My child is neglected and penalized just because of his developmental delay..not child friendly and not all inclusive school at all. Lack of communication and hard to talk to the teacher- they treat preschoolers like fully grown adult with horrible approach.

Two of my children go to CRCS. This is one of the best decision my husband made for our children. The staff truly cares about the kids. Academically, the school is one grade ahead. If you decide to take your kids there, I am confident you will love it.

I want to share my experience with new families who is going here for a tour with administrator Kevin Lewis. I shared with him in the very beginning multiple times that my daughter is coming from a Daycare that was held in someone's home and he convinced me that everything will be fine and said this is kindergarten a new start. Then he informed me that he makes the final decision for "exam" who pass or not. New families who is going for a tour for this school needs to know how he make you feel secure and he manipulate you. Everything is fine he said that but he denied my daughter because she couldn't identify uppercase and lowercase.
The teachers are suppose to be teaching children who starts "Kindergarten" I paid for the exam I'm very concerned for new families who believes in this environment. He is not kind. I will never go back to this school. I will make sure I let my experience this hasn't be hard for a child who has never attended a school before.

All of my four children have attended this school and we all love it and highly recommend it for any family. My children have always loved their teachers and felt loved and cared for. Although some reviews complain about the discipline at the school, we feel it’s both appropriate and necessary for children to know how to behave, especially in class. I am especially happy about the new principal, but had no complaints about the last. 3 of our children have also attended public school in this area and much prefer CRCS.

They have no tolerance for bullying or even swearing, and teach kindness and respect for others. It's wonderful they hold people accountable for their actions, and ask for parent support.

We fell in love with this school when our son was in pre-k, and with every passing year we know we've made the right decision. Teaching children how to be good people as part of their curriculum is what sold us, and what an amazing difference it makes in their learning and in loving others.

They assign homework starting at a young age (no more than 10 minutes for our kindergartener) and also give them time in after care to accomplish it.

Overall experience has been great. My preschooler has shown improvements in her social interaction, and she enjoys her teachers and classmates. Even during the COVID-19 Pandemic the school continued to provide Distance Learning even for the Preschoolers, with daily lessons and assignments from the teacher. They’ve definitely adapted and thought outside the box to continue to deliver a high quality education even from a distance. They genuinely care about your child’s education. The work they’re providing is certainly advanced compared to Fairfax County.
The school administrator (Mr. Lewis) is passionate with what he’s doing but is also open to the parents input (monthly coffee sessions). All the teachers that I’ve interfaced with are professional, open to suggestions and willing to communicate with you on a regular basis.

An amazing school. The teachers show God's love in everything they do. I have a student in the preschool and I look forward to having my child stay there through 6th grade. Send your child to CRCS!

I'm not sure what they tell the kids, but it works. All of the students I have encountered either on field trips, or just walking down the hallways, have a been extremely respectful.

We currently have two kids that have attended CRC over the past couple of years. We LOVE the school. The faculty truly enjoys what they do. During our first open house the administrators informed us the curriculum was approx. one grade higher than public school. I was very skeptical, however ITs TRUE. Most of our kids friends go to the nearby public schools and we often compare the curriculum with there parents.

There are plenty of after school events, that allow you to meet parents and establish friendships. CRC feels like a big family.

I hope this doesn't surprise you, the kids are going to have homework! At first it seems like a lot, but if you do a little every night it not so bad. The school does a pretty good job at making the homework interesting.

Overall I was excited about the school but over time have learned they don’t encourage emotional support of a child. The student ratio in the kindergarten class are off for the tution you pay. Not enough help to work with kids who require a little more help with learning. There is more focus on military style school over a Christian School approach. Favoritism in certain classes over others. Suggestions are not well received and there are not tutoring programs to help children in advance grades

My kids have been attending CRCS for a few years since pre-K 3. The teachers are very professional, caring and helpful and my kids have learned so much! I see some reviews talking about the pre-K disciplining being too strict. They are strict, but reasonable and loving at the same time. Just because a kid gets a warning for goofing around (a real example from my son, which happened VERY often) doesn't mean the kid is bad. The teachers understand that kids are kids but want the parents to be aware if instructions are not followed (these happen of course as they are pre-K kids!). I was very happy that the teachers kept me engaged and I slowly saw how my son's behavior chart changed as he was maturing in his pre-K years. They were very encouraging to him and he pulled through!

We also use their extended care and the staff is equally wonderful. We were previously planning to send our kids to public school after pre-K (wasn't even entertaining the idea of private school for K and up) but changed our mind as both kids had such a great time and we really trust the school!

The new principal is very energetic and brings much business world/industry experience. He has also been phasing in much needed improvements in many areas, including much increased parent engagement and outreach to ensure our voices are heard and appropriate suggestions incorporated.

I'm very satisfied with the school and highly recommend it!

I really like the amount of homework! A lot of times there are required homework and more optional activities to do, helping kids that have the bandwidth and ability to do more! I like it that it's definitely more than public school's work, but it is not at all overwhelming.

This is our third year at CRCS. We are very pleased with the education that our children are receiving. The teachers are caring and supportive. The new Administrator is approachable and does a good job communicating with families. The curriculum is well rounded and challenging. I like that it is a smaller school. This provides for more individualized attention and your child is not lost in the crowd of endless faces. There is a "family" feel to the school. I highly recommend CRCS.

This is our first year here and my kids are really enjoying the school. You will never find a perfect school and there may be one or two things that you might not like, so overall we are pleased. I'm pleased with the curriculum and very glad that they added art this year. The new administrator is trying to make changes for the better. Again it's like anything else in life, you won't and can't please every parent. We are reenrolling and we would recommend this school to new perspective parents.

Calvary Road Christian School is an excellent choice! My child has attended the school for 3 years and we could not be more pleased with the superior academic curriculum, Christian worldview, and friendly staff. Each and every staff lives out a Godly example and inspires students to grow in their relationship with Christ. I oppose the previous post in that the administrative team (including all office staff) are friendly and eager to help. The tuition is very reasonably priced for the northern Virginia area, thus making a quality private school education affordable. The new administrator has excellent vision and communication. Overall, I give Calvary Road Christian School a rave review. Please don't be dismayed by a single parent's perspective, for this is not an accurate portrayal of the school.

My child has been a student for the past four years and I must agree with a few of the other reviews. It has gone down hill. Prek 3 and only 1 kindergarten teacher is worth raving about. My child excelled and was nurtured but now the class room size went from 12 to 20-21 really that is a public school class room. The curriculum is awesome, I will say that. The warnings are ridiculous. The children cannot not be children. It's sad, if you are a working mother or father and you want to know that your child is being nurtured not damaged because they are kids they send 3-5 warnings home a week over nothing. Run the other way.

Calvary Road Christian School is an amazing school!. Students are treated with respect and the staff are very approachable. The students are challenged in the areas of foreign languages, technology, creative arts, music education, physical education and of course character education. A high level of academic achievement is expected and each student is treated fairly. The teachers are always happy to help a student with any specific academic or personal struggle. They also have a superior reading program through Scholastic, which really boosts reading performance. This Christian school is an excellent choice.

This school is selective on who they like and who they don't. If your child is liked they will excel. If not they will knick pick at every little thing and are a little over the top on discipline. For example if your kindergartener answers a question without raising their hand they get in trouble. The staff is not very accomodating and can be very rude. This school does not have the resources for any counseling needs your child may have. This school reminds me of the military. Their academic program is wondrful but there staff needs improvement. My child has come home with disciplinary notes and I have had other teachers tell me that he did not do what was indicated on the note and not to punish him. Unacceptable! Find a place that treats your child equally and fairly.

Avoid it!!!! going down hill fast. A lot of new staff and including principal and he is not much better than the one that left. New front desk lady is rude previous one was very pleasant. Enrollment has decreased dramatically. Classes are larger which defeats the purpose of one of private school benefits. Higher grades are being eliminated. This school is about the money and the "christian title is a decoy". My friends child was not given their report card due to a less than $2 balance! Unfortunately there are more negatives than positives but there are a few phenomenal teachers and staff there who truly care about the students individually and their success. My child will never return to this school and If your child goes here I would advise you to be cautious on believing complaints about your child and stay informed from all aspects. Document everything and don't give them the benefit of the doubt. Listen to your child and find out about their day daily. There academics are wonderful and I have nothing negative to say about that. There are many other schools in this area who truly believe and live by its purpose and goals. Good Luck!

This school has an EXCELLENT 5 out 5 Academic Program. This school by far takes the cake and they do NOT use Abeka curriculum. My son went to Calvary Road for kindergarten and first grade. He is a straight A student and is very advanced in all areas especially reading. This school has the Key to academic Success which is a strong desire to see their students succeed, the ability to make learning fun and an outstanding curriculum. The reason I gave 4 stars out of 5 is because the school lacks greatly in the social and emotional development of the students. The school does not have a counselor or anyone designated to help students that may be going through difficult times. School counselors are vital to aid and support the emotional, personal, and social well being of the students. My son in the entire 2 years had never been to the office and he got in trouble at the end of the year was told he basically he would be kicked out if he did not obey. Bullying seems to be taken lightly here. This school is a little excessive on discipline. I think if they had a counselor they would have a more positive approach to dealing with social needs of their students. Ms. Dickey is the BEST!

Smalll. Very very small. The middle school has only 3 classrooms ( plus a computer lab) and the hallway(the only hallway) is very cramped. Every time i goto pick up my child i am pushed up against the walls by other students. And they inter use the gym and the cafeteia! the floor is sticky with sweat and smells during the lunch time. They also force the children to walk over from building to building in the cold or rain and even snow! There is only one caring teacher in the whole middle school. All the others are just there for the pay. This is definetly not a school i am sending my child back to.
