My son has challenging behaviors such as play games on his chromebooks in classes, , but teachers are really wanting to help him, such as replying to my emails, pointing the works he needs to do . inform me his behaviors, giving us suggestions, or even give him extra credit if he does anything extra.
School is located in very safe area with Fire station near by, police cars stand by etc. During this pandemic, my sons classes are open, so he has social interactions with other kids etc.

One thing do bother me is that he can play online games on school issued chromebook, but I do not believe Begich can do anything.

My child attended for 2 yrs before I gave up and moved to another school. Meeting with administrators really highlights the problems at the school. The principal and assistant principals are uninterested in speaking with parents to work toward any resolution that benefits students. After multiple attempts via phone and email and a disasterous 2 hour face to face meeting it became apparent that we were not going to resolve anything.

Teachers implement and enforce rules of their own making without following district guidelines or informing parents.

Students are disrespectful and disrespected. Teachers are unwilling to listen to parent or student concerns.

Posted: July 25, 2017

The current principal is unwilling to effectively communicate with parents in any regard. He is arrogant and ineffectual as a leader.

The administration does not want to hear about bullying and when they do, little to nothing is done to protect the student.

My little sister goes to this school. Yesterday her teacher refused her to use the restroom. She just got her period in the middle of class, had to sit through it and then walk through the halls in front of everyone with a huge blood stain on her pants. She had to go home and wash herself because she was covered in blood. It was humiliating and wrong. On top of that we called to ask the principal why she wasn't allowed to use the restroom and how they would feel if they were in her shoes and we got hung up on. Terrible experience.

We moved here in the middle of the first semester and my son likes it better than his old school from another state. The teachers have been very helpful, kind, and understanding of my son being new. Also, this school has wonderful resources, opportunities of learning, and great electives for a jr.high! For example they have electives on business management (how to run the cafe/smoothie shop) my son really likes the fact that they sell smoothies! All the staff seems top notch, very available, visible, and organized. They have to be, cuz this school has lots of students.

Begich is a great school. The Teachers truly care about the students and make it easy for parents to stay informed. There is a family community atmosphere in this school. My Son has been going there for 2 years. I have nothing but postitive things to say about htis school.
