St Lukes Day School

Saint Luke's Day School Alexandria has seen FOUR of my children go through their wonderful preschool and Kindergarten. I am continually impressed with the level of caring demonstrated by all members of faculty, staff & host parish. Students appear delighted to be there, & my children have loved their experience. Children who spent their Kinder year at St. Luke's were more than well prepared entering the larger elementary school the following year; I just received their test scores back and one of my kids, who was FTT & suspected of having PDD & asperger spectrum tested immensely above benchmark; I credit Saint Luke's for developing him into a great reader & classmate. Other schools may have been daunted by his issues, but SLDS concentrated on lovingly helping him to adore school, encouraged his scientific curiosity, aided him in important social development like transitioning and making friends and participation, and over all helped him and all my other children who have attended feel like valued students whose contributions intellectually & socially are valuable and worthwhile. Individuality is cherished and respected here.

St. Luke's is a very special place. The director of the school is amazing and sets the tone for everyone else. The school offers many enrichment programs during the regular school day as well as after AND provides many opportunities for parents to be involved in classroom and school activities. All this works together to provide a real community experience. My daughter did her pre-k and kindergarten here and is extremely well-prepared both emotionally and academically for 1st grade.

My daughter is in her 4th year at St Lukes She LOVES school and can't wait for the weekend to be over to go back. The school is the perfect mix between academics and play. The kids are nice and every teacher amazing. Spanish, Creative Movement and Music are part of the week. Kids can elect to stay for lunch and extra activities such as dance, art, science and gymnastics. Head of School is very involved and communication is excellent. Lots of fun extras too, like 'olympics week', 'election day' 'how down days' beach days' 'safari week', etc. Lots of fun stuff for parents to come and watch. My daughter is very prepared for Kindergarten and got into every private school that we applied to, I credit St. Lukes. Another huge plus is that they have a 5 day a week option starting at age 3.
