My 3 sons went through Ni River Middle School, and all had great experiences. Middle school is the most challenging time for boys and in my experience the staff handled navigating my son's through extremely well. My oldest was in the gifted program, middle had a learning disability, and youngest went through the pandemic. The classes were small enough for the teachers to work with the kids and most of the kids in the school participated in academic, athletic or artistic activities. The counselors and teachers were there for us whenever we needed support.

While I was at Ni River I was bullied on the bus and when I told teachers they did nothing about it. My experience at this school wasn't the best.

As a former student who was often a target of bullying, I can say that the school deals extremely poorly with bullying. Bullies weren't even actually punished, even after telling the counselor multiple times. As well as they hand out unfair punishment (favoring a party in a fight, favoring white students to a decent extent.)

When a POC student threatened someone in the school he got suspended, but a white student did the same thing (this threat was worse too) and simply got told off. Or when a black and a white student fought, the white kid got suspended for a shorter period even though he started it.

my sister (currently) and I (formerly) both had one of the teachers there, she was extremely unfair to students. (She yelled at one of her students for asking where the paper was.) This same teacher also gave impossible amounts of classwork and homework, she also had favorite students.

Most of the teachers are relatively nice, but some of them simply shouldn't be teachers. Whether they just can't handle kids or shouldn't be around them.

Not to mention some of the ridiculous rules that were in play while I was there. You had to sit two seats apart during breakfast and you weren't allowed to talk. You weren't able to go to the bathroom in between classes because there was only one person allowed in the bathroom at a time. If you asked to go during class you'd be declined and yelled at usually. Mostly if the teacher happened to not like you.

Some teachers didn't deal with disabled kids very well, especially with kids who had ADHD, dyslexia, and other less noticeable learning disabilities. Any disabilities that they can't see were seen as laziness and incompetence. My friend had trouble understanding what the teachers were teaching and when I tried to explain to him on a level he understood I would get yelled at. They also advocate for mental health but all but one teacher refused to let a student miss one assignment because they were going through something or simply couldn't handle it. They passed this off as students being lazy and incompetent too.

In P.E I couldn't run because me having VCD (vocal cord dysfunction). It would've both left me coughing, and incapable of breathing properly for an extended amount of time. At the time I had thought it was asthma and when I told them I couldn't breathe during or after running they simply didn't care. They didn't care even when I had coughing episodes.

Overall, not a good school, It's terrible.

I am an anonymous student currently participating in this middle school and I do not find this school very well, The classes are hard to listen to and there is ineffective "rules" to "prevent" bullying while it happens severely often, The new rules that require students to be 6 feet apart are usually ignored by all student. Sometimes, Students will not wear their masks and the teachers will not care.

I just finished 8th grade at Ni River and I have to say the school is not as good as it seems. I was one of the many white students at this school and it was very noticeable that students of color were targeted by teachers and administration. I would notice that many white students would yell and disrupt class all the time and get little to no punishment. But, students of color would whisper to a friend or make a funny face and get way harsher punishments. The school also deals with bullying terribly. The school really needs to work on these issues.

The school is great and the school focused on my interest and I still wish that I could go back and finish my high school years there

The principal lacks the proper level of intelligence to oversee a school. She speaks as if she's not educated and allows incredibly inappropriate activities to occur on campus.

From an ex-students view This school has a LOT of bullying that goes unnoticed. Some of the teachers are rude there too. I would give this a 0 star if I could. Nothing is good about this school.
