Very good school and nice teachers. My kindergartener loves it!

My experience at this school has been quite positive.

They assign homework as practice and review. They try to limit homework to 30 minutes or less per evening.

In general, teachers are effective. The majority are totally vested in ensuring that their students are learning and achieving. There are some who are less effective, but sincere.

They are trying and are doing the PBIS program. They seem to have a lot of behaviors to deal with.

Leadership needs to be more involved with the student body. Many students don't even know the principal's name.

Posted: February 23, 2019

They have a large range of learning differences (such as students with little English proficiency, students with learning disabilities, and students in self-contained autism classes). They seen to be effective with the learning difference, but there is no way to know this unless you are in the classrooms.

They have a bullying awareness program and really do take bullying seriously. A friend's son had a problem with a few classmates and they took care of it immediately.

This is my son's first year at this school coming from Hugh Mercer. Although my son's teacher is nice, friendly, she seems to address my concerns, there is a disconnect somewhere. I was used to getting tons of papers of information, homework, reminders from Hugh Mercer, now I feel like I'm pulling teeth to get anything from this school. It's not but so much information I'm going to get out of my 7 year old so a detailed weekly or even monthly letter to parents would have been great. I could go on but I think I will be switching him back to Hugh Mercer because of these reasons.

My children have attended this school since we moved here in 2009. The staff has an exceptional way of ensuring that the parents stay involved. Even though it is a larger school. The principal ensures that she knows all of her students names and helps to ensure the quality of their education. The only downfall is the pta. As others have stated, unless you are the cool mom, or have money they want nothing to do with you. Which is a huge throw off to many parents who want to be involved. Other than the pta, this school is amazing.

The teachers are awesome and do their best with what they have. My child has had some fantastic teachers while attending HRES. It's a shame that parents are not kept in the loop unless it's with fundraising. A good chunk of the PTA is scandalous, snotty, and cliquey. If you aren't fortunate enough to be in the "cool mom" clique or have money, you are often looked at like you have a disease or just an inconvenience. I have so many new ideas to spruce things up but unfortunately I'm not cool enough to matter to them. Really sad because they preach anti bullying yet they bully other parents and make them feel inferior.

It's the school that my kids go to and the teachers and staff really work with to make sure that your child is getting the help that they need
