They refuse to follow my child's IEP. Having an IEP does not mean my child is stupid so yes as the school administrators say my kid is smart but you still need to follow the IEP. Only here because of how the district lines are drawn and this is our assigned school.

This school was wonderful for my daughter's kindergarten year. She's not going back to this school this year, however, and there are two reasons for that. First, though, the teachers are wonderful and I felt my daughter's kindergarten teacher was sweet, patient, and kind. The administrative staff was also wonderful. The first reason my daughter will not be returning is that they changed the district lines in her school and the new school is actually closer to home than Hutton. The second reason my daughter will not be returning to this school is of a more personal nature that I don't wish to air on a public forum. Every person has a different experience and I don't wish to tarnish another person's experience with this school. As I stated, the school is wonderful and the staff, in general, are kind and caring people who truly wish to see their children succeed.

Hutton is one of the top schools in WA for many different reasons, ranging from their outstanding PTA, to test scores. What has stood out for us is the teacher engagement as well as the Principals envolvement in the kids lives. It feels like a community. We all work together with one goal in mind, to shape the lives of our next generation. My children are going into 1ST and 3RD Grade. We love the schools community, after school activities and the love of learning the teachers and staff are gifting out kids.

We have two children at Hutton - 3rd Grade and Kindergarten. Their teachers have all been excellent, hard-working, caring, creative and intelligent. The Principal really does know every child's name and is extremely visible and involved. The PTG is very active and welcoming. Through the PTG, the school is able to offer after-school programs in World Languages, Fine Arts, and Science. They have arranged author visits, and organize fun school-wide events. They also help fund technology needs for the school and do so much more. We moved here from a rural Washington school district and are so happy to be here. Looking forward to the re-model!

We came to Hutton Elementary when my children were in 5th grade and Kindergarten. They were immediately welcomed and felt as if they had been there from the beginning. I find the principal to be readily available to answer any questions that I have and the teachers to be very receptive to parental support in the classroom. We chose Hutton baed on the great schools score and I couldn't be happier with our choice. It definitely lives up to its perfect 10 rating!

Great school, great parents, great community, great staff (especially the p.e. teacher, music teacher, and librarian) ... looking foreward to the "new school"

This is one of the very top schools in the city. There is a strong culture of parent involvement. The principal works tirelessly to support teachers, parents, and kids. The school works hard to create as level a playing field for all kids regardless of socioeconomic background. We feel lucky to have our kids at this school.

This is not a good school for gifted children, high academic performers, children with conditions like asthma or parents who want to be involved. Teachers teach to the median and below, and they use their top performers as helpers but do not offer any enrichment for these children. The school building is charming but very old with a history of serious mold and use of toxic artificial air fresheners by teachers, which are prohibited. The principal only pursues changes that fit into his personal agenda and otherwise avoids any and all disputes/issues. Ex.: the safety patrol is not supervised by an adult but has to work dangerous 3+ way intersections that do not have signs. The principal made an agreement with the district to have an adult supervise, but there is no such adult. When I voiced my concern, I was told that it gets better in warmer months when the snow is gone. The principal has a "nothing bad has happened so far" attitude. An avg of 6 people attend the PTA meetings, and the same work horse parents are used year after year. Parents have no voice. Teachers have no voice but are protected by the principal enabling inappropriate behavior in favor of perpetuating complacency.
