My child was at a highly reputable private school for kindergarten and struggled emotionally. He got into peer conflict and would talk back to teachers when redirected. (Not the whole school year but enough that we were concerned). We switched to VLE for first grade and they have been amazing. Our son has not had one issue with behavior and he is thriving socially. The staff was great with communicating with me about my sons challenges and assigning a teacher that would help him navigate the structured environment. He is also advanced academically and was bored at the private college prep school, VLE has kept him engaged this year.

My son started kindergarten here and landed himself into the gifted program. He will continue to be placed in the program for the rest of his remaining school years - even through high school, granting him many opportunities in the future. This was all possible because his kindergarten teacher recognized how bright he is and recommended him. We will forever be grateful for Ms. Harris, shes is an incredible teacher. Ms. Sullivan is great at running the gifted program.
Hes in third grade now and really enjoys the program, and everything else this school has to offer. The teachers and staff have all been absolutely fantastic. Mr. Wray is an excellent principal, very involved and engaging, and knows every student by name. The front office is professional, kind, and helpful.
Safety is important here and as a parent, I appreciate the measures taken to ensure it continues to be a safe environment.
The school events hosted by the PTA are always a lot of fun, as are the student clubs, like the STEM club. Our daughter will be attending this school as well, and we are a very proud Westie family.
The parents are also incredibly helpful and involved - with many volunteering to participate in different capacities (subbing, lunch time assistance, school clubs, PTA, school events, WATCH D.O.G.S (dads of great students)) to name a few) to make this school so awesome.
There is always something fun to do here, the students and kids are all bright and kind, which is one of the schools mantras (#bethenicekid), and its a fantastic community with really incredible teachers and staff to make it all possible.

They loved their school so much that they go and volunteer for the school to continue be part of the Victory School Family. Victory Staff provided them with the tools they needed to be successful in middle school. Go Westies!

Victory Elementary has a wonderful principle with wide crew of support that starts at the front desk and goes all the way down to the cafeteria. All of my kids attend there and have for years. I have had interaction with teachers at all grade levels and my children are prepared to go to the next grade every year. Even when there was some extra support needed, the school provided those resources to my child and they are now on level with where they should be. I would recommend Victory to anyone who asks.

Honestly Ive had nothing but issues with this school since moving into the community two years ago. My kid was sick and the nurse didnt bother to call all phone numbers for me or her dad. Just one. Since she got no answer, she sent them back to class sick. No emergency contacts were contacted or anything. The way Principal Wray handled it was terrible, at least from my perspective. He told me to email him if I wanted follow up. Um no. You contact me once youve remedied the issue so I as a parent can be confident my child is safe, well and happy at school. Im not confident AT ALL.
Bullying runs rampant in this school as well.
My kids teacher is a good teacher but shes terrible at communicating. I feel like this is the least of this schools problems.
I look forward to the day we can move to get away from this school pyramid.

A no bully policy is instituted at Victory!
Posted: October 30, 2018
It appears each teacher has a different policy when it comes to homework. If it's assigned, how often, if it challenging vs. lesson review, etc. I strongly value that my elementary-age child is not hampered with excessive homework, however, I would like to see quarterly projects assigned based on that quarter's lesson.

My son started in Kindergarten at Victory and is now in 4th grade. He has been fortunate with 95% of his teachers.

There is a no bully policy. Victory annually hosts the Watch Dog program (dad's volunteer for a day). They annually have Character Counts week. They are doing a great job!

The principal is involved. He has the right attitude for the job. The kids enjoy seeing him. He is not seen as the ominous "principal" the strikes fear into the heart of a youngster. Rather is he happy, smiling, and gets to know the students.
Office staff could be better.
Posted: January 25, 2017
Posted: January 25, 2017
Both teachers really care about their profession and the children. They seem to be involved with the kids.
Posted: January 25, 2017
Does not seem challenging or engaging for the kids. Have been buying books and doing additional homework with them.
Posted: January 25, 2017
I have two first graders at Victory Elementary. The principal is always professional and easy going. Kids seem to love him. The office staff is touch and go. Sometimes you have to break it down to the lowest common denominator for you to be understood.
Teachers- have one new one and one experienced one. New one embraces technology and is responsive to questions via Class Dojo. Wish the experienced one would use it as the child with her needs more oversight. That said, both teachers seem to do really well with the kids. Good at directing them to accomplish tasks.
I wish the curriculum was a bit more challenging (yes, in 1st grade) as half the year has been a review of things learned in kindergarten in another state.
Overall, I am pleased with the school. I do not regret purchasing a home in this school district.
Again, just wish it was more advanced in what is taught. Something a bit more challenging.
Posted: November 21, 2016
It seems to be a perfectly good school if your kids are on track, but VES is an unwilling partner to kids who need more advanced work. The principal arranged to have our boys move up to 3rd grade for a portion of their math lesson, which sounded great, but he failed to mention that the work was entirely independent. For about a month, where we thought they'd be getting extra instruction, they got no instruction at all from the 3rd or 2nd grade teacher in math. They did the work independently in 2nd grade, graded it in 3rd, and went back to 2nd while the 3rd grader teacher spent another hour actually teaching the other kids. My kids were literally teaching themselves.
Their mistakes were given as proof that they weren't ready for 3rd grade math despite the fact that they were doing as well as most 3rd graders would have done with no teacher. I realize there were scheduling limitations, but I resent the dishonesty in hiding the full extent of the situation from me and then blaming it on my children's aptitude. Looking back, I have a very hard time believing this was not a scheme designed to fail.
It is a comfort, however, to realize just how far ahead the private school got them last year. In 1st grade at a Montessori, my boys each tested at the 3rd grade level in math on the ITBS, 96th and 99th percentiles, and one even managed to pass an impromptu 3rd grade math SOL given by the principal at the start of 2nd grade. They know fractions, multiplication, division, negative numbers, and probability, and yet here they are at VES learning how to count the bunnies. Apparently this is correct.

Victory Elementary School is awesome. I have a rising 4th and 1st grader. We are a military family that moved from the Hawaii public school system. At the beginning of the year my 3rd grader read at 1st grade level. In just one year at Victory, she improved TWO GRADE LEVELS in reading. My Kindergartener started school last year without being able to read and now she can. I can't say enough about this school. Both of my childer are so excited to start another year at VICTORY!!! Mrs. Aanderud and Mrs. Roberts are superb teachers!
Update: Another year in the books and my kids are still in love with the school. My daughter is entering 5th grade and will be sad to say good bye to Victory Elementary!

Victory Elementary is truly a school of excellence! All four of my children have attended Victory. I rate this school so high because of the dedicated and extraordinary teachers. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Staples are the best!

Most of the teachers are very nice and helpful. Some of the office staff could use some work, the attendance line is atrocious. They don't bother to take your child's name down, then the same person calls you a few hours later saying your child is absent. I don't know if this is due to language issue. If your child excellence in PE don't expect them to get any praise, actually just the opposite. I feel the vibe of this school is push down children that are excelling at a high level and praise the children that have behavior issues or functioning a low level. This method robs a motivated child of their desire to push themselves.

The principal is doing nothing more than counting her days to retirement(Parents are too). She tends to stay in her office all day and micromanaging from her computer/desk and has no clue to what is actually going on in the building. Web pages aren't always up to date. Some staff members yell. Office staff is great. Discipline is poor in the building and on the bus. Class sizes are large.Trailers! So sad for a newish school. Smaller schools in the county get subjects like, music art and gym more times throughout the year because they have days they can go instead we get stuck with having guidance and math science. Guidance should be available for student needs. The math/science teacher shows videos all the time. STOP videos. The school used to have a great drumming program, but when a new teacher was hired she sold all the instruments to another school?! Why it would be allowed that an inexperienced teacher would be allowed to sell equipment is sad? Songs that she teaches are taught throughout all grade levels from year to year, so students are getting the same lesson every year. Music performances have also gone down hill in recent years. PTO has fab after school programs.

My son went to this school. The facility is very nice and activities are plenty. His teacher is excellent and there is teacher-parent conference every 2-3 months. My daughter will be in the same school after this summer and she is very exciting about going to the same school as his brother for K.

Both of my children have attended this school since kindergarten (one now in high school) and it has been a great experience for the whole family. The only reason I didn't give teacher quality a "5" is because of a very small few. The staff in general is fantastic. This school started out well and has only improved over the years. The principal does a great job of finding quality personnel and runs a tight ship.

Both of my children attend Victory Elementary, and we are very happy with the quality of education, excellent teachers and superb office staff. The vice principal is amazing and very involved! Both of my children love their teachers and look forward to going to school each day!

Our two children who attend Victory Elementary School love their school. It has been such a blessing to have a wonderful staff and a great principal and wonderful teachers. I have a child who was placed in special needs last year and this year achieved Honor Roll. All the teachers involved in helping my child have done everything to make sure my child gets the best education and the needed help. I cannot be happier to see my childs progress because everyone especially her teacher has put forth the effort to see my child thrive and succeed. I feel that the school, teachers, principal and staff genuinely care about each and everyone of the students especially those who have special needs. I also feel like a part of the family when I visit the school, always greeted by name by the staff. All in all this is a fantastic school!
