This school is draining. The math teacher is very not professional with her teaching and is not very helpful when students asked for help. Multiple students start freshman year hard because they said she doesn’t know how to teach. They went to the principal and reported her and that was no help at all. Many students transferred schools because they said the teacher and i quote ‘don’t know how to teach’. My child is always stressed out because the teacher told her to figure it out herself. Many parents that ive talked to said she wasn’t helpful at all too and transferred their kids last year. I didn’t believe it until a parent told me that her kid said the same thing. My daughter has been going there for 2 years and i’ve never seen her so stressed out. She used to be a bright boy who loved math.

I am surprised this school is still around. It used to be a pretty nice school (when my oldest attended). Now it is a bunch of disinterested students and a bunch of teachers that barely seem able to teach. My youngest regularly watches episodes of "House" in medical science class. They make the kids wear scrubs, but there is very little in the way of "health profession" teaching going on. My youngest will be switching schools next year so they can actually learn something.

The school is very nice and their approach to everything is great, ive heard students complain about there being no electives, it is a medical based highschool. It does not need electives.

I am/was very disappointed with this school. Some of the teachers were very nice and the small size was very convenient, but many of the staff members are very biased. Especially the principal. The principal showed extreme favoritism to her son when he attended the school and even when he changed schools. She bent the rules for him. She also had a tenancy to show favoritism towards students of a particular background. A few student would get multiple drug and aggression related suspensions and never got expelled or kicked out. Many students scream profanities and destroy school property, yet very little is done. A particular teacher spoke so much about herself that very little was done in her class, making the following year very difficult. There is a lot more I could say, but to summarize it, the students and some of its staff are very biased, the projects can have very short deadlines, there are a lot of projects requiring you to work with others, some teachers are heavily religion based, and punishment is not taken very seriously. I do not think this is a very good school.

My grandson has attended HPHS since the 9th grade, graduated class of 2014. I highly recommend this if your child is interested in the health profession or not. The teachers are great!!! The principal keeps up on events, testing etc weekly. I am very happy with the school as a whole. They have great sponsors, such as Kaiser and UC Davis, just to name a couple. It is a small campus, which I love, but they have the latest equipment to help your child. It is a great school and I am proud to say my child went there. My granddaughter will be attending there in the fall. Go Jaguars!!!!

I have two students in AABHPHS - Senior and freshman. This school is best in teaching as staff is very dedicated. This school is educating young students to become responsible citizens by involving them into Community work and lot of opportunities are provided to explore Medical fields so that students can make right decisions for their future life. If your student is hard working, he or she can definitely use the opportunities and guidance provided by staff. The school provides regular high school education as well as coaches in Medical fields. Even if your child doesn t want to go into Medical field at the end of high school, he/she will be well prepared for university or college life as well as future life at the end of senior year. Also, this is a small campus school which provides close interaction of your child with school staff. The students wear scrub uniform on four days of the week which I believe bring discipline in life. I would recommend to all high school age students parents to definitely consider bringing your child for a shadow day and checking out this school. You will not regret your decision for sure. I am glad I made this choice for my children.

I have an 11th grader at HPHS and I couldn't be happier! The types of experiences these students are exposed to are incredible! Some job shadowed a surgeon, interned at the Capitol, UC Davis medical students teach the kids how to suture pigs feet, all 11th graders are certified in CPR and First Aid, and they take the students to visit college and UC campuses as well as allowing students to start their college classes when they are 16 years old and get high school credit too. Most of the teachers put their heart and soul into the students and want them to be successful. It's a small schoo with a safe environment and they have intramural basketball and soccer teams along with dance and cheer and the kids can play CIF sports at West Campus so they don't miss out on that part of high school. I wish they had a school like this when I went to high school! Parents get involved, the school wants you to!

I have been teaching at HPHS for the past 9 years (since the school opened in 2005). I absolutely love teaching here - working with our students and staff members has been an amazing experience! I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else. We have extremely dedicated people on our campus and I am proud to be a part of it.

As a graduating senior this year, I have seen this school go from the good and the bad. This school is great for the kind of student that requires the kind of attention that a 500+ student campus needs. The classes are challenging enough to keep the average student entertained, while at the same time, students who require higher levels of instructional material will be wanting more. Thankfully, we are allowed to take classes at the local community college for free (with books) after sophomore year. The teachers are great and they know when to look after the students. Although the school is lacking in school pride, student organizations are looking to increase it. Over all HPHS is a great school with a bit of diversity. Students have been known to come from all over the Sacramento region and focus in their learning. GO CLASS OF 2011!

I graduated Health Profession High School (HPHS) in 2009. When I attended the school, we had a great variety of students and teachers. As an inaugural class member, I can only speak on the experiences I have seen at HPHS as a pioneering student. I had many opportunities to excel academically and prospectively. As students our opinion were heard and implemented. Great school at the time but, as my class graduated many good teachers and administrators were leaving; the academic progression at this school was coming to halt and we were loosing credibility as a specialized small high school.

I am currently a Senior at AABHPHS but unlike the other reviews mine isn't a good one....back in 2009 it was a great school i love our school til we started having issues with everything else. last year is when everything change....including our school hours and our schedule which everyone love and if you were already used to the schedule and system it really messed everything up...at first the school can seem like the right place especially since the teachers are so nice but the school it self sucks along with its management. And they seem to have a special fondness of allowing the students no freedom. I am more then glad to graduate from this school just so I never have to see it again.
