One major improvement would be reducing screen-based learning and returning to paper workbooks, especially in the early grades. Students should spend more time on classroom instruction, complete more meaningful homework, and receive greater support from teachers. Adding teacher aides to classrooms through fourth grade would provide more individualized instruction and help keep students on track. Schools should also strengthen parent involvement by partnering with families to address gaps in foundational learning and ensuring parents are actively involved in reinforcing academic expectations and supporting appropriate disciplinary measures when needed.

TERRIBLE SCHOOL. The boys get to bully other people and the teachers don’t care. But if a girl messes up they will get punished and humiliated in front of the entire grade. The bullying was out of hand this school year. The teachers favor some students and not others for no reason. The school was basically run by the 5th grade boys, it was so messed up. The subtle racism and insensitive jokes and comments made were out of hand. Don’t send your child here.

Excellent school with caring devoted teachers and administrators that miraculously meet the needs of an incredibly diverse population of different needs students from those with learning disabilities to advanced academics. My children and those of my neighbors are thriving here academically and socially. Our entire community is thriving because of Belvedere. My children and their peers are surrounded by caring adults in this community-with Belvedere at its center.

This is a good school. It is the only IB PYP elementary school in FCPS. It got the Distinguished Title 1 achievement award this year ( one of 2 ES schools in Virginia ). I am surprised that the score is higher. Teachers here are great. Happy that both of my kids attended.

I feel very lucky that both of my girls had a chance to go to Belvedere Elementary. The school has a great spirit, PTA is very active with soooo many options for after-school activities. Plus I could not wish for better teachers for my girls. Mr. Klos is a dream teacher who in addition to academics, also helps kids become well rounded individuals who are self-sufficient, emotionally aware, globally minded and independent. Five stars.

Great school! IB primary program; only public one for elementary in Fairfax County. Excellent teachers and principals...caring counselors and an amazing PTA! This is a very diverse Title I school with an AAP program as well as a preschool, headstart, sacc, and PTA run afterschool enrichment program all year. I'm a parent of a student and also volunteer.

I volunteered here one day/week in 2013-2014 while my children attended Belvedere. It's a wonderful place. The new administration and PTA completely turned this school around from where it was in the early 2000s. Both of my children had wonderful years, met terrific friends who live in our neighborhood, and had outstanding teachers.

Belvedere Elementary has experienced a dramatic transformation for the highest standards in education excellence since the arrival of Principal Vanderhye in 2010. The tone for parent-teacher interaction has improved markedly resulting in greater parent participation. Belevedere now warmly welcomes parental involvement. The PTA is unbelievably active and supportive of the schools many diverse programs. One of the most recent additions has been the introduction of the WATCH D.O.G.S, a National PTA sanctioned program that involves fathers and father figures to be present at the school to support any activities that the principal request of them throughout the school day. Over 100 dads are looking into how they can sign up. Transformative!!

These reviews are out dated; Belvedere has a new dynamic Principal, will be the first elementary school in Fairfax to implement the IB program in Fall of 2013. The student population is very diverse.

I is an educational learing machine for kids! My child loves it!

The Advanced Academic Program is an excellent opportunity for more advanced children to further develop and improve, (and not getting bored), beyond the standard class room curricula. The AA Resource Teacher, does an outstanding job in this respect. However, as far as the normal class activities goes; it depends entirely on the teacher's capabilities and attitudes. Unfortunately, the principal is most interested in being a principal, and does not foster any welcoming environment for parents to get, and be involved with the school. This is evident when you look at the participation at the PTA events. Fund risers are always the same old hat, new initiatives, of any kind, are non-existent. Spend one year involved in activities at Belvedere ES, and you will know how the next year will pan out. And the next....

I am very surprised at this schools ranking. I moved here from Frisco,Tx which has excellent schools. My children LOVE Belvedere! They are being challenged, have great responsibilties in school, and are having fun. The teachers and staff are always kind and are prompt in handling any questions I have had. There are so many things going on at this school it is hard to keep up! I am truly happy with our decision to send our children here and hope others will visit the school before judging it. It really is a wonderful school.
