So I don't know why some of the reviews are so bad because for me, this school has been great. I guess your experience varies for different people. Some good thing about this school is that your teachers can either be your best friend or the worst teacher you've ever had. They're most likely gonna be your best friend if you just do your work and laugh at the cringy jokes they say and stuff. The worst thing about this school would probably be what some of the kids do. Some kids vape and stuff. If you're a snitch or just really annoying most of them will hate you. On a happier note you'll make some great friends and that one really close friend that will get you both in trouble for laughing. ANYWAYS I think the school's nice.

I put my kid in this school and one week later he told me that someone stole his backpack I was mortified and disgusted and the teachers are no better one teacher gave him an f for not turning in a pre assignment so I dont recommend this school send them to montross middle school much better

This school is ok at best. The teachers don't like working there, they praise days off, and say rats are in the building. The water seems gross, and the food is raw, and mostly liquid sometimes. The library is amazing though, the 6th grade teachers are great at there job, besides some elective teachers. Although I do hear about people having bad grades, I would say half the school is failing 1 or more classes, because of behavior. Kids argue with teachers alot, and if you want to have a polite and nice kid home school them, instead of sending them here

There's now 6-8th grade at the middle school. All of the teachers for the most part are nice and hel you for a better future

My son is really thriving at KGMS. He is getting excellent grades, there is a wide range of classes to choose from including some advanced classes, he was invited to apply for Governors School and there are plenty of after school sports teams options. The facilities at the school are nice and the Teachers seem caring and responsive. If I ever have to leave a message I get a call or email back the same day from the teacher.

I'm a student in king george middle school and it is one of the best schools ever i love it here I highly recommend this school the teachers are very caring for us students they have good ways to explain how to solve problems I just want to say they are trying to be the best school they can be

The majority of the staff genuinely care about student welfare and creating a safe environment. My child is not enthusiastic about attending, but thats not really expected at his age.

All of his complaints are about other students behaviors, which are often out of teachers control. Likewise, we do not always get to see behind the scenes of behavior management or consequences. Therefore, I do feel that based on what he tells me and what I witness, the school does everything it legally can to manage these disruptions.

the teachers only care about the class that they are teaching and not as much the students and their abilities to understand the materials taught in class.

If anxiety and stress is strong character than I guess but other than that it was a horrible school to attend and I ended up skipping very frequently just because of my strong dislike for the school

The principal and teachers were disliked by all of the students. As a student, I found the correction officer to be someone I could lookup to.

they just stick to the lesson plan and towards the winter and summer breaks we would waste our time watching movies.

My personal experience with leadership at this school has been up and down. It did get better when they switched principals...this was several years ago though.

If we had alternate choices, I would not send my kids to this school. Most of my friends homeschool for middle school because of the problems with the school. The bad kids that go here make it really hard for the teachers and staff to work with the average and good kids.

The homework situation could use some work. There would be days my kid would have to work from the time they got off the but to the time they went to bed and still not be done. He is a straight A student, it was awful...some of his friends just stopped doing homework.

Math class is very consistent and on point with reminders and sending the attachment worksheets as well. However, I have to chase down my sons World History Teachers assignment. I honestly cant keep up with what's homework or class work.

I think its absolutely absurd that if I do not stay in contact with teachers, as if my 8th grader is back in elementary school, they will just let the student fall behind. Not all of the teachers are this way, I have had great experience with most teachers in 7th grade and only a few in 8th grade. My son has not ever been anything less than an Honor and Distinguished Honor student. This year, I have to chase down homework assignments because some use the agenda, some do not. Then I ask and I get a response as "its on the reminder app" or "I have it on the KGMS site" or "Student was supposed to pick it up out of the bin". It is beyond frustrating. The particular class I am referring to is a High School credit, which I understand is a little more demanding, however, if you're going to treat a student as if they're already in High School, maybe the teacher is at the wrong school. You don't get answers anywhere, its a constant pass of the buck.

My child has habitually slipped through the cracks at this school. If I do not stay on every teacher, every week, he is allowed to slip without so much as a phone call or a warning. I have had only one teacher call my home, or send a notice home, in two years of middle school. He is the exception. The rules are inconsistently applied by the principal, and staff. I actually caught a teacher in a lie when questioning him about an incident with my son. My son has a learning disability, and I have to stay on him, and the school for him to get the work done. The worst was when he was out for a week with a serious illness. We made up his homework, and I dropped it off in the office. His teachers reported that they never got it. We made it all up again, and when he returned to school, I placed it in a nice organizer with each teachers name. Half of them said they didn't get it again. We completed the work a third time, and he still didn't get credit for all of it. Unorganized, and ineffectual!!!! Can't wait to be done with the middle school.

I must say that even though this school has been turned around by it's new Principal, the vice Principal is just HORRID. She was blatantly rude to my child and talked down to him as if he was 5 years old. My child is a bit of a trouble maker but they immediately jumped to the conclusion that he had a mental disorder and basically demanded that he be "treated". Whenever something goes wrong they are quick to blame him because he's had a few incidents. They make him miss important class time to sit in an office and wait. My child has also been LOCKED IN A ROOM when in trouble yet the Vice Principal said repeatedly that he was kind and respectful during the OSS process. I would NOT recommend sending your child here.
