Ambleside has been so life giving to our entire family! We think it's the best school and we have experienced both public and another private school. We have 3 kids there and they are all flourishing. They love to learn, love going to school and love their teachers! It's not only rich and varied academically (there are 17 subjects!) but it's been transformative in forming good habits and discipline! We have also enjoyed the approach of "education is a science of relations -- and their reports of growth (report cards)-- demonstrate their relationship to content-based knowledge, skill-based knowledge, relationship to others, relationship to work (effort), and self-management (character/maturity trait growth) are insightful to where they are growing/where they need to develop. It is truly an oasis where the true, good and beautiful are explored and cultivated. The art and handwork they create are lasting treasures. We can't say enough about how thankful we are to have found this place!

Ambleside is a Christ-centered school where the teachers coupled with the Charlotte Mason curriculum draws students to worthy ideas, the joy of learning, and the satisfaction of work well done. We enjoy the parent/school partnership which reinforces the formation of worthy habits and Biblical character.

As a 25-year-old Ambleside alumna...trust me. This is the education you want for your child.

I have nothing but high praise for Ambleside. As a K-8 alum and returning staff member, I've attended many Christian schools but none of them had as formative an impact on me as Ambleside. This school gave me my worldview and many of my passions and interests. I 100% would not be the woman I am today, nor have the relationship with God that I have, without my formative Ambleside education.

Here, I learned to love God and delight in His creation. But I also learned how to deeply appreciate beauty, friendship and literature. Ambleside made me a reader and some of my favorite memories come from reading wonderful classic literature in class. Many of the books we read are still among my favorites today. Nature study, handwork and Shakespeare classes (for ALL grades) are also among my favorites. The teachers are amazing and they really do care about your child individually, as a person.

Unlike other private schools, Ambleside truly appreciates beauty, simplicity and the natural world in EVERYTHING, including the classroom aesthetic. The lack of competitions, extra-credits, or grades (no worries, they still do formal assessment in all subjects) taught me to truly love what I was learning without the stress of tests or quizzes. At high school, with that grades-based approach, I found myself disliking the subjects and only studying to pass the test and get an A. I genuinely forget much of what I learned at other schools. That did not happen with Ambleside.

If you want your children to grow up into faithful, mature, responsible, wise, well-read and communicative young adults who appreciate beauty, live by foundational good habits, and give back to their community...I cannot recommend Ambleside enough. I wish they had had a high school when I was there. I could sing Ambleside's praises all day. Oh, and they're tech-free and do everything by hand with analog materials such as paper and pencil and PHYSICAL BOOKS. That's HUGE.

Ambleside truly does prepare students not only for high school, but life. I returned to work here because this school holds a very special place in my heart. I even plan to educate my kids according to this method. Ambleside is the way Christian education is supposed to be.

We sent our first child to Ambleside b/c she was bored in her public school two years in a row (too much time spent in 2nd and 3rd grades on class discipline and bringing kids up to the median). We were attracted by an education that kept God in the picture, since we were already teaching that at home, but frankly it was problems associated with large public school class sizes that caused us to switch. Ambleside’s small class sizes (12 to 16 students) make a huge difference, both academically and socially: kids cannot be anonymous. So they learn to participate and they learn to get along, which are huge life skills. At Ambleside, kids come home mentally drained, because they have been reading and discussing books all day, with teachers guiding rather than lecturing. They also usually come home inspired and happy, because the curriculum consists of short sessions across a broad range of topics, focuses on great stories, persons art and ideas, and includes a lot of hands-on and outdoor time. The combination of this educational approach, the school’s being Christ-centered and its emphasis on the development of good habits and character led us to send our other two children to Ambleside as well. By 8th grade graduation, they were mature, socially well-adjusted, articulate and able to think critically, with authentic faith. Great results.

We are so grateful for Ambleside school and the Ambleside community. We knew almost nothing about the Charlotte Mason philosophy when we joined the school but were drawn to the joyful attitude we found in the staff and the kids. We’ve since discovered how impactful the CM teaching style is and how much our kids have thrived in this environment. We’ve watched them learn to take control of their own behaviors as they feel supported and encouraged, as well as challenged, in their school relationships. It’s a unique place and we’re so grateful to have found it. We know it’s going to shape our kids learning experiences for the rest of their lives.

We have been constantly impressed with the curriculum and overall educational and social aspects of Ambleside School from Kindergarten through third grade. We have no doubt this excellence will continue through the rest of the grades. The school community feels much more like family, including the professional staff of the school. The subjects taught ranging from Shakespeare to stitching have introduced our child to knowledge, skills, and experiences that would be entirely unavailable at any other local school, public or private.

As a Christ-centered school, Ambleside complements the work of the family and the church by establishing the critical link between learning and faith. It prepares students for responsible, insightful, and creative participation in society. The school equips students to actively engage the culture and to serve Christ with all of their strength, as they discover His calling.

This is not your standard Christian school. The children are trained to use their brain at a very young age. I have two children at the school since kindergarten and the both love to learn. After holiday breaks, they are excited to return. The teachers and staff take the time to teach character building, something that is lost these days. Besides the wonderful curriculum, kids enjoy time outdoors to be creative and appreciate nature. I could go on and on why I love this school as much as much children do. It is a hidden gem.
