All 3 of our children graduated from Mountainview. We feel truly blessed to have been in the MHS district! 2 of our children completed the International Baccalaureate (IBS) program and were early admissions to University of Virginia. Both graduated from UVA and are positive that their enrollment in the IB program was a key to their success.
All 3 were in the orchestra as well as other clubs and school activities and loved their experience at Mountainview!!

Both of our oldest teens attended Mtn View HS and it was a great experience. Our kids seemed to have less issues with cliques or bullying or any of the other typical HS issues. The principal is fantastic, the teachers care, the counselors take time to meet with kids and parents. We've been overseas and lived in several states (being in the military) and we were VERY happy with MVHS. Our kids were involved in the culinary program, swim team, and Marine Corps JROTC.
Compared to other high schools in the area, we are glad our kids went to MVHS instead of North Stafford, Stafford, or even Colonial Forge. In fact, we have one more going into MVHS and we look forward to a good experience again.

Excellent School. Strong academics, sports and activities. The principal is fantastic, well liked by parents, teachers AND students.

We came up from Florida for our Granddaughters graduaion ceremony last week. We didn't know what to expect. It was wonderful. It was very apparent the principal and staff were enjoying themselves as much as the students and families were. They obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the ceremonies to make them special for each student and their families. We could tell the principal and staff cared greatly for each student. Thank you for a wonderful experience, especially in these troubled times. We and our family appreciate everything you all did for our granddaughter and all of the other families.

My son is a Junior at MV this year and took Honors, IB and AP (college level) courses. He was challenged and grew academically this school year. The amount of homework was just right in these high level courses to still allow him time for sports, music lessons, and a reasonable bed time ;)

All of my son's teachers were exceptional. Mrs. Gady his IB Lit and Lang. teacher did a phenomenal job! Mr. Thompson, his IB Physics teacher was amazing. He not only challenged the students but built relationships with each one.

The higher level courses at this school build character by getting the students to think and evaluate outside the box on projects in different subjects throughout the year . They also build character by teaching responsibility and initiative through team building activities in many of the courses. My son will definitely be prepared for college after attending Mountainview!

MV is a wonderful school that is academically challenging, provides a magnitude of activities and clubs, and has competitive sports!

The teachers are fantastic, as are the classes I have to choose from. The cafeteria food is TERRIBLE, and students are not allowed to leave the building to get any other alternative food option. The security guards are very rude, demanding where you are going as if you're some hooligan about to shoot up a school instead of an innocent student walking to the bathroom. Staff can be very difficult when it comes to incidents in the home, such as a death in the family, a surgery or serious disease that has the student out for weeks, or anything else that cannot be helped. Once had the school call my parents to verify I was not forging my doctor's notes to get out of school. Just ridiculous and overly suspicious. I get that in recent times, schools need to be on guard, but stop treating every single student like they're up to something bad.

Their utter lack of shop classes is a incredible disappointment. At my old school i could take welding and woodshop and all that stuff as a freshman, but here you cannot until youre a junior as it requires you to take a bus to another school. The cirriculum is terrible. I just hate this school.

My three older children graduated from Colonial Forge High School having attended from 2000 to 2008. We saw the school change dramatically over that course of time and decided to enroll our 4th child at Mountain View HS in the IB program. We couldn't be happier with the school - students, faculty and staff are wonderful and communication between the administration and the parents is exceptional. I find the incidence rates in the school are lower than they were at Colonial Forge, comparatively speaking. And while many in the school district insist the scores are higher at one school over another, I personaly don't see it. The history scores are 1% lower but their reading and writing scores are higher as of 2010. It's a perfect fit for my child - academically, athletically, and socially.
