I can't say enough good things about Jefferson. My kids have flourished here--GREAT teachers. When we found out we were moving to Spokane, I worried that we should limit our house search to the schools on the South Hill with the highest Great Schools scores. Fortunately, I talked with a Spokane native who said, "I don't think you can go wrong with any of the schools on the upper South Hill," (Jefferson, Adams, Mullen Road, Moran Prairie, Wilson, Hutton). Of those schools, Jefferson has the lowest "rating", yet it's a fantastic school with amazing, committed teachers who will spend their whole careers there. It is a beautiful new building with a great surrounding playground (beautiful tall pines) in a great neighborhood. One of my favorite parts about the school is that it brings in kids from both the ritzy neighborhood to the west AND from the more normal neighborhoods to the east and south.

All three of my kids have phenomenal teachers at Jefferson. It's the kind of school that attracts and retains top teaching talent. We've been blown away by the quality of teachers, and we have a a good sample size since we have 3 kids.

My daughter and I love this school. She has been attending since first grade and is now in fourth. She has always had a positive, energetic, and overall fantastic learning experience. You can always find the principal in the mornings and end of the day interacting and talking to the students. All the teachers I have met so far have been wonderful and very easy to keep in touch and communicate with. Great school!

My daughter has been attending Jefferson since 1st grade and is now in 4th. When she started she was behind on her reading and she was quickly given the help needed and got caught up to her suggested reading level. She now loves reading.

My daughter was having some difficulties with math, it was addressed by her teacher, given proper attention and she is now receiving the help needed.

Great school! My daughter started in K and is now in the 4th grade. She has had excellent teachers all the way through... dedicated to the kids, willing to communicate if something is wrong and go above and beyond to help when needed. My son just started K there this year, and his teacher is fantastic too. I'm excited that both my children get to experience this school. The Principal knows most of the kids and their parents by name and face, as do the office staff. They are respectful and willing to help with anything, no matter how big or small.

I have two of my children at Jefferson. One is in the third grade and one is in the first grade. They love school and look forward to each day. My third grader is doing algebra, reads novels, and can diagram a sentence. He has barley any homework (mostly none) and yet is getting a stellar education. My first grader is also doing things beyond my expectations. He does long division, geography, and botany work and blows us away with the amount of information he is capable of learning. He went from barley reading in the fall to small chapter books in the winter with the help of his teacher. She guided us with a plan on how to accelerate his reading and comprehension, and it was so simple. Again, little to no homework, so we can spend quality family time together after school instead of filling out busy-work. I love the "Character Counts" program that the principal has put in place. Each month our family follows up on the goals and the topics including respect, responsibility, and caring. Furthermore, the principal knows most of the 500+ children's and parents names. It blows me away how committed they are at this school. Love it.
