I have consistently seen staff and co-oping parents at SHPS raise children up and expect the best of them. The kids have fun and they learn so much while they have fun. I am grateful to SHPS for challenging me as a parent, and for loving my kids and everyone there so well.

Sleepy Hollow is a wonderful preschool that encourages learning through play. This philosophy has been a perfect fit for my active little 3 year old. The students spend plenty of time throughout the morning moving around, both outside and inside through open centers. When my son began his first year at Sleepy Hollow, he had a very hard time with me leaving. I was so impressed by how nurturing and empathetic his teachers were during this transition. They went above and beyond to learn about what would help make my son more comfortable. All of their efforts quickly won him over and the rest of the year was extremely positive! He grew so much and developed a new confidence that had carried over into his second year at SHPS. My husband and I have really enjoyed the co-oping aspect of this preschool. Being in the classroom once or twice a month gives us the opportunity to observe all the wonderful learning that takes place through play. By watching the teachers, we have picked up some wonderful parenting tools and language that we carry over to our home. We highly recommend Sleepy Hollow Preschool to anyone looking for a fun, hands-on, and warm learning environment.

The SHPS staff is amazing and there are two teachers in each classroom, which makes the school very unique. In addition, SHPS has an administrator and a director that everyone knows and adores-Debbie is filled with knowledge, experience, and a true passion for children! The teachers really care about each and every child and they spend countless hours creating an emergent, child-led curriculum. The children are outside every day! Open Centers, also unique to SHPS, offers numerous opportunities every day for building fine and gross motor skills. Painting, cooking, measuring, building, racing, driving, gluing, cutting, singing, dancing, and much more! The Pretend Room is a special place, a huge room with special activities built around a monthly theme. So many of my children's teachers in elementary school and beyond have commented on how "ready" my child is-that is from all of the learning through play that they did at SHPS! Add to all of that, our "school family" is special-it's a very strong community of support and love through which my children and I have all built strong friendships that we still enjoy today!

This is out second year at Sleepy Hollow and we absolutely love it. The teachers and staff are knowledgeable and caring, and they work very hard to ensure a rich learning environment for our child. The co-oping aspect allows us to be in the classroom with our child and to see her develop in new ways. I was skeptical of the learn through play style curriculum at first, and worried that she would not have all of the pre-k skills needed. Sleepy Hollow has helped her learn to be ready to learn and through that she has acquired skills that have enabled her traditional learning.

This is a fabulous co-operative preschool in Fairfax County. The environment is nurturing and fun. Not only have my 2 children learned so much during these few years while they were here, I have too. The teachers are wonderful and caring and the Director has been a perfect representative of how a school should be run. We have had a great experience here at Sleepy Hollow. Helping out in the classrooms has allowed me to grow as a parent and form a wonderful bond with my children and their peers and parents as well!

All three of my children attended SHPS. It has been a positive experience for our entire family. By co-oping, I was able to participate in their education in a helpful way. By observing the kindness and respect that teachers extend to all children, I was able to learn more effective ways to communicate with my children. The community is special - we made lasting relationships with other families. The staff and director are all sincere, nurturing, and experienced educators. My kids each have a unique personality, which was embraced at SHPS. So grateful we discovered SHPS and highly recommend the school to others.

Sleepy Hollow Preschool is an excellent preschool choice for someone looking for a cooperative preschool experience. My two sons both attended and our family had a wonderful experience. The staff is caring and nurturing to all students. They have an emergent and play-based curriculum, which the days even more exciting for the children as each one is truly centered around their interests. The philosophy of the school is that children learn most appropriately at this age through play, and yet the academics somehow magically are achieved. It is a warm and caring place for any child to begin their educational career, as well as a wonderful place for any parent to grow in the most important job of his or her life. Sleepy Hollow Preschool not only prepared my boys for Kindergarten, it also helped me to become a more confident parent through the time I spent in the classroom co-oping. It truly is a special place!
