We truly love this school. The teachers are incredibly caring, attentive, and supportive. You can truly feel how much they care about the children and their growth. The environment is warm and welcoming, making both kids and parents feel comfortable and supported. Sadly, we had to move from the area, but we are very grateful we were part of this wonderful community.

Springfield Estates ES has provided a fantastic learning and growing experience for my child over the years. I was impressed with the strong community feeling and the PTAs involvement throughout the school. The teachers and administration are supportive and maintain open lines of communication. This school has over a decade of experience being an Advanced Academic Program Center and their record of success shows as my child is able to thrive here. I have seen that the staff truly buys into the idea of a team effort to help all of the students succeed. The opportunities for enrichment and club activities are also a bonus.

My daughter just started 3rd grade AAP at this school this year so it may not be enough to write a full review yet. The administration has been great with regards to major communication and some of her specials teachers ( especially the library and music) go above and beyond to do all they can. Her teacher has been great so far with regards to communication and I truly think that she has the potential to teach the kids better. But the work given, even though the curriculum given to us looks great, is sub par. The whole idea of AAP is to challenge the kids so that they are able to discover their true potential. My daughter used to go to an immersion school with a rating of 4, but that school gave her more knowledge compared to what Ive seen here. There is a lot of noise in the classroom from what Ive seen on different occasions, and the teacher has to spend her time on trying to keep order before she resumes teaching. This wastes a lot of valuable teaching time. Somehow the school administration doesnt seem to help the teacher with this. Because of this, they didnt begin learning other subjects (than math and English), until a week ago. I used to give a lot of weight for test scores, but high test scores dont show academic knowledge or and low test scores dont mean academically weak schools. So before you decide on test scores, do your own research about the specific school, talk to the PTA, the principal and the potential teachers. Also see teacher turnover and the whole environment of the school. I believe that this gives more information.

We haven't had a lot of interaction with the principal or other staff at the school but it seems well organized and well run.

Our son has some issues with concentration (as do a lot of third grade boys) and she helps him work through those issues by getting him to redirect his energy and concentrate on his work.

We haven't heard of any bullying instances thus far in the third grade.

Our son is in the 3rd grade as part of the AAP program and his homework (while considerably more than 2nd grade) is well managed. He has a homework folder and his teacher is in constant communication. Ms. Montagna is awesome and we think she is doing a great job in her first year at this school.

Ms. Montagna is in her first year but appears to be well organized and gives honest feedback. She stays in communication through weekly emails to the parents and ensures the students write down their assignments in the weekly folder that comes home. Some of the home is online and computer based, which I think is also great for the kids because she is able to gather metrics that can help with analyses of individual needs.

Ms. Montagna is doing a great job with helping the kids to learn social skills as well as academics in her classroom.

So far so good. Since the AAP program only starts in the third grade this is our first year at this school, however we are pleased with the faculty and staff thus far and with our son's overall performance.

While there is some disconnect between the base school and the kids in the gifted program, our sons have thrived here. The principal is very caring and we appreciate the creative outlet the projects provide. We wish there were even more!
