I went to this school when I was in 7th and 8th grade. I'm in 10th now. The school is fine, there are occasional fights but they are easily avoidable by just ignoring them. The teachers (at least in my experience) aren't that bad and are really supportive as long as you aren't a jerk. The building is easy to navigate around and there is tight security around it.

I go to Twain right now and its probably one of the best schools ive been to the only issue I have is the threats students will make and how the school deals with it my friend got a assault threat and nothing was done and my friend was scared

I'm an 8th grader at Twain. This school is, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this, the worst school in Fairfax County. There's a stream of bigotry running throughout, and it's very visible to anyone. Special needs accommodations are ignored, bullying is rampant, some teachers are disrespectful and rude to students, administrators are often cruel and ignorant to students outside of the norm. Teachers pick favorites and are mean to the one's who aren't in that group. The school is frankly dangerous with incidents of fights that ended in student's getting hospitalized, barely acted upon shooting threats, fires catching due to cigarette usage, and a 'gas leak' that occurred last year due to a teacher being irresponsible in the home ec room. Sexual assault threats get ignored, and students have to constantly fear for their safety. This is a terrible school, and as a student, I think it should be shut down or entirely redone with new staff.

As a student currently enrolled in AAP here at Twain MS, I can ensure you that this is a decent school to go to. With activities such as the Student versus Staff football game and Kingstowne Cup happening in Spring, this is a very athletic school. It also has Tiger Fest for new students and Tiger Night as an opportunity to interact with the school community. The food is alright, just like you would get from most schools in this county and there is free or reduced lunch program. Here at Twain, you can expect academic opportunity for success as this school offers General Ed, Honors, or AAP programs for students. It also has a variety of electives, such as Engineering (If you want to design and build structures) FACS (if you are interested in sewing and cooking) and etc. If you are looking into this school, I strongly suggest you should consider this school due to its variety of electives and academic programs offered here at Twain. Go Twain Tigers!

In my opinion, it's the best schools and it's really fun to learn because the teachers are always trying their best to support you in learning. but in a fun way. there is no bullying or making fun of one another which is why i like it. there is no no homework. there is only classwork and if you didn't finish the teacher will tell you to don't stress about it. like they are making everything so easy in a friendly way. again in my opinion it's the best school!!!

Possibly the worst school in all of fairfax county. The teachers do not care. It takes them weeks to respond to emails or other forms of communication. The administration is unhelpful and do not step in to assist students who are struggling or need guidance. The school is ridden with bullying and violence. The kiss and ride is most mismanaged one you have ever seen causing each parent to sit for pickup or dropoff for 40min each day. The teachers lack the skills and desire to do anything more than the bare minimum if that. I do not know why the county has not shut down this school yet.

I didn't have a good experience at all. The teachers didn't teach and the students were mean and bullied people.

It seemed like most teachers just threw information at you and didn't care to explain what didn't make sense. I had a science teacher who gave open-note tests and quizzes throughout the whole year. I was not prepared at all for the SOL's and barely passed because of how bad they taught us. The curriculum was also a huge problem. I was in AAP classes and they weren't any different then regular or honors. Other students weren't challenged in AAP either. The teachers taught completely below the expected curriculum, and I am very displeased with the teachers here at Twain.

The whole school in general was just so mixed and dysfunctional. There was no leadership whatsoever and sometimes I just felt like I was in a prison all day. I am not happy with the leadership here at Twain.

Whether you had dyslexia, adhd, autism, anxiety, depression, etc, the teachers treated you the same as regular students. I know this because I have a learning disability myself. I even had conferences with all of my teachers because they weren't meeting the criteria on my IEP plan.

I got harassed by a kid in home ec. I was beaten up with scissors and it hurt. I even told the teacher and all the kids called me a snitch but I had to tell the teacher because I actually got pretty hurt and all the students laughed at me and called me names. I have also seen other students who were bullied because of their race and because of their fame and wealth. I don't understand why people can't just be kind; isn't kindness the new cool?

I was a 7th grader at Mark Twain Middle School but sadly I had to move midway in the year due to family related problems . I think its a great school with a safe learning environment and teachers are very nice.

I am a 7th Grader at Mark Twain Middle School. I think that it's the best school ever. It's soo much better than Carl Sandburg because we don't tolerate fight, bullying, etc..
