The teachers by far are most outstanding thing about TMV. When I ask my high schoolers who their favorite teachers are, they name many and then conclude that they are all good. They work to build relationships with students and act as amazing mentors.

This school gets a 9.5 out of 10. The parent community is not as involved as it could be.

TSMV has smaller classrooms so all the students are engaged. Severe learning differences are not accommodated but those students who are gifted are encouraged and those with disabilities do have the benefit of more time and attention.

Our son is entering his senior year. We are really pleased with the quality of the teachers, curriculum, administration and students. Smaller class sizes means the teacher/student ratio is low and the student satisfaction is high since each person feels seen, heard and valued. It's also great that all the students can play sports, study drama, art, and music since there are no cuts for activities. In other schools it would be unusual for athletes to be able to do both drama and athletics. Humane letters has been instrumental in my son developing his reasoning, listening, and discussion skills. The math and science teachers have catered to his desire to explore theoretical concepts beyond the classroom. The opportunity to explore topics and write term papers over the one-week winter break has been invaluable and has helped my son define his areas of interest while honing his research and writing skills. He enjoys school and we enjoy this community of life-long learners. It's really been a great three years and know that his senior year will be a super year as well.

This is our first year at TMV and my child is thriving in this collegial, fun, thoughtful, academically challenging school. The school works hard to promote its nurturing, intentional and accountable culture. The culture at TMV supports excellence and the same-sex classes allow boys and girls to succeed without being encumbered by concerns about the opposite sex's perception of them. As for the religious life, my child noticed, "At TMV, they really live out what they believe about the Bible, they don't just talk about it." The parents are involved and incredibly welcoming. Older students are kind to younger ones. TMV has a strong, positive school spirit. We are so glad to have found this school!

2009 Blue Ribbon Winner...Only private secondary school in Virginia so rated for the last 5 years. One child is in 2nd year and has dramatically improved in desire to learn and in performance. Only school I know where older students mentor the younger as a matter of course.
