As a parent of two students at Parklawn Elementary School, I would like to kindly request more attention to the management of school buses and student safety during transportation. I live in Skyline Towers Apartments (5601 Seminary Rd, Falls Church, VA 22041), and I have noticed that when students enter and exit the buses- particularly # PL04, there is often a lack of discipline, overcrowding, and sometimes even five students sitting in one seat. On several occasions, students sometimes stand inside the bus, which raises serious safety concerns.

As a concerned parent, I sincerely hope this issue can be prioritized, not only to ensure proper use of the buses but also to protect the safety and comfort of all students.

That being said, I would also like to express my gratitude to Parklawn Elementary’s wonderful management and staff. From the smooth registration process with Ms. Doris, to Ms. Khalida’s timely communication with my wife, and the dedication of the great teachers, we truly appreciate the support and care shown to our children.

Wonderful school. I have two children who have attended for two years. The teachers, principal, and support staff (such as the counselors and front office staff) were wonderfully well-engaged and positive. As part of Fairfax County Schools, there are Advanced Academics classes for high performing students, Spanish language instruction beginning at least the 3rd grade, and options for students to participate in strings, band, chorus and electives in art and music. There are also some great after-school programs such as running club and garden club. The student population is wonderfully diverse & enhance my kids' education.

Great teachers and good programs to support academic progress. Wide swath of student cultures and economic levels. Has to be one of the most challenging schools for a teacher. Second grade class of 22 students had 6 native languages spoken (English, Spanish, Korean, Farsi, Arabic, Somali)...tough to keep the class advancing together.

This school needs more to work on the quality of education and the community is good but not enough participating in PTA.

My kid loves this school. They have fantastic principal and teachers. His classroom teacher is terrific! She appreciates each kid's diversity and uniqueness, and encourage them to challenge. My son said he has the best teacher ever in his life. He attended another school rated 10 on this site, and he had a traumatic experience. We are so pleased to see him enjoy leaning here now. Don't be fooled by the rating.

Parklawn has a very well-trained staff. The community is extremely diverse. Our daughter was given plenty of opportunities to be creative while at the same time learning math and English while in Kindergarten.

We have several years experience at Parklawn, which is just a terrific community school that serves the Parklawn, Lincolnia Heights, and Heywood Glen neighborhoods. The teachers are caring, encouraging, and challenge students to learn. It's a happy place that offers traditional and multi-age learning environments, a well-stocked library, technology in the classroom, and a local level IV Advanced Academics Program (AAP). The school also has several fun traditions, plus clubs for running and singing.

Our family has had an excellent experience at Parklawn Elementary. My child is in the Advanced Academics Program and her teachers have been outstanding. She has definitely been academically challenged. The school climate is welcoming, safe and positive. I don't hesitate in recommending this school to anyone; you will have a great experience here!

This school is alright however it does not challenge it's students in the best way possible. They do have PTA meetings, Bingo nights, and other events to try to get the students and their parents involved. Their after-school activities are limited and wish they offered more.

I've enjoyed working with teachers, principals, and staff at Parklawn. This is a great school with a great diversity of students. The new principal works well with all at the school. Please give Parklawn a chance it's a great school.

This School needs some guidance on how you speak to children. I have consistently witnessed children being talked down to and screamed at. This is not acceptable behavior for adults. If you can avoid it DO NOT send your Children to this school. This school may have been great at one point in time but it is far from it now. What a shame.

very low standard of education, the School's entire focus is on music and dancing.Even the advanced academic services are low, it's not a good place for challenging students.Students are into a lot of bullying and use bad language and spoil your kids.
