There is a new special education teacher every single year. Teachers and students speak negatively about the special education students and don’t believe they belong at Claremont. I hear about incidents on the playground and in the cafeteria about kids jumping off tables and fighting. This is not an environment for learning or that seems to foster community.

I went to this elementary school 5 years ago, my experience there was horrible the staff had no idea how to deal with bullying and as of now the same principal is still there. When i went to the counselor everyday the staff did not care. I had my 4th grade teacher throw away my food because "it smelt bad" which was what i was gonna eat, this teacher still works at the school. I had told teachers about my bullying experience yet the teachers agreed with the other side and the principal said "She's getting out of hand" this is really upsetting to hear as a 4th grader. The principal had at least 10 years of experience of working at the school at the time which tells me she "knows how to work with children" Please if you see a parents review do not listen as I was a child at this school and some children do not want to speak out and tell they're parents active problems.

A school should, among many things, value education, create good work ethic, promote intellectual development, and, most of all, provide a safe environment for kids to thrive. Without the latter, i.e., removing bullies and other extreme troublemakers (of which there are many), or at least identifying and treating the problem, none of the former will manifest. My kids sometimes cannot distinguish good from bad because the school has not applauded good behavior and castigated bad bahavior.

Homework is oftentimes seen as optional by many teachers. The sometimes given homework is not difficult for any child performing at grade level and very often is not graded and returned. This was true for every grade so far for my kids.

For my kids, there has been a steady decrease in all of these traits after attending/leaving CIS.

Test scores have been trending down for years. Teacher retention rate seems low—every year there are new teachers in most grades. Even vice-principals and admin staff have a high turnover rate.

In the case of CIS, can only "strongly agree" that "school effectively supports students with learning differences" if you hide bullies behind the veil of "special ed" and then favor them over their victims.

Bullies are never punished fairly, victims are victimized for being victims, and the problem only get worse year by year. Parents generally have no idea who the bullies are because the school does not inform them that their kids may be at risk in the classroom. Admin will never admit to knowing about these kids and cite "privacy" but one can equally argue "liability" if admin knowingly puts violent kids in with other kids and, God forbid, something bad happens. Parents are genuinely surprised when informed that their kids are in the same class with bullies that the school is already aware of. School admin acts surprised or ignorant when reporting known bullies.

Claremont Immersion is a wonderful school. After six years, our child is exceeding our expectations in Spanish (coming from an English speaking home). The Administration is engaging and available to both parents and students and expects highs standards from the students and staff. We appreciate the diverse school community and the active PTA. I highly recommend this school.

My son is in 2nd grade now and has been there since Pre-K. My daughter is now a kindergartener and I couldn't wait for her to go to Claremont! We love this school! The principal is amazingly involved with the kids and the family, the teachers are so helpful and dedicated. the entire staff is absolutely kind and respectful. My kids LOVE this school. They learn in 2 languages and there's nothing that quite match that! The PTA and all the parents involved are very dedicated. Everybody involved really cares.

Great school until 5th grade. I encountered few incidents with a new teacher since she was constantly bringing my child down. Not everyone has the passion to teach. Other than her, they have great teachers.

I couldn't be happier with this school. I am lucky to have my son in Claremont. The staff is great, the vice principal and principal are outstanding and even the school itself is beautiful and special. Special that is the best way to describe this school! I am a happy mom!

Claremont Immersion has exceeded my expectations since 2008! The teachers and staff are wonderful and parents are very involved. It's a great community.

We have a 3rd grader, 1st grader, and a future montessori 3 year old. We moved from California and couldn't be happier at this school. The facaulty and parent involvement is the main reason.

My child attends this school since kindergarten. I had some concerns at first, if he could advance in math and science because, these are subjects that are taught in Spanish, but I think the teachers of these subjects are wonderful and have made my son a bilingual child. I recommend this school 100%

For anyone concerned about math and science instruction in Spanish, my son has excelled in these subjects. He's not a native Spanish speaker. He is going into the most advanced math classes available in Middle School. I'm not saying that all experiences are alike - but that in our case the language was no barrier whatsoever. I also feel that science has been implemented extremely well at Claremont, especially over the past 2 years.

Claremont is an excellent elementary school. The instruction is stellar and the teachers are enthusiastic and make extra efforts to work with your child. Science is taught through a hands-on approach by teachers who only teach science. Despite the fact that we don't speak Spanish at home, my 5th grader is fluent in English and Spanish and excells in subjects in both languages. The principal is especially accessible to parents and students. She listens to and communicates well with parents and students and holds her teachers and staff to the highest standards. The school population is diverse and the emphasis on learning about other cultures has broadened my childrens' horizons. The parents are also very involved and compliment the efforts by the teachers and the administration. I would highly recommend this school.

I am generally pleased with the school. The 3rd Grade Teachers win all GOLD medals in my book, particularly Mr. Staten. Parent involvement is tremendous in a positive way. I enjoy the activities and events held to encourage camaraderie amongst and between the parents and students.However, I wish the Spanish Immersion aspect of the school could be changed so that the most important subjects, Math and Language Arts and Science could be instructed in ENGLISH...Perhaps having the Music, Art, and even PE be the classes where strictly Spanish is spoken would be a better way Immerse the children, they'd still be hearing & speaking the language & learning those concepts in Spanish, This way, they don't lose out on their mastery of the most important subject matters because of a lack of understanding of Spanish. Overall, the school, teaching and Extended Day Staff are great!.

I wish science was better implemented. Having a child lose interest in science during school each year is not fair. Luckily we provide summer enrichment. The art program is spectacular and the changes to give more time in Spanish have worked really well.
