The Governor's School @ Innovation Park

The Governor's School @ Innovation Park is not an elementary school. It is a magnet school for Juniors and Seniors in high school. It's a part-time program that your child must apply for in their sophomore year of high school and, if they are accepted, they will spend half their days in 11th and 12th grade doing intense science, technology, math, and engineering courses. This school is essentially Prince William/Manassas Area's version of Thomas Jefferson. The student from Forest Park who went to MIT is from here, as well as the student from Osbourn Park who was accepted there. The student from Hylton who went to Princeton is also from this program. Kids in this program are regularly accepted into Ivy Leagues and other top private and public universities in the country (or abroad). It's a fantastic program for any kid who wants to do stem. But, if your child doesn't get in it's not the end of the world. PWCS is a great school district. Only kid to get into Stanford from the district was not a part of this program.

Teachers are absolutely great. They are professors but understand they're still working with kids at the end of the day. Prepare them so well for college.

This school has a very college-based approach to homework. Most of the teachers are PhD holders and are part-time professors as well. For example, they will use the same physics homework system as some schools (like the University of Virginia) uses. They will also learn to study like top college students must.
