As an 8th grader I would not recconmend Poe middle school. This school some teachers are good but there are some teachers that are biased and no matter what will try to fail you. Students at this school don't care about their learning and fight in the hallways. There are some incidents where there was drug-related cases. In my opinion, do not send your kids to this school. Instead send them to Glasgow or Luther Jackson. The students are way better there and the proficiency rates are way higher.

Poe Middle School is one of the worst schools in Fairfax County. In my experience back in 6th Grade for example , a student made death threats to me every day in English class, but some teachers I had were nice and supportive

If your student has head lice or are concerned they even might, they treat you like a second class person and talk down to you like you're an idiot. The school nurse had to call me several times to discuss the issue that I had already had a handle on. They told me they didn't see lice--cause I got rid of it. Hello?!?! Also, they give kids charges with computers and no way of marking it as theirs. Charges get stolen and next thing you know--they want $25 from you. Absolutely ridiculous. I bet they have a whole drawer full of chargers they find "laying around" by students, yet still want parents to pay $25. I will say I love the band director, and is the only reason I am giving 3 stars.

I am in 8th grade and have been t this school for 3 years. I n my experience, the safety during 6th and 7th grade was... not good. But, during 7th grade there was this HUGE fight and I mean HUGE. So huge that they changed the whole schedule so there were less people in the hallways, and that was that. Now, in 6th and 7th grade I had problems with my attendance, I was just late every morning. So they did nothing until late 7th grade, like 4th quarter 7th grade. They gave me after school detention. For TARDIES. Instead of sitting down with me and my parents to try and find a solution they gave me detention and it didn't do ANYTHING. Don't worry I fixed the problem myself, no thanks to Poe, but the theater department is very supportive. I am biased on that though. Overall, the experience was decent but there was a lot of meltdowns along the way. There is a lot they can improve on, but its fine I guess.

I'm an 8th grader, my three years here have been okay to say the less. our main power is outstanding personalty. there are a few kids who will rise above our station. but the school doesn't help at all.

I personally did not have a great time in this school. It wasn't a grade thing, it was more on the administration's end. I felt like I got treated like garbage and my friends felt the same way. We were looked down with condescension. Just because we were kids doesn't mean you can see us as nothing just because you're in a position of power.

I'm currently going to this school, here's everything that's happening.
the staff need to do things with like fighting because they take actions kinda slow and don't really punish the student. Another thing is they don't do anything about kids on the bus, when they do something bad. Learning overall ok :) 6/10 met lots of new friends and counselor very kind and there's a therapist in the school, most teachers are kind. and its definitely a school I could recommend

My child is a walker and she has had trouble crossing the street because cars were stopping at the stop sign but not waiting for students to cross the street. There was a police car at the intersection the very next day and the days after.

My interactions (for my daughter) with the staff at this school has been better than when she was at a private school. They are engaging and take timely action when necessary. I would recommend this school.

The teachers make themselves available to students during lunch time. Additionally, this school has a wonderful after school program for extra help and other activities.

My daughter was bullied all through 6th grade, I spoke with principal and it still continued. Girls even put things in my kids hair! They don't know what their doing when it comes to bullying ! They just call it teasing !

I'm a former student and I have to say this was a great school and its got even better over the years that I have lived here. I will always believe this if it weren't for the great teachers of the school I wouldn't have made it through. Even the Guidance counselors are the best they listen with an open heart.

Poe Middle School is the best!!! I am currently in 8th grade right now. This school is so unique in its own ways. The teachers,students, and staff are beyond great and fun(:
