At first glance, this school appears extremely promising. However, it falls short in significant ways, particularly in areas of transparency, engagement with social issues, and genuine inclusivity. While it presents itself as being rooted in Christian values and standards, this commitment often feels more like a performance than a lived reality.

As a predominantly white institution, the school makes little space for students of color. Black students frequently experience alienation, with staff members exhibiting microaggressions and showing a lack of warmth or fairness toward them. For example, when a black student was called the "N" word daily. The administration, defended the white student and there was no system of reconciliation. The environment tends to favor only those students whom leadership personally approves of, with admissions and treatment sometimes influenced by factors such as denomination, family background, or personal history. IF your student id "different" in any way and docent fit into a "White" mold, you are treated poorly. They favor business and community leaders children over traditional students and give them privileged that other students are open to.

While staff may initially appear helpful, their attitudes can later reveal judgment and exclusion. The current leadership, in particular, does not reflect a healthy or authentic model of Christian leadership.

GPS has been our home for our two girls for the past 5.5 years. Our children have received a quality education, based around Christ. We love the small classes as we have had the opportunity to personally connect with our teachers and staff and become a family. We love that the curriculum is faith based and provides a biblical worldview. The university model allows our children to receive lessons and support from the teachers as well as here at home and also has led to increased independence and a strong work ethic. Go Warriors!

GPS does not have homework. Instead they have home study days. Student's attend classes on MWF and are home on T&TH. They complete assignments on T&TH. That allows for lots of family time and extracurricular activities that our family values.

The teachers work hard to learn how each of my kids learn. They have tailored their education specifically to their needs. They are loving, kind, and talented. Upon admissions to the school we verified that each teacher has a degree.

There have been changes in the leadership of the school over the last few years. Each change has helped the school grow. Each person has brought a unique perspective to the school. This year the administration team seems to work together really well

GPS is a small, private school and does not have the resources of public schools. This has not stopped them from working to make sure each student gets the best education possible.

We have not been personally affected by bullying. I have not seen it going on at the school. That is not to say that it may not happen but if it does the school is dealing with it appropriately.

Teachers have annual training addressing bullying. Administration has a bullying box for students to anonymously post problems. There are policies that are enforced concerning bullying.

The university model is great, but this particular school has gone downhill. The current board is unresponsive to parent concerns and has a "my way or the highway" approach. We left anfter 3 years straight of financial mismanagement by the board.

This school is excellent. It is a careful blend of private school and home instruction that allows children K-12 to develop well academically. It requires parent involvement on the home satellite days, so it is not for everyone. For those that are able, however, it is a terrific experience. Class sizes are small. Teachers are devoted. Parent involvement is welcome. Christian beliefs and morals are nurtured. Sports are accessible and inviting for middle and high school students. The cost is reasonable due to paying teachers for part time work, so it is an economical investment.

This school is a wonderful outlet for the independent students on the high school level and for the need to be socialized students on the elementary level. The teachers truly care about my children. I know that they do their best and it's evident in my children's growth spiritually and academically. This is a great school for the mom that doesn't fit the bill to home school anymore, or the mom and dad who just want to have their child attend a safe, academically charged school.

This is a university modeled school. The student and parents have work on the at home satellite days. The teachers work hard and most are certified teachers. This model isn't for the weary...it is a Preparatory School. you will work to earn your grades, but the model leaves room for more family time, appointments and parents' control over their child's education.

Though GPS is small, learning abilities vary & the teachers balance this well. Class sizes are small &the teachers cover material in a quicker time than public school. The 2 school days are used for teaching. The 3 home days are mainly reenforcement work from school days. Depending on your child's understanding of the subject material, home day hrs will vary! Communication w- teachers & organization is a must for parents, esp. if you have more than 1 child. *Gifted/high achieving- Public schools w- high class sizes are unable to differentiate due to lack of time &funds. @GPS, teachers can work with your child's ability & set challenges. Bonus-you have time for home differentiation! Our home day work avg was about 2-4 hrs. Some days were longer due to experiments, discussions, or because they were being lazy! *Slower learner/high energy child- Your job as a co-teacher will be different. Your avg. day may be 4-6 hrs due to breaks or the need to be retaught lessons. Teachers at GPS are there to help & do whatever it takes to see your child succeed. Try to remember, all students & parents have good days &bad days, but at GPS the teachers & admin do their best to help each child!

However, the school places a lot of work on the parents. If you were used to school lasting 3-4 hours, or looking to lighten your load as a home school mom, BE FOREWARNED. Since the very beginning we have school on SATURDAYS because I just can't think any more on Fridays. Many assignments take twice as much time as predicted (4 1/2 7+ hourse). Think about this when you have multiple students and in both schools (MWF and TTH). Our teacher was good but inflexible. On SNOW DAYS they email you ALL the work to be done. I think I will simply order books from Bob Jones University Press and go through the books page by page next year. Except for the projects, I can "march through the books" as they do.These are the positives: children enjoy being at school and learn to work somewhat independently most of the time.

Grace is the place to be! I attended Grace for several years and it really prepared me for a rigorous schedule after I left Grace. The teachers were extremely helpful and available on our satellite (home) days if we had questions or needed assistance. I loved the small class size and "family" atmosphere, where we could worship God freely.

We just completed our first year at Grace Prep. We love the University Model of schooling and are impressed at how much our children have grown this year academically, socially and spiritually.

Our family has been blessed by Grace! Our oldest is in her second year, and she has blossomed in many ways. Academically it is challenging, but the teachers work hard to assist students if they are struggling. Because of the small class sizes, the teachers are able to have more personal interaction with each student. Socially, she has been able to form friendships with many different ages of students. She has also been able to participate in leadership positions that would not have been available to her in a larger school. Spiritually, she has been challenged in her faith, and that has caused growth to occcur. Our family looks forward to the years ahead!

There are good and bad things about Grace Prep. The school feels like a neighborhood co-op. You pay a high tuition fee because it's a private school, but then throughout the year, there are numerous "surprise" fees for supplies, snacks, parties, activities, luncheons, volunteer hours...the list is endless. You get about 5 emails daily for information or solicitation of time/money/food. The teacher is ill prepared. Every single day there is a problem with the homework-she sends a kid home with another kid's homework folder, or references material she hasn't sent home, or assigns work in a book she does not send home. Her emails are rarely without typos. Shouldn't a teacher be able to spell correctly, or at least use spell check? The administration is also disorganized. Multiple people will email parents about the same subject and contradict each other. Or, they will neglect to send parents pertinent information regarding school activities, leaving parents in the dark until the parent has to contact the school for clarification. It's a real mickey mouse operation in the front office. The school does feel warm and caring. You just have to choose what's more important.

I had 2 children in this school in 2008 and Fall of 2009. I had to pull them out because we could not keep up with the homeschooling component while we had a new baby and a toddler in the home. I will say that the curriculum used for most of the subjects primarily Language were the best I've seen anywhere else. I would send my children back to the school if we get the opportunity to do so. There is room for growth and some change however the foundation and over all vision for accademic excellence with spiritual growth remains strong.

As a rising senior at a Virginia university who is on the Dean's List, I feel that Grace Prep prepared me well for my time at college. The homework load is similar to a college work load, the teachers are professional and helpful, and the staff is friendly and informative. I feel my education was well-rounded with solid biblical foundation. I fully support Grace Prep and encouage their growth. -A Grace Prep graduate

The teachers are credentialed in their subject area which helps to assure me as a parent that every effort at quality education is happening. The children's standardized test scores positively reflected this expectation. From the faculty/staff side of things I can assure you that the child's heart is the number one concern. Never, I repeat, never, does keeping the doors of Grace open take precedence over a child's heart. I truly feel that my children have gotten the "best of both worlds" - knowledgeable teachers who truly care about my child(ren) along with "traditional home education" via parental involvement. The school accurately reflects its name: Grace - biblical integration with all classes, mid-week chapel, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and more. Preparatory - none of the three that have graduated had any difficulty doing college level work and the required biblical worldview class helped prepare them for the "real" world. Reviews are limited. At some point you need to check it out for yourself. I know you will find a warm welcome and the desire to serve you in your educational goals.

The school did NOT fail to get accredited, it is currently in the accreditation process. I have three children who attend this school and we love the model. As parents, we are actively involved in the learning process. My children have thrived academically, socially, and spiritually. I would recommend this university-model school to any family who wants a Christian environment that is academically challenging.
