This school is very inclusive to all, whether it's from teachers or other students. You will always find a friend and you will learn things you would never learn other wise. It has an awesome schedule and interesting classes, I'm in seventh grade, been here since sixth and this is the best school I've ever been to.

There are high expectations but did not give support-- expected kids to just "get it" without giving adequate resources and a lot of kids felt bad for ever struggling on tasks because they were held on such a high pedestal.

the staff has changed since I have gone but when I went the teachers were there for you and acted as important resources for mental health and stability in a lot of the kid's lives,

The kids are isolated with other kids who are high functioning it seems like perfection until those kids go into the real world and shoved into highschool having never experienced a genuine public school experience. It leaves kids riddled with anxiety, without friends, and struggling to feel like they belong. It that develops grit then sure but it was a sucky way to get kids to grow.

If you don't learn fast and aren't very vocal when you don't understand something you tend to fall through the cracks and skate by, especially in a school full of high capable kids you have to genuinely hold interest or they will just slide through doing the minimum to get a good grade.

There isn't much bullying at all within the school

It was exciting at frist but when you realize you could have gotten the same classes and the same kickstarts in a regular middle school you realized you missed out on being a real middle schooler and experiencing sports, clubs and a large lunch room.

My child brought common core packets home that she didn't receive enough instruction on and couldn't complete.

My child had several missing assignments due to being hospitalized and fell behind after that. Not a single teacher reached out to me. I had to discover and initiate resolution. The music teacher was wonderful and enriched my child's experience.

3 phone calls and 4 days before I got a return call from the school counselor.

The teacher seemed frustrated when my child asked questions during our conference. The science teacher would not allow retakes.

The Libby Center's staff is a dedicated group of educator's who work diligently to keep some of Spokane's highly capable children continually challenged in their education pursuits. It offer's parents an alternative to their child not being left behind in developing to their true potential. Although the children must return to their "home" school for most extra curricular activities, The Libby Center does an incredible job with the education portion.
