Manhattan Kansas is about the same distance from Ft. Riley as Junction City is, but Manhattan is a college town, home of the Kansas State Wildcats. Since it is a college town the amenities and attractions are much better in Manhattan. Housing is generally nicer but also more expensive unless you get in the lower income college areas. Manhattan is just as safe as Junction City (many people may say it is safer, however Manhattan simply does not release information on the crimes that happen there where as Junction City is very open about incidents in JC). I have lived in Junction City my whole life but we go to Manhattan a lot for shopping and entertainment.
