Issues with violence and a severe threat involving a gun were not handled by school officials aside from a short conversation to placate my concerns when I showed up at the school following the suggestion of law enforcement to speak with the Principal. No punishment was issued to the offending student. A theft of my student's property, which a teacher knew about and confirmed by saying that he saw my student's property put in a trash can by the thief, was dismissed with zero consequence for the thief. My student told me students were being bullied often and teachers overhear, yet do nothing. Neither my student, nor I, had any faith in the school staff's support of a student facing issues with another student.
Grading in ParentVue always showed 0 missing assignments, but grading is extremely delayed, inaccurate or missing so parents and students never really know where they stand. The homework method is inconsistent, varying between handouts, Google Classroom, other apps, or a combination of many. This confused my student often. And some classes have so many coloring assignments required... not coloring to label things as an aide to learning, but actual meaningless coloring of cute little cartoon people or animals, and students get graded down for NOT coloring even if the worksheet answers are there and correct.
Many teachers are trying to guide students by threatening, yelling, sarcasm and demeaning comments/behavior. They will punish the class as a whole instead of the select few students who cause their stress. My student has had increased anxiety over going to a few specific classes due to these teachers consistently displaying an inability to maintain their tempers from previously stressful class periods or personal life issues.
Parent-Teacher conferences must be requested by the parent. Teachers literally showed ZERO interest or concern with my student who was struggling and never reached out to me. Parental access to Google Classroom was blocked, as well as using any outside computer, which I understand for technical security issues, but it made it difficult to follow along with my student's studies and assignments due. A few times, my student's final report card grade was posted before the major end-term assignments were even due to be turned in.
I'm not sure if this is just the way of the world of education now, or if this is just CDMS. As a parent, my experience with this school has been frustrating, concerning and less-than-stellar.

My child has harassed multiple times in this school and teachers do nothing every time. My child and her friends have talked about how many times she's heard sexual comments. She has been threatened and had rumors spread about her.

I wanted to like this school but all I saw was a decline for my daughter with little to no help from school
Posted: April 10, 2018
I find a lot of the times, teachers are behind on grading homework
Posted: April 10, 2018
Although there is a couple teachers who seemed to care about my daughters grades after we showed concern I don't feel they are monitoring it very well
Posted: April 10, 2018
My daughter was allowed to be bullied not only by students but teachers who imposed their political agenda
Posted: April 10, 2018
The principal promised thin gas she never delivered. Felt it was all talk no action.
Posted: April 10, 2018
My daughter was an A/B student before entering this school and after 2 years here she's an C-F student despite her high test scores
Posted: April 10, 2018
No my daughter was bullied and when I went to the principal with email proof, all my daughter got was a talk and no teachers were notified of the situation

I don't know, but my old friends didn't treat the children in my past classes with learning differences with respect

If there is leadership, it is probably not influenced by good deeds, rather of materials inappropriate for children, that once the habit starts, other students follow the leader
Posted: May 12, 2017
My old friends attend and their students get away with using profanity, and talk of many inappropriate material. They also don't enforce the rule of P.D.A and young relationships that are not appropriate are not put on pause on school premises. And bullying is not handled correctly.

The students talk about them with disdain for pushing them to their highest academic standards, but then again, that most likely means that the issue is the students, not the teachers
Posted: May 12, 2017
I can't say, I have never attended, but a few of my other friends have and they say how they have very little homework.

I am at the moment attending another school, Amerischools North to be precise and I have a friend that also attends here. That friend has a cousin that goes there and she's in 8th grade, the cousin. Now the month was March and we had already learned absolute mean deviation, and my friend was talking to her cousin who was an all A student, and turns out that the 8th grader didn't even know that absolute mean deviation existed, and this is a recent update from 2017

To be honest, its a good school. I'm starting to wonder wether or not the students who wrote some of these reviews went to the same school as I did. I went to this so called 'horrible school' for the entirety of 6th grade (small portion of 7th) and not once had I witnessed a student bully another with my own eyes, although I had heard some reports of bullying, it didn't happen often. The staff do a good job of trying to prevent that stuff from happening, especially the principal. The teachers are nice, the students behave well (enough), and the curriculum is good. Castle Dome Middle School wasn't the best school for me, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I suppose I'm going to miss this school, I only hope I'll attend one that is half (maybe three-quarters) as good as CDMS.

This school is the worst school I've ever attended. This school is made up of bullies and thugs. The teachers don't care about what you learn, all they care about is themselves. The schedule changes everyday so you might be late to classes. Mrs cheiffield tries to make this school exceptional, but with all her might, nothing happens. I was getting verbally, and written threats, and of course, all she did was talk to them, and they're on their way. Woodard was a lot better then this abomination of a school.

I'm a student at Castle Dome Middle School and honestly its horrible. the teachers are mean and I've already learned over half the stuff they're teaching .Also the schedule changes every day so its really confusing. Also my mom wasted money on the school supply list . A lot of the students are mean and bullies.

My child went here for a year and he really enjoyed it. He got good grades and has fond memories of the school, teachers included. I'm surprised to see such a low rating. I would have figured it to be a lot higher.
