Design Science Early College High School

Students do great at this school are the same students that do great at any school. Anybody that struggles is kicked out so that the students wont hurt the school's data. Students at this school already have a bad reputation. Universities are already on the look out for applications that come from this school. I know a lot of professors at various schools that see Design Science students as overhyped and unprepared for real college courses. The counselor seems to give students the easiest classes with the easiest professors. That is why they control the student schedules so much. When they finally get to a university they are not prepared and usually all end up at Fresno State or some other online school.

This school is very small so you need to learn to respect everyone because you are with them at least four hours every single day; nobody wants to deal with someone who they made an outright enemy, so everyone is chill and we all tease each other good-naturedly.

I had problems with learning in math because I am better at learning from the book than from lecture, so I decided to get a book in the beginning of each class and write notes from that instead. My teacher was not going to change the way she teaches so it's the students who must take action to improve themselves. It is good because it teaches individual responsibility.

The principal always figures whatever is going on within five minutes, I don't know how she does it.

I was one of the students that graduated from the 2nd class at DSHS. While admitting myself to this school, I was told and I understood the sacrifices I had to make to get a head start in life. Relating to the previous comment...... Even though this school lacked student involvements in sports, dance committees, art, etc, I felt it gave me a chance to discover myself and understand who I wanted to become without other surrounding influencing me to become someone I wasn't. I feel that the reason they did this was to gave us a chance to volunteer and participate with Fresno City College's activities.They did this to teach us how to become independent....To join other clubs or activities by our self without the help of staffs. All staffs are more than welling to help students and parents. Even though this school hasn't been around for a long time, I would recommend this school to parents who wants to see their children succeed.
