Best of the Best!!! This school is outstanding and goes above and beyond the standards of education. My four children attended this elementary school and I left sadly because I knew the teachers don’t just teach but become family to the children. My kids were safe and were taught with respect and care.

Fantastic school!! Principal and staff cares about the students. Both my kids got a great education and experience at ROSA PARS, so the thrived in Middle and High school!!

Top notch education with dedicated professionals. We like the IB approach and our kids have responded favorably to the methodology. They integrate parents as much as possible giving us many opportunities to receive and give feedback.

Rosa Parks is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, which means there is additional curriculum on top of the state's curriculum that helps students learn about developing themselves and seeing other perspectives. IB programs focus on good citizenship, charachter and integrity and how we impact the world.

I loved Rosa Parks my children went here for 5 years and I was very pleased with the leadership and the willingness to work with families to meet the needs of each child.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, there is an entire layer of curriculum on top of the state Program that helps students learn that there is a world outside their little bubble. IB programs focus on how each person has an affect on the entire world, and focuses on good citizenship, charachter and integrity and how those traits impact communities locally, nationally, and globally.

Virgina has strict guidelines on how a student can receive support for special needs. Rosa Parks complies as well as every other school. As Rosa Parks is a magnet for IB, it attracts a lot of families looking for an advanced curriculum. The advanced curriculum has no state regulated adaptations for special needs, but staff is very accomodating, smart and compassionate, and will always do whatever it takes to help a willing student learn.

My family has had a first hand experience with bullying and Administration did not tolerate the behavior in any way at all, and intervened with the offending family with Every resource at their availibility.

Daily classwork is rigorous, and homework is supplemental, or often not issued. There are not many breaks during the day, so they emphasize excersize and free reading at home.

Absolutely fantastic. I didn't have high expectations as they're part of the public school system. Now, after 3 kids and 10 years at that school, I would put Rosa Parks at one of the top 5 elementary schools in the county.

The entire family is welcomed into the school community and the students are beautifully supported at Rosa Parks. Administrators, teachers, and staff are all extremely responsive and caring. The IB philosophy is one I'd like to see my daughters maintain throughout their lives, and they are getting a strong start here. I can't imagine a more creative or caring Start and Signet teacher than Mrs. Boissiere. This school rates a "10" in my book!

I have two kids at Rosa Parks and we have been very lucky throughout the school years to have some great and supportive teachers. I like how the school applies everything my children learn to real life application. I think this school is preparing them well for middle school and to become young adults.

Rosa Parks is an incredible school! The staff are all committed to every single child. They help meeting the needs of every individual child to promote a safe and welcoming learning environment. My child loves going to school and loves learning thanks to Rosa Parks and their committed teachers, principal, vice principals and every other staff member. We moved into this schools district at the very last minute, and our son started Kindergarten. We couldn't be happier with this school!!! Everyone has been so wonderful, and accommodating. The principal and vice principal are top notch, and we absolutely love all of his teachers as well. We truly were so very lucky!

Ms. Danielson is amazing. She takes a personal interest in every child and their well being. she is very attention to detail oriented and the teachers are wonderful with the children. I am so excited that my children got to experience such a wonderful school.

They are extremely organized and spend time to listen parents concerns. The only school I ever seen taking the kids to their parents vehicles to make the process a lot easier to the parents.

My 4th grader has been at Parks from K-4. My 2nd graders from K-2. There is a bit of high turnover in staff. The administration is "big" on academics, discipline & ensuring each kid is treated fairly. Its a strict environment where kids are expected to excel. If your child is self motivated, the better he/she will do here. You 100% have to work with your kids at home & stay on top of their academics or they may have a hard time here. The admin holds a ceremony every quarter to award the kids for their hard work. Parental involvement is extremely high. All of the friends that I've made since moving to Woodbridge/Dale City, I've met by going to different events at the school. The school is a health conscious environment &, in my opinion, frowns on unhealthy food items in the kids lunchboxes or carried into the school. They don't allow cake or cookies to celebrate birthdays either. The school is kept clean with lively & colorful walls, the cafeteria is clean & well operated, the office staff & nurse is organized, & the security is good. I have not experienced discrimination or negative treatment here. One thing that I don't like about the school is that there aren't a lot of after school activities. Mostly girl scouts and boy scouts. There are no sports leagues, etc. When I was in elementary, we had elementary sports leagues, majorettes, & cheerleading all held at the school after school hours. If you want your kids to be involved in extracurricular activities you have to go outside of the school and sign them up in a city, community, or district league. With the amount of land attached to many of the schools, the high number of kids, high parental involvement, and the close proximity to other nearby schools with large land lots, I would think that having after school leagues & other schools to compete against would be doable. Maybe there is a stipulation that wont allow it. Additionally, the zone for the school is a nice, family oriented, & diverse area in Dale City with single family homes & townhomes so many of the same students that my oldest daughter started with & befriended are still here. The school is diverse BUT the staff is not (I'm not sure why that is) however, the staff seems to have great control of the children. No school is perfect but this is a really great school. My kids are challenged here and overall they're doing well so I give 5 stars.

Rosa Parks ES was a good fit for one of my children- an easy, bright child who is self-motivated. For two of my other children, both Special Ed students, it was a poor fit. They are a very regimented and somewhat strict environment, and for a child with processing, ASD or other special education needs, it's not supportive or flexible enough. The individual teachers vary in their approaches, of course- and some of better than others.

The music program is wonderful, and the music instructor, Mr. Bernstein, is gifted at working with children- even children with challenges.

The school presents well; the facilities are clean and new and bright. The office staff is sometimes hostile and not accommodating to parents, and this was off-putting on many occasions. If the tenor of the administration could find a way to be more flexible and less stringent, this could be a very successful school. Alas, for us, it was a mixed bag.

If you have children with special needs or an IEP/504/BIP, exercise caution and stay on top of everything. Expect bumps.

My Special Ed students were both utterly failed by this school, to the point PWCS recommended we pull them and do home study. My bright, advanced placement child did very well.

One of the best schools. They treat you in a very personal way. The principal and her assistant know each name of the kids. Staff make you feel at home. Discipline is great and they know how to challenge kids. Technology is updated. Overall, a great place to bring your children!

Not sure what or who that previous parent is complaining about but my daughter has been at Rosa Parks for 4 years now and we love it there. The teachers that we have had and the ones I know are wonderful and have always praised and helped my daughter. Not sure how she can take a bad experience with one and talk bad about the whole school. I would recommend Rosa Parks to anyone, we love the staff and administration and could tell you many great things about them!

This school was a horrible experience for our family. The students have no freedom at any point during the day, the teachers regularly tell the students how bad they are on a daily basis without ever acknowledging good behaviour. The guidance counselor especially bears caution as she levels unfounded accusations which cause much harm.

My child attended Rosa Parks from 2nd grade through 5th. We were very pleased with the whole experience. Prior to Rosa Parks my child attended Pattie, and I can say first hand they are light years apart. Rosa Parks staff is great, teachers are kind and responsive, my student and I both love it.

Rosa Parks elementary school is EXCELLENT! The past principal and current principal both have put their hearts into this school to make it what it is today. You can feel the warmth when you walk into the school. The staff knows each child by name and that is very impressive. My daughter always achieves honor roll and has learned so much in her 4 years at Rosa Parks. Thank you Rosa Parks staff for giving my daughter an awesome start.

This is an excellent school. The resources seem to be used in the best way possible. Lots of technology and a fair amount of diversity in the staff...people of all ages, different ethnicities, & both genders.

This school has everything I could ask for in a school. An administration that is beyond outstanding- very in touch, caring, involved, fantastic communicators, and quickly solves any issues. The instructors (including the music, art, PE, science, etc.) are very dedicated- and passionate about what they teach. The four classroom (home-room) teachers I've got to know very well are all exceptional! The classes appropriately challenge my children. My kids always come home pleased with this school. They love school- it is fun to them and they are most certainly learning every day. I feel like my children are treated like individuals here, not just a part of a group. They are very in-tune to my kid's feelings and immediately detect something when they aren't being their normal selves- and immediately contact my husband and I. The front office staff must have the greatest memories- they know the kids by their names and our situations at home. VERY HAPPY WITH THIS SCHOOL!

Great leadership. Sound basics. Solid discipline. Strong communication. Family friendly. Principal makes decisions based on what she would want for her own children. Rich activities- talent show, music programs, fitness. Excellent music program. Instruction- Committed gifted education staff. Classroom instruction varies, as w/any school. History and science are given short shrift by most teachers. A science lab is in the rotation of 'specials' each week. Reading instruction is quite strong. Writing could be more rigorous. Kids are not taught cursive in any coherent way. Mathematics is a mystery- teachers have not bought into county's new math program and so they appear to rely almost exclusively on Accelerated Math which is a pretty boring and low level test/drill/test/drill approach to math instruction. This is an area where they could improve. Technology use by teachers is above average. PTO is active and school has good resources- it is relatively new.
