Worst school ever!! My son is in kindergarten goes to this school has special needs but instead of supporting him and putting him in the program he qualifies for the school but they think the only solution is suspension. Hes just a little kid who needs help not punishment. Everyday they call me to come and pick him up for the smallest thing one time it was just because who needed to use the bathroom and couldnt wipe himself instead of helping him out they push him out and make it my problem. This school have no compassion no understanding and no real support for children who need a little extra help. Very disappointing and unacceptable!

Our son has been attending Covington-Harper Elementary since kindergarten, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. From the very beginning, the school has provided a nurturing and supportive environment that has fostered his love for learning.
The teachers at Covington-Harper are exceptional, going above and beyond to ensure each child receives the attention and encouragement they need to thrive. Their dedication is evident in the way they tailor their teaching to meet individual student needs, making learning both engaging and effective.
The school's curriculum is well-rounded, offering a great balance of academic rigor and creative activities. Our son has not only developed strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math but has also had the opportunity to explore subjects like art, music, and science in a hands-on way.
The sense of community at Covington-Harper is truly special. The staff, students, and parents all contribute to a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes the school feel like an extended family. We appreciate the open communication and the various opportunities for parent involvement, which help us stay connected to our child's educational journey.
Additionally, the school's facilities are top-notch, providing a safe and stimulating environment for learning and play. The playgrounds, classrooms, and common areas are well-maintained and equipped with everything needed to support a positive educational experience.
We are confident that our son will continue to thrive as he finishes his elementary years at Covington-Harper. We highly recommend this school to any parents looking for a place where their child will be supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Five trailers to cover the basketball courts. We should be adding play structures, not trailers. This admin had no idea how to to advocate for a school and its students and neighborhood.

CHES is a very nice school with teachers who care about the children. I really like how the school staff and teachers use ClassDojo to share information about school activities with parents.
It is relatively easy to connect and talk with the teachers and most of them are very responsive, giving us the opportunity to support our children's education in a quick and easy way! The in-person meetings are also very helpful as they provide insights into the academic resources available to help children become the best version of themselves.
Academically, my oldest started elementary school at CHES, we moved to another area for 2 years and my child attended Sonnie Penn ES (8/10 GreatSchools) and was among the top students. This gave me great confidence that CHES is a good school, even though it was ranked 3/10 ... at the time.

My son is currently in the 4th grade at this school. I had high hopes for a great experience because it is located in a nice community and a relatively new building. Unfortunately, it was not the case. The level of instruction is subpar. I do believe his teachers care about him and work hard but the level of instruction is far below neighboring schools in Manassas and Fairfax. If he were to transfer to another elementary school, he would need hours of private tutoring to catch up. The school is also unresponsive to parent concerns. The principal is all talk and no action. Until the school gets serious about teaching above the bare minimum, I cannot recommend this school.

This is the best school I have ever encountered. Everyone from the teachers, to the administration, guidance counselors, cafeteria workers, etc. is exceptional. I have volunteered several times and the students are well behaved, engaged, smart, and happy. I am impressed with how much my son has learned over the past year. This school is a 10!

I absolutely love this school. My son is in 2nd grade and has been here since it opened. The teachers are amazing. I have volunteered at several field days and have seen the way that teachers interact with the students. The staff is very friendly from the front office to the janitorial staff. I love that the school is very diverse.
