They use current research on homework to determine how it is set.

We've seen significant improvement in our child's academics, behaviour and attitude every year.

Character building is a key aspect of the international baccalaureate program (which the school takes very seriously).

The new principal has a very effective community building approach. Staff, students and parents are much more engaged and motivated under his leadership.

Accessing the gifted program is too difficult. Many children who need gifted services are left out. They need more staff to better service this group of students, especially in the lower grades.

The school has a very strong and effective anti bullying, behavioural modification approach.

Overall this is an excellent school with great staff. An increased budget is needed however to provide improved services to low income, special needs and gifted students.

My son has an IEP. This school has been amazingly supportive for him. He went from 1-2's and reading below grade level to 3-4s and truly succeeding in just one year.

This is an exceptional school with great teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors and parent involvement. While FCC is expensive to live in, I wouldn't move from this school district for anything. My oldest is at MEH and is having a similarly great experience.

Children are given time in class to work on "homework." Level of learning is the same without the added stress at home.

We love Thomas Jefferson Elementary. The principal is kind, caring, responsive, and a great leader. Our daughter's teacher is innovative and absolutely brilliant when dealing with our child's ADHD.

TJ is a wonderful school! One of the things I appreciate most are the teachers - their dedication, competency and creativity. TJ has a new principal (2016) and he is terrific! He provides committed leadership. The PTA is active, engaged and welcoming - they sponsor fun activities and support art, STEM, sports, philanthropy and teacher grants!

Fantastic school overall. Well structured. Excellent teachers. Unbelieveable amount of parent care and involvement in this school. Parents of students place very high value on education and help out a lot with classroom activities. I have been impressed since day one as to the quality of education at this school. I attended a very good school system as a kid and this school system in Falls Church City is far superior.

Thomas Jefferson is an amazing place. The teachers are dedicated, the administration is responsive and the atmosphere is friendly and nurturing. Everyone form the librarian to the PE teachers to the bus driver seems to genuinely care about the kids. I am blown away by the parent involvement not only in classroom activities but also in programs like Outdoor Classroom. My son is very happy here! And ultimately that's the most important thing.

I have a 2nd grader and a 4th grader at Thomas Jefferson and I am very happy with the quality of instruction. Each of the teachers that my children have had have been attentive to their individual needs. I'm very happy with this school. The parental involvement is amazing - if you don't respond quickly you'll miss out on field trips or other opportunities to volunteer in the classroom because there are usually so many other people vying for those spots.

Teachers are excellent and it appears that the school focuses on continued staff development. Also, in addition to quality, there is quantity of teachers and support staff. Excellent support for special needs and individualized instruction. Could not be happier with the school.
