I am a former employee at the school, so I know the school is NOT a great school. They are just money hungry, with outdated materials and every class does the same thing, no matter what age group. The teachers have no say so in how to run their class or what to teach. It's all run by the office and these people have NO educational background! What puzzles me is the turnover rate of teachers...all the good ones with educational backgrounds leave or pushed out if you go up against the grain!. Teachers are not allowed to be effective because it may make the office staff look like they are a failure. In this day and time who does not encourage a 3 year old or even older to recognize their name and/or begin to write it? I find it hard to believe parents actually place their children here!

There is no leadership! They are very poorly ran with no collaboration with the teacher's who actually work with the children.

The school is very good at dismissing children with learning differences with saying they have a behavioral issue. Children learn differently and the whole school doing the same thing, no matter the age is not appropriate, especially for children who may have issues. No one in the office (who run the classes) have any type of up to date training or experience on children of ANY type!

As a former employee at this school and seeing the inside, I rate this school as poor.

My child has gone to this school for 2 years, and while expensive, we love it. We love the friendly environment and wide variety of education she received. The school is diverse with leadership and faculty that care and keep parents well informed. So glad we chose this school.

My first two children attend Fairfax Academy from the age of 2 thru 2nd grade (they are now 8th and 9th graders) and the solid academic foundation Fairfax academy provide help both help start off their elementary and middle school education be ahead of public schools standards. They also provided excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination with both parents, students, and staff. Their individual attention to the education, safety, and growth for each child is evident as my first two are now very well round and excellent role models for their peers, they are now 13 and 14 year olds, and as I start over with my 3rd child at 2 years old and living down south near Dumfries, we make the commitment to commute with him to Fairfax in Arlington so that he too can get the special and solid foundation to help him also be successful as he evolves into a good citizen and role model. The effort and sacrifice is worth it for my son.

my daughter attended FAEL in the late 90's. this was one superbly run program. the teachers and staff were so caring and loving. the dance recital was a wonderful treat. my daughter benefited so much from what she learned while she attended. it was the one place where we felt safe sending our child. thank you all so much for being the wonderful school that you are.

Today is my daughter's last day at the Fairfax Academy and I am truly torn! My job is moving out of the Arlington area and I will no longer be able to make the commute. My daughter is almost 5 years old and has been with Fairfax Academy since she was two. In the 2 and half years that she has been here, the staff (teachers and administration) have helped me work through temper tantrums, her being a picky eater, and even her biting phase. As a first time mom I heeded all of the advice I could get my hands on and I have to say that their experience, advice, and help has helped me become a better parent! My daughter is well mannered, tries new foods, and most importantly doesn't bite!!! I don't know what I would have done without this school! The CEO gave me her personal cell phone number when I gave my last day and assured me that I could call her for advice whenever I need it. I know I will cry more this afternoon than my daughter will! Many friends of mine have confided that when they ask parenting questions about their child their schools are hesitant to offer advice. This is not the case with Fairfax Academy and as I said, their advice WORKED!

Seriously? What one reviewer wrote is a joke, the teachers do not want to or know how to handle learning issues! There is a problem when several surrounding daycares end up with the children that this school labels as difficult. Developmental delays and learning disabilities end up being asked not to return. Big whoop if the school looks clean and organized, when it's smoke and mirrors because they regularly kick children out. How many schools do you know that in a total of three classes have kicked out at least five children? Seem NORMAL??? STAY way if your child is not perfect!!!!

Our child has been at FAEL for nearly a year and is progressing well. We are looking at sending a 2nd child to the school as well. One thing to note ... you will not have a lot of parent teacher interaction because of their drop off at the door policy. Contact with teachers is not discouraged ... just not readily available nor frequent.
