GW Community School offers a challenging academic, yet supportive and nurturing environment for young adults to flourish.
I am beyond grateful for the support the faculty and staff has provided to my child over the past nearly four years of high school.
The school has also provided ongoing feedback to me as a parent, and to my child.
Teachers and faculty are always available to my child when questions or extra help is needed.

GWCS is a hidden gem. When traditional public school could not meet the needs of my nontraditional child, GWCS opened their doors and hearts. The staff is unwavering in their patience, support, and flexibility, but the key ingredients to this community are genuine kindness and compassion. The small class sizes allow for tailored curriculum and individual attention. In addition to a strong academic curriculum, the school has a variety of after school and extra-curricular activities to support the social and emotional connections that are so important to teens. GWCS is a vibrant, accepting, inclusive school that embraces and nurtures students on their learning journey.

GWCS has been an amazing school for my autistic trans daughter. She has had the academic support to succeed and get into the college of her choice. She has had the school community and friendships that she has always wanted and never found in her past school experiences. Class sizes are small and each kid gets individual attention. Even the principal is available for support. I would highly recommend this school for socially awkward kids.

GW Community School has truly been a life-changing experience for our family. From the very beginning, it was clear that this is more than just a schoolit is a community where children are genuinely seen, supported, and encouraged to become their best selves.
The environment is safe, nurturing, and thoughtfully designed to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The staff go above and beyond to meet each child where they are, recognizing their unique strengths and helping them grow with confidence. Our child has not only learned important academic skills, but has also developed resilience, self-awareness, empathy, and independence.
What sets GW apart is its commitment to the whole child. Students are given the tools, guidance, and encouragement they need to navigate challenges, build healthy relationships, and develop into capable, compassionate young adults. The sense of belonging and trust that exists between students, families, and staff is truly remarkable.
We are deeply grateful for the impact GW Community School has had on our childs life. It has provided a foundation for growth, confidence, and success that will last well beyond the classroom. We cannot recommend this school highly enough to any family looking for a place where their child will be safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our experience with GWCS has been exceptional from start to finish. The leadership, teachers, and staff are intentional, compassionate, and deeply invested in understanding each child as an individual. Weve always felt that our childs academic progress and emotional well-being were equally valued.
Communication has been consistent and thoughtful, and the school has shown an impressive ability to adapt and think creatively to support our sons needs. The care shown to students feels genuine, not performative. Its also worth noting how strong and welcoming the parent and student community is theres a real sense of trust and mutual support.
GWCS sets the standard for what a supportive, student-centered school should be.

While public school works for my oldest, it wasn't a fit for my youngest. We toured this school and my son heard these magic words from one of the current students: "Everyone here is kind." That one phrase changed our lives. From back-to-school night at a bowling alley getting to know future classmates, to the outdoor barbeque on the last day, there are a plethora of events throughout the year for families to engage with each other and thrive in the GWCS family. All kids are in an advisory group that helps them stay on track. Everyday starts with gym because the administration believes you get your brain moving by getting your body moving. Every teacher takes time to discuss any concerns. Office hours twice a week give every student an opportunity to get help or just get work done. Field trips and internships are a standard part of 4th quarter activities. Community is in the name because that's how we live and they make that happen through lots of community service opportunities in and outside of school.
Goldie and Warden, the founders, have been doing this for over 25 years and they have a wonderful formula for letting kids be kids while maturing, learning and growing.

Every single aspect of our GWCS experience has been positive! The administration, staff and teachers are all keenly focused on meeting each student's individual needs. They're true partners with my wife and I in our child's educational and emotional growth. They're sensitive to our daughter's needs and have been responsive to every request. They've also been very creative and extraordinarily flexible. It's clear that they love all of the kids and only have their interests in mind. The GWCS broader community of parents/students is strong and caring, too. Our only regret is that our daughter did not attend GWCS earlier. We love this school!

GW Community School has been a wonderful experience for our family. The large public school was not a good fit for our son. GW Community School was a God Send with its small class size, special attention, great variety of clubs, excellent teachers, strong academics and field trips. We believe that GW Community School will prepare our son for 4-year college and beyond.

GW Community School is more like a family than a school. The teachers and leadership team know their students exceptionally well. Every graduate have known over the last 20 years has thrived under the care and attention of the faculty. This school is for students who need a safe place to learn and grow and stretch to their full potential. They are accepted for who they are and challenged to be better than they could ever have imagined. There is no better school in Northern VA for students to fall in love with learning again. After our son struggled to connect with other students in his mega public high school, we tried GW. Best decision we ever made. Our son loves this school for the small classes, supportive teachers, and interesting class discussions. The school offers Honors and AP classes and SAT prep for Juniors and Seniors. My son's classes range in size from four to eight students, so they get a lot of individual attention. The small class size also allows the teachers to cover the material in class and homework is therefore much less than in public school. The teachers really care about the students and want them to do well. There are also alot of clubs and sports for my son to participate in, including drama, robotics, and basketball. He actually looks forward to school everyday. If your child is unhappy in his current school, you should take a look at GW.

This is an amazing school. Ms. Warden and Mr. Goldie have created an environment that is both challenging academically and supportive emotionally. The small class size allows the teachers to work with students so they can succeed. While it is a small school it has a huge heart.
