that the counselor was free to attend the meeting with the principal to hear all of the situation. This too was not acceptable. So we would need to tell the details and live through it more than once before the principal would even consider meeting with us. If this is what you want for you and your student then this is the school for you. If you want open dialogue, then I would think twice about this school.

Our daughter is in her first year at Immanuel Christian and we have been overwhelmingly impressed with the teachers and the school community. They have done a fantastic job with communication and safety protocols during the pandemic. We feel truly blessed that our child has been able to attend school in person five days per week. The academic curriculum is well balanced with active time for little ones to get the wiggles out. More than anything, we love the Christ-centered teachings that align with our faith and how the school works to promote kindness and love.

My son transferred to ICS in 7th grade from one of the best public school systems in Northern VA. At ICS his school work has benefited from personal attention. He has advanced his language arts skills and also placed into a higher level of Math. In addition to excellent academics, ICS places an important emphasis on building character. The school was very welcoming to our family and my son made some good friends the first week!

ICS has been an absolute God send, especially this year. With public schools still shuttered, ICS has taken a thoughtful approach to opening full time, while still considering the safety concerns of those involved. The teachers,curriculum, Biblical approach, staff, and building have all been first rate and we are so grateful to be a part of the ICS family. Our daughter also attends the after school program and LOVES it.

We love the focus of the school which is holistic well-being -- spiritual, physical, mental, all aspects of our children. ICS is helping our kids figure out who they are, that they are loved, that they are here for a reason, and then how to thrive in it and maximize their abilities. The teachers are caring, the administration is wise and thoughtful, and the families we've met have been welcoming. Quite a lot of homework and high academic standards as well. Lots of fun, engaging events, volunteer opportunities and service projects for the whole family to get involved in, so a very hands-on school.

Our sons transferred to ICS for 7th grade after attending our local FCPS elementary school from K-6th. While they had an overall good experience in public school, they absolutely LOVE everything about ICS. Every day when I pick them up after school, they can't wait to tell me all about what they learned. After 7 years in the public school system, being taught history and science from a Biblical world view has been a breath of fresh air for them. They have gone on amazing field trips, such as a wilderness survival camping trip and a visit to the Ark and Creation Museum in KY, the cost of which is included in tuition. Our boys are constantly thanking us for making the decision to send them to ICS for middle school, and are eagerly looking forward to continuing on to ICHS next year.

The administration are thoughtful, engaging, and know each of the students by name. The head of school seeks to go each student in the school by having lunch with them throughout the school year. The head of school is often outside when it's warm so students can come up and say their Bible verses to him.

Character building is a vital part of the curriculum at ICS. The teachers have a devotional time each morning, they pray throughout the day for wisdom and guidance from the Lord, and they love their students with a Christ-like love. The teachers show grace to the students and desire to truly share the truth of Jesus Christ. The teachers also have a genuine respect for the other teachers and administration which evidences itself to the students. This school is very unified and cares for each staff member and student.

The teachers are so supportive, caring, and loving to each child. The academics are very strong and the school feels like a direct extension of the church which is very important and valuable to us. Parent and grandparent volunteering is encouraged and I take advantage to get to the school at least once a week as a lunch helper. There are always parents around helping with library, lunch, and other areas which helps the children build a strong sense of community as your child knows the other children, and their parents, and their siblings. We have been very happy with everything. Really can not say enough about the teachers at this school, they really love and care for each child and give a ton of 1 on 1 attention, I see it every week when I'm up there and I can also tell from listening to my daughter when she comes home. We visited many private schools before finally deciding on ICS and ICS has far exceeded our expectations, we knew it was a great school when making the decision, but seeing the spiritual and academic growth in our daughter has been awesome.

We chose Immanuel Christian School because in addition to excellent academics, it also offers great after school programs and sports. There are a lot of private schools in this area but very few of them have the competitive sports programs, wide variety of after school activities and focus on building character and encouraging service to others. We highly recommend this school to others. My son is in 7th grade and we are hoping Immanuel expands to High School before we have to move to another school.

As a parent, I am confident that my grade-school daughter is receiving an academically rigorous education in a safe, loving environment that allows for individual expression. The teachers and administrators care about all of their students as individuals and pupils and truly seem to love their jobs. Another big plus is the service projects each grade undertakes every year to inspire kids to give back to their communities. On our first tour of the school we made up our minds to attend when we saw uniformed students happily conversing with each other while being respectful of noise levels during class changes. If your child has trouble concentrating amid the distractions of a big public school classroom and unruly classmates, you should explore ICS.

Perspective parents often ask about how kids do when they leave ICS for high school, our daughter did really well on her PSAT test this year. As a ninth grader she ended up in the 99% for both sections. Clearly this is not a result of her studies at her current high school, where she has been for only 3 months, - but rather a reflection of the amazing teachers/teaching that she received from ICS. We couldn't be happier with our experience at ICS - our daughter received an amazing education from teachers that cared about her and encouraged her - academically, spiritually and emotionally. It is a wonderful environment in which to learn.

This school is, without a doubt, one of the "hidden gems" of the Northern Virginia private schools. It has amazing God-centered teachers and administrators who are committed to seeing my children grow in multiple spheres, including academically, socially, and spiritually.

The classes have great student-teacher ratios and the school offers multiple enrichment and special track opportunities. There are a variety of after-school clubs and sports and the school also offers before-care and after-care to accommodate parents' schedules.

We love this school and our kids wake up every day excited for what the day might bring.

The principal and staff are dishonest and mistreat certain students. This is the worse school I have ever encountered and I am in process of contacting the accreditation board. They do not follow their mission and retaliate against the student when a parent complains. Pulling child out.

ICS shaped me to be the person I am today. The teachers and staff members encouraged me to love God and want to serve him and love His people. The school led me to find the person I am today and I am forever thankful for that. At Immanuel, you are constantly surrounded with happiness and caring hearts. Everyone there wants to help you and make learning as fun and meaningful as possible. It is so nice going to a school where you all have a common belief in Jesus Christ. Knowing you can go to someone for a quick prayer or reference to a verse you need to hear is so reassuring. I love this school so much and it will always have a special place in my heart.

My boys attended ICS for two years before we moved out of the area. The teachers are WONDERFUL! They truly care about the students, not only academically, but socially, emotionally, and spiritually as well. The school has a solid Christian foundation. Christian principles and ideals are built into the curriculum and every interaction with the students which in turn leads the children to develop a sense of a Biblical Worldview at a very young age. The minister at a church we visited after moving was extremely impressed with the boys' knowledge of the Bible and how it applied to their daily living. The administration is accessible and supportive of parents and students. The academics are solid, but the true strength of ICS is its heart: from the top administrator all the way down to the students.

I love this school, but not as much as my new 6th grader does. He's new to middle school and the area. On his second day of school, he was excited to get to class, excited to learn. He said it feels like a club where kids go to learn for fun and he feels like he belongs here. It made my heart sing.

Educational equal to any school in D.C., but with Christian values integrated in every aspect of school life! ICS has impressed me by the way in which the faculty and staff incorporate a Christian worldview into every aspect of learning. Administrator Steve Danish is particularly gifted. ICS has been an incredibly supportive environment for not only my children, but our whole family. We have grown in our faith as a result. The academics are outstanding, parents are involved, faculty and staff are caring. Relative to other private schools, and relative to the quality of education provided, ICS tuition is a bargain! As a military family we move a lot. ICS immediately made my children feel welcome and they quickly assimilated into the school. We never worry about what is being taught in the classroom, either, as it is always consistent with what our children are taught at home and in church.

I was transferring my girls from a school that had divided their students between A/B students and C/below. This school was consistently putting my girls in lower reading classes than they tested for. The school did not teach science in 4th grade because it was not a part of the SOL test that year and in 5th grade they were only given old SOL tests as work. Teachers were teaching for a test and not teaching for the children to actually learn the subject. After no help from the principle or Fairfax School Board we joined Immanuel. The academics are challenging the comradeship is heartwarming. My older daughter who had a hard time warming up to the school not only likes it now but does not want return to public school even though her workload has increased significantly. The single best thing about Immanuel is that God is woven through the lessons of the day. My younger daughter s prayers have matured in thought and scope. As for my older daughter that I was so worried about, wondering if I made the right decision, was made clear to me. My mom came to visit and told me she noticed an inner peace in her granddaughter now. Thank you God. -Denise Burgos

Immanuel Christian School provided my daughter with a well rounded education with a world Christian view. Upon graduation she was well prepared for high school. The school also emphasizes community service and a compassionate attitude for others. ICS also has a before and afterschool program for those students with working parents. I would strongly recommend this school to others.

Choosing an alternative to public schools here in NOVA can be a challenge because there are so many to choose from. For our family, the fact that ICS was a Christian school was of premier importance to my husband and me. The curriculum at ICS is taught through the filter of God's word-so even though there are specific Bible classes taught, kids learn in English, Math Science and other classes that God is involved in ALL aspects of their life. But there are so many other reasons to consider ICS as a school option. Early on, we were impressed that teachers identified areas where my children struggled and were able to provide support and encouragement to my children AND my husband and me. They didn't just let our children coast. As our children grew, many of their teachers also identified areas where my children needed to push themselves because they knew my kids were capable of doing more. I loved being able to participate in the life of the school in so many ways. The school welcomes parent involvement. I felt like the ICS staff and I were a team working to educate my children and they were well-prepared to enter high school when they walked out the doors of ICS for the last time.

Our family loves this school and church! The teachers are godly, caring and accessible. The environment is safe, clean and well-maintained. The location is convenient to both the 395 and 495. As a military family, we move a lot, so our daughter started at ICS during the middle of her kindergarten year. She felt accepted by the kids right away and made friends easily. She loved her teachers and teaching assistants. Now that she is finishing her first grade year, I wish we didn't have to move this summer! She has mentioned several times how she wishes she could stay and go through 8th grade here. We wish that, too, but God has something else in mind for us. Before moving to the area we didn't realize how fast-paced and academically stressful Northern Virginia can be. Even though ICS challenges their students in all areas (I can't believe how much my daughter has learned in 1st grade, including being able to run a mile and do desktop publishing!), the students' spiritual development is deemed most important. Our family would recommend ICS wholeheartedly!

The minute my husband and I walked in the doors at Immanuel Christian, we knew it was an answer to prayer. Every person that we came in contact with was so kind and we could immediately feel God's presence as we walked through the halls. We continue to be thankful daily for having found this school. As we watch what our daughter has learned academically, spiritually and socially this year at ICS, our decision to send her is continually affirmed. We couldn't have asked for a better quality team of teachers and feel so incredibly blessed that our daughter gets instruction from them. It's comforting to know that although we've laid a strong foundation for our child, Immanuel Christian can come alongside and provide an education as if it's an extension of our home. We look forward what the coming years will bring for our daughter at ICS and can't wait to send our other children!

Immanuel Christian School is a safe, nurturing environment that attends to developing the whole child - socially, academically, physically and spiritually. I have two children. One, a recent graduate of UVA, and another has been a student for 6 years. There are other private schools closer to our home however, we chose this school again due to the well rounded and challenging curriculum, in partnership with the nurturing christian environment. Teachers at ICS really care and our sons have grown spiritually, not just academically. This school will stretch your child, providing advanced curriculum for students who are excelling, yet also offers programs for those students in need and struggling. Music, Art, Spanish, PE, Computer Lab, and Bible are all part of the core curriculum. The facilities are beautiful, wonderful playground and athletic fields, and many of the faculty have long term tenure. Parents are fortunate to have many opportunities to be involved within the school and the child's classroom. We have been on field trips, attended class parties, listened to bible verses and shared coffee with the Principal. If you are looking for a solid foundation for your child, then tour the school and talk to other parents to see why families (such as ours) keep returning and investing in their children's lives at this school.

The transformation in our son since beginning at ICS astounds me. He now has an enthusiasm for learning and a desire to complete assignments with excellence. Neither was present before coming to ICS. Educational rigor in tandem with the nurturing atmosphere has unleashed in him a love for school. I am so grateful. My husband and I are delighted with the curriculum. Our priority was to find a school strong in Science and Language Arts. ICS has both. Our son is one of those kids who is relentless in asking questions. How grateful I am that we found ICS where students are encouraged to ask penetrating questions not only about their various school subjects but also about life. I love the way the school welcomes parent participation. We are so impressed we have enrolled our daughter; a rising 1st grader for next year. THANK YOU to the teachers, staff, and leadership for creating a superior learning environmnet in the D.C. area.

Wonderful Christian learning environment for our 3 kids! It is a blessing to put our kids in the hands of those who will give them a great education, spiritual foundation and discipline in a loving atmosphere that reinforces our Christian faith and values. The academics are challenging and our oldest went on to high school well prepared. ICS has blessed our whole family!

God is clearly present at Immanuel Christian School. Warm, nurturing, encouraging. You get it all at ICS: the very best education for the mind, and the heart as well. I have experienced an amazing partnership with ICS--my daughter is thriving! I HIGHLY recommend ICS to anyone I come in contact with, especially those looking for more for their child. One of the best kept secrets in the Washington DC area... actually, not so much anymore as word is getting out. I hear there is a waitlist for some grades.

Keep Looking - Lacks Spirit and Truth The Administrator worked at a prominent Christian university . (Romans 2:11). HIS leadership focuses on personal rights. (code word for certain political parties). HIS scripture is delivered in a rote way to preclude revelation. For ex. Each third grade child in a class recited a bonus versus directly to HIM. (Roman 10:9-10, John 10:10). Behind closed doors if you every disagree with HIM, It is HIS personal right to exclude / discriminate for . . . [any reason] Fill in the brackets by rote. Staff, in HIS service, believe that it is okay to exclude their reasonable service. (Matthew 15:14). They fail to apply Biblically based correction: a child s fight in after care, Am I my brother s keeper? , a childish disagreement about returned work folders, Let s be careful stewards! They are VERY good at (self) appreciation days (Luke 14:8) It is easy enough to tolerate the petty legalistic disagreements (Romans 15:1). If you have truly taken up your cross, you will be unequally yoked at this school (Ephesians 6:14). There s only one PRINCIPAL (Revelation 5) . . . and Yeshua has principles. (Matthew 5). March on . . .

Immanuel Christian School has been a wonderful school for my son. He has been there two years and loves it. The teachers are professional and caring. They strive to teach to all kids. The kids get a good balance of the core academics as well as PE, music, Art, Spanish, computer lab, etc. they have separate teachers for these as they do in the public school. The students get everything and more offered in the Fairfax County public schools. The difference is smaller class size and a Christian environment. They also learn about the Bible and memorize verses. The facility is very nice. I feel great knowing my son is in such a quality school. Check it out and give this place serious consideration. I can't imagiine anyone regretting the choice of this school for their child.
