My child experienced neglect here. Came home starving every day, teacher was throwing out the food and not allowing enough time to eat. Child suffered severe anxiety from this school. Had issues coming home soaked in urine from not being toileted or diaper change. Issues with other children hurting my child and the school not reporting it and attempting to cover it up. Do not send your child here if they are nonverbal or unable to communicate what happened. Teacher refused to communicate with parents about whether basic needs were being met for my special needs child. IEP was not followed or developed at all. Teacher was openly gas-lighting parents about the severity of the child’s condition. They refused to give child resources that they had available at the school and were not at capacity, based on the teachers ‘belief’ that the child was ‘fine’. The child has 3 different diagnoses from a neurodevelopmental pediatrician and the school refused to accept it. The school attempted to blame the parents as if it was a behavioral issue ‘at home’. Teachers denied seeing any behavioral concerns, but there was physical evidence that it was occurring. Parents observed child at school and child was presenting maladaptive behaviors. Childs academic progress worsened here, and teacher attempted to present it as if the child got better and acted as if she cured my child’s conditions. 0/10 would not recommend.

I personally have had a few bad experiences with this school. In one of the online meetings with one of the counselors and the principal, the principal was on the phone the whole time and muted. He was not really paying attention to my kid's IEP meeting, I was very sad to see this, counselor was a little bit embarrassed and apologized at the end of the meeting. In a different occasion, I had another counselor approaching my kid and interrogating my child like my kid was a criminal about an incident in the bus ride home. I followed up on this with the counselor, she mentioned she interrogated all the kids, I just think there are better ways to ask questions. When my kids started school at the Villa the rating was 8/10, no wonder why the rating keeps dropping. Small school and it has its advantages, but the staff needs better training and preparation. People at the front office have always been AMAZING.

This is a great school with caring teachers and staff. Have two kids there now and it has been a great experience!

While I find the principal and vice principal both friendly and pleasant to speak with, the issue of the teacher ignoring me and refusing contact unless it’s under her conditions is still being allowed by her superiors, which are the vice principal and principal.

I have told my child’s teacher, and now VP and principal, several times he is severely ADHD, and while they hear me say it, nothing is being done to work with my child towards accomplishing a successful year at Fairfax Villa. We come from Orange County schools in FL, and people trash FL school all the time, but we had nothing but excellent experiences and cannot wait to return to a school that values its students and parents, as well as the child’s individualized needs.

The communication between teachers and parents, and teachers and children with more attentive needs is not a concern to the faculty at Fairfax Villa. Children are being expected to carry a much larger responsibility than most children their age are capable of at all times.

I have been intentionally avoided by my child’s teacher for almost an entire month. During a phone conference she made tasteless comments about my child, to which I responded appropriately, and she can’t muster up her own ego to apologize to me directly or continue the conversation. Rather, she sent her apology to me via the principal, whom I do happen to find pleasant.

My child’s teacher appears to enjoy putting others down, shaming them publicly, asking if a child has taken their medication that day in front of other students, and disrespecting the parents of the child. Someone like this can’t possibly provide help in building a foundation for children to display positive characteristics etc.

I have had nothing short of a nightmare experience in dealing with Fairfax Villa. Poor communication from the teacher, lack of respect from the teacher for the parent’s concern or their time, poor treatment of my child while in her classroom, asking HIPAA questions aloud at her desk for other students to hear, using the principal as a vessel for an apology to me rather than apologizing herself. Their grading system is a complete joke and presents no real accuracy in students’ performance. The school has too many students per classroom, and for students with more individualized needs it prohibits them from growing as they need to, especially when the teacher has demonstrated bias behavior towards your child.

We love Fairfax Villa! Our daughter has been attending this school since kindergarten. The teachers and staff are wonderful, the school is very comfortable, and the kids seem to be thriving. I'm very surprised that the rating, which used to be an 8, is now a 4. In fact, I'm beginning to question this site's methodology. The 4 rating seems to be an unfair one.

Homework is provided on a daily basis but never to the extent where it interferes with personal demands of the student or parents.

Accountability and honesty are pillars of the school. inappropriate behavior is not tolerated and is promptly addressed through disciplinary actions.

My youngest daughter has been going to FVES since third grade. She transferred to the school from Mosby Woods after we moved. MWES would not let my daughter stay even though her older sister was still attending MWES as part of the AAP program. Despite the logistical nightmare of having two kids at two separate elementary schools and despite MWES being ranked higher we are thankful for having our daughter at FVES. It is a gem - the teachers and administration are unbelievable. The parents are heavily involved and the students - who come from all different backgrounds are a charm. My daughter's academic performance has improved significantly since joining FVES. Much of that can be attributed to the quality of the staff and the smaller case sizes. We could not be happier.

I had a chance to have lunch with my 1st grader on the first day of school. I overheard the teacher said to a kid who sat next to me "Don't do this. It is uneducated." I was surprised / shocked. Is this how a teacher talks to a 1st graders on their first day of school? How could she talk to kids 6-7 years old kids like that. What did she expect? I am so worried whether my kid is going to be ok.
