My first grader thrived last year. The teachers, the administration and support staff all genuinely care about the kids and about their learning. Their teachers are responsive and action-oriented. There also is a very engaged PTA that plans and provides extra opportunities for learning, fun and growth. The student body is diverse which leads to shared-learning and cultural understanding. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for my child.

My son has spent three years at this school, and he loves it and loves his friend, he is in 5th grade this year, and the teacher gives him a fair amount of school assignments that prepare him for the Middle school upgrade.

I can't speak to this personally because my son does not have any learning disabilities.
Posted: December 20, 2018
Thankfully we have not had to deal with this personally. I have not heard any stories of bullying from friends and neighbors at all.

We have loved coming to Laurel Hill. My son has done K and 1st and I'm sad to be leaving. (Military Family)
Posted: December 20, 2018
I"m neutral to this because my son only did K and 1st so homework is not a big part of school.

My son has loved everyone of his teachers at this school.

The school started a postitvitey project this year where the kids learn and practice character traits each month!

There has never been a time when I'm at the school for a school function and have not seen the principal. She's friendly and great with the kids and always addresses the parents.

Overall we are unimpressed with this school, poor education foundations and no support for parents.

No homework policy makes homework habits in the future difficult.

No experience, most of the teachers are under 25 years of age.

I am very pleased with this school. We are going into our 2nd year (Kindergarten + First) and my loves school. The teachers are very qualified and have done a wonderful job teaching and making learning fun. The school is very diverse with many nationalities. As a military brat that traveled the world, it is wonderful to see my child's classroom filled with people from so many different cultures. PTA has a nice selection of after school programs. The administrative staff does a very good job keeping parents informed. This is a great school in a great neighborhood.

My daughter is new to Laurel Hill this 2013-14 academic season. This is a very diverse school. The school has a anti-bully policy. Because of it, a very shy little girl has started to shine. She now looks forward to going to school everyday and have lots of friends. As parents, it was worth the expense to move here from another part of Fairfax County and to my daughter so happy. And that said a lot about the principals, teachers and staffs at Laurel Hill E.S.

My kids have been at Laurel Hill ES since 2010 and I can only say good things about the school's leadership, academic rigor, teachers, and even the SACC program. My kids have been appropriately challenged, are excited about learning, and have had really dedicated, caring, and excellent teachers. My kids love just going to school and are proud Laurel Hill Lions. The PTA is strong, too. Nice newer building.

Our two boys have been going to Laurel Hill since it opened. The teachers, Principal and staff have always been very caring and professional. We are especially happy with the staff at the after-school care (SACC). They don't just watch the kids until they are picked up, but they involve them in sports, fine arts, occasional field trips, sports and dance competitions with other school SACC programs, etc. My sons miss their SACC activities when school is closed. Thank you miss Bridgette and staff.

Laurel Hill is an outstanding elementary school. The Principal and Vice Principal are very involved with the students and parents. The teachers are skilled and energetic. We've had a very positive experience.

We opened up Laurel Hill when it was a brand new school and have been at the school for 2 years. The principal runs a tight ship, and maintains a good balance of discipline and fun. The vice principal is very popular with the parents and kids, and is very involved in the community. The teachers are outstanding and responsive. It's a real community over there and I couldn't be happier with it. We took our kids out of private school when the school opened and it was a great decision.

Laurel Hill is an elementary school serving grades K-6. I had three children attend and can say that we were very pleased at each grade level. The school is inviting but secure. The office staff are welcoming and can often be found escorting a tardy child to his classroom in the early morning. The administration is responsive. There is one Principal and two assistant principals based on upper and lower elementary. The library is nice, there is an elevator in the building as it is two story. There are two guidance counselors and a large cafeteria. We were pleased with our children's time at LHES
- Recommendations: Silverbrook
- What did you like? The teachers. Mrs. Mitchell in fifth grade made such a lasting impact on our daughter we will never forget her.
- What did you dislike? It was very very large and very diverse. At times my middle son had trouble on the bus, I wish that the dismissal time was more better staffed to monitor all the children waiting to get home each day.
