Our family has had a wonderful experience with Oak View. The teachers are hands on and communicative and willing to answer questions about progress. We feel our children have received dedicated attention and are pushed in the right way to showcase their strengths.

Oak View is not a place where children are nurtured. They are stigmatized and silenced. More effort is invested in covering up problems than addressing them. Children are punished when parents raise concerns.
Ask about the reported 1:15 ratio. The actual ratio exceeds 1:22, even in "small" classes. This is greater than the national average and is one example of what is reported vs. what truly goes on not matching up.
There are good people here like Mrs. Sweet. This school could be great. But at Oak View, a false reputation is prioritized over the children. Students are pathologized to direct attention away from systemic issues.
An honest self-assessment is needed to better support children and keep them safe. An authentic and open dialogue with parents is also needed. They demand accountability as a school should, but avoid claiming responsibility when they harm students. This sets a poor example for students and has had lasting impacts on children and families in Fairfax.

My daughter recently graduated from 6th grade at Oak View after having attended starting in kindergarten. We had amazing teachers throughout our time at Oak View and the administration and staff are all excellent. My daughter absolutely thrived here - what a great school!

Oak View build a strong academic foundation for my oldest child to achieve academic success in middle school. He has some learning challenges (on an IEP) and his 3-6 grade teachers were helpful, empathetic, and patient. They encouraged all of us in his academic success. He is in middle school now, taking honors classes, and on the honor roll. My youngest child is in the AAP level IV program. His teacher has been tremendous in navigating the COVID-19 situation, keeping an active child engaged, and is similarly helping him achieve a strong academic foundation. From IEP to AAP, I highly recommend Oak View, since it is a school vested in your children's future academic success. Great school--great teachers!

The teachers are amazing. They really made virtual learning work. This year theyre working hard to get the children adjust to being back in the building full time.

We have all four of our children at Oak View, and I cannot say enough good things about this school. Each of our children has different strengths and struggles, and the Oak View leadership and teachers have been wonderful about working with us to ensure each child succeeds individually. This school truly cares about building strong character and teaching empathy, which I think is incredibly important. Oak View provides avenues for advanced academic achievement, while at the same time supports those students that need additional assistance and encouragement. Most importantly, our kids feel loved by their teachers, which at this age, is one of the most important aspects of a great learning environment.

My two daughters are attending oak view. Both just love going to school. Happy to see how much they love their classmates and teachers and enjoy being students in oak view! Preciously, they were in different public school in Fairfax county, top rated. But they were not as happy as now. As far as the happiness concerned, I would say oak view should be to rates for my 2nd grader and kindergartner. Very satisfied!

There is virtually no homework in the early grades, which is the way it should be. =)

We have been at Oak View for nearly 2 years, and just love it! This is our second FCPS school, and I find that Oak View focuses much more on the whole child. The environment is so positive, and the staff is always going above and beyond. Every teacher I've encountered has been smiling and seems happy to work with children. We had no issues at our other FCPS elementary school, but after experiencing Oak View, I would never want to go back there. This is a true community and the way elementary school should be!

This is our 2nd elementary school. While it is bigger than our last one (in FCPS), I feel it offers more. There are so many after school clubs. Also, there is an AAP class, so if your child gets in, you do not have to send your child to an AAP center.

We have been to several schools, and have found this school to be cold and too much pressure is put on the kids. Poor leadership.

We have two children at Oak View. Like many others said, they do make you feel like family. The teachers we have encountered have been very caring and genuine, actively working with us to further the growth of our kids. And, even with a standardized curriculum, they have provided a level of customization for our children that has been outstanding.

Oakview is a great school. We are a military family and they really made us feel at home and part of their community. They have a variety of programs for the kids to participate in and the teachers are attentive. They also have a great Gifted and Talented program for kids that are seeking more of a challenge. I highly recommend this school. Plus, Robinson Secondary is right across the street and they also have a great reputation if you are looking at middle and high schools as well.
