As a former student I have nothing but amazing things to say about St. Mike’s. Previously being in the public school system this school is so different. The teachers genuinely care and go above and beyond to help us understand the material. The courses can be normal, AP, honors, or dual enrollment. Even though the student body is small everyone is like a family and supports each other. For a small school they have awesome clubs and athletics. I also really enjoyed the prayer before class, bible studies, and chance to really grow in my faith. From what I see if any kids complain about the school it’s because they aren’t doing their work, which is crazy because of all the support the school has. Even the principal helps kids who get behind on assignments or are starting to slack. Overall, I had a great experience and it helped prepare me for college.

Do not work here. They will not value you as a person or your beliefs. And you were completely transparent about it during the hiring process. Even if you are apolitical and are secular but still champion their education and religious system within the classroom. Even though as a teacher being strict, fair, and treat everyone equally is not valued here. Thanks. The end.

The best sense of family of any school in America. I love Saint Mikes. The teachers care, the classes are challenging, the football and basketball teams are the best in the state. The kids are cool and you don't have to be afraid to show your faith.

I love Saint Michael. I transferred in after my freshman year from a public school and the school changed my life. My GPA finished above a 3.5. I was the first member of my family to go to college. I learned to be a great student, a hard worker as an athlete, and I found the Lord. Father Peter is an amazing Priest and I was not Catholic, but I learned what it means to have a relationship with the Lord, to be accountable and to be a better man. The teachers stayed after school to help me. My coaches worked with us year around. I went to Mass on Sunday with Coach Brown and his family when I was struggling. I still get texts asking me how I'm doing. I visit the school every time I can when I'm home from college. Saint Michael is family and I would not be on the path I am on in life headed for success without Saint Michael. I truly miss it.

Saint Michael has a tremendous sense and focus on family. The environment allowed my children to receive a tremendous education and also thrive socially. The focus on children's wellbeing has truly blessed us as parents. My kids loved attending SMHS and we will have two more attending soon. My first two graduates both are in college, both took honors and dual enrollment classes, and both have stated the first year of college was easy thanks to the education and preparation they received at Saint Michael. Also as a mom I was able to be involved in PTO, the Boosters and loved being a part of my children's lives in high school. We also feel very strongly that Saint Michael excels at keeping the world out helps us as parents instill morality and virtue in the daily life of the school. I give Saint Michael 5 Stars!!

The school is a wonderful learning enviroment! The teachers are kind, the classes are engaging, and my kids have learned so much in their time there. We're Catholic and we love that the kids have a positive place to learn and live their faith.

We searched Catholic schools for 12 months before enrolling our daughter in the fall of 2022 in Saint Michael. Our daughter has found the school to be an environment of faith, family and incredible learning. The class sizes are small, and the attention she receives from her teachers is extraordinary. She also has been given the opportunity to play sports, where she would not have had that opportunity in a public school. She has a close group of friends now and we simply could not be happier. The school lives its faith with weekly mass, challenging Sacred studies courses and bringing the faith to life through community involvement. The school has an extremely committed group of teachers, parents, support staff and we give Saint Michael our highest recommendation.

There are no words that would describe our feeling of deep frustration and disappointment from this school. It was January this year when we started searching for a private high school for our son. Since we live in Culpeper, we focused on St. Michael after they had said the bus service would be considered (for additional charge). From the very beginning, at very encounter, we made it clear to the principal and the school registrar that we wouldn’t enroll our child to St. Michael if the school fails to provide transportation service for him. In February, we received an email from the school registrar with the final approval of transportation, the decision made by the school board. From that moment, we started an application process that included paperwork, 3 teachers’ references, an essay, and an interview. It took us a while to complete all. Eventually, after the interview, we were informed that out son officially accepted so we paid the tuition fee in full and made many expensive purchases such as books and uniform required by the school.
On the very first day of the school year, we were shocked to realize that neither bus service granted nor the driver available. Instead of providing full daily transportation with the driver assigned for this role, the school initiated occasional rides performed by some of the school employees who did that on voluntary basis, without serious commitment or interest. As a result, almost every day we’ve been placed in a situation when the rides had been cancelled due to their various personal reasons. Nearly every day we contacted the principal regarding some problem related to the drivers, though, in the majority of cases, we were left alone with the problem and had to drive the child to the school ourselves that negatively impacted our plans as a family.
After 2 weeks of suffering, we eventually decided to withdraw our son from St. Michael and enrolled him to another school. We feel that the school could do more to fulfil its promise for us, for example, hiring a driver, all the more so the school could utilize any of the school-owned vans which are parked at the parking lot and not used. The school inflicted us emotional distress by its negligent conduct and turned out a huge disappointment. We’ll never recommend this school to anybody.

Do not send your child to this school. We were there for only a few months and it was a terrible experience on so many levels. First, there is high teacher turnover due to the fact that the school is financially unstable and relies on income from a Bingo Hall to keep the doors open. The teachers they do keep have questionable credentials. The building is a poorly refurbished fitness facility with makeshift classrooms. Their academics are unchallenging and there is little required from students. We encountered vandalism and theft by students and inappropriate behavior from staff, but when brought to the attention of the administrators the perpetrators were never appropriately disciplined. We came to find out very few families are actually required to pay the full tuition, which makes it hard to believe the school will be able to sustain itself long term. Do your due diligence before considering this school.

My daughter is a graduate of the SMHS Class of 2016. She was awarded over $80,000 in college scholarships, and is currently attending a Virginia state university. She flourished during her 4 years at SMHS, and had so many opportunities that would not have been available at a larger private or public high school. During her first few weeks of college, she told us that she was amazed how prepared she was for all of her college classes, thanks to the all of teachers and curriculum she had at SMHS. I have other children who are also attending SMHS currently, and also have friends who have now sent their children here as well.

My child was bullied in this school. Stuffed in a locker. Lunch was taken and books were hidden. These kids are brutal to each other. They are clickish and if you don't fit in, they make your life miserable. There are drugs in this school and the kids smoke cigarettes outside in the woods. How do they get there you ask? No supervision.

Most are not paid enough and allowed to teach in the manner the children can learn. The are held down by the administrative staff.
