My child had an amazing experience at St. Paul's. The school sets a wonderful foundation for students and helps them prepare for kindergarten. I would highly recommend this school and I wish every student had the same experience as my child had in preschool.

My family was treated very discourteously by the head of school and the price is a bit out of line with other local area schools for poorer facilities. On the whole, the educational program does not appear to be grounded in any sort of broader educational strategy.

I had a mixed experience with this school.

On the positive side: As another reviewer noted, the teachers are well trained and very caring. And the school has a charming location in Old Town Alexandria.

Cons: After my child started, I learned that the school, and particularly the "headmistress", has a poor reputation in Alexandria. I did have a run-in with her. Also, the price of the school is higher than other schools in the area.

St Paul's School is a rigid environment designed to prep kids for the assessment-driven world of private elementary school. The teachers are well trained and very nice. However the school is ill equipped to deal with students outside the norm, such as gifted children.

This is school is well run, and has the right balance of learning and play. They do not take things too seriously and the teachers and administrators are easy to talk to and confide in if necessary. The children are happy, engaged and stimulated. My only beef per se, is that sign language is taught as the "second language" and since there are no hearing disabled students in the school, I don't really understand the emphasis. Seems like a foreign language or better yet, music would be a more practical language to learn. Overall, I would highly recommend this school -- it is safe, clean, and provides a pretty well rounded experience.
