Daughter attended this school in elementary years. They instantly saw her potential and tested - she received "Highly Gifted" certificate that opened a lot of doors for her. The principal and the teachers are great in general!

The Teachers, Staff and principal are amazing! We are so grateful to be able to have our child go to such a wonderful school. We love the weekly call and email from Mr. Cory informing us what to expect the coming week. They also have Spanish and music class for all students K-8, and we absolutely love the teaching techniques in both classes! The teachers really care, not only about providing an excellent learning environment, but they also care about the emotional well being of each student. The communication between teachers and parents is excellent. This is by far the best school in the area. Plus the location is beautiful and most importantly safe.

Teachers need to reach a student before they can teach a student. Respect a student to be respected.

They probably don't give much homework because the unfinished schoolwork becomes homework as well, and since they don't really care if the kid is doing it in class, then you have to handle it.

My child met all agreements for credit recovery for two failed courses including missing lunches and staying after school three days a week and after receiving an A and a B was still punished for not getting a 2.0 GPA for two out of three semesters. Was stripped of all eighth grade ceremonial activities at the beginning of third trimesters.

My family was there for one year. The teachers weren't concerned whether or not my child was doing work in the classroom, as unfinished class work becomes homework, so it's all on you. They depended solely on Schoology to communicate with parents about grades. Don't expect personal service here. Principal doesn't seem concerned with teacher's lack of performance or communication. Superintendent has no power. No checks and balances at this school.

WONDERFUL school! We moved a couple times in the past several years and thus my children have attended 3 other schools (1 private) in addition to Newcastle. Since we don't live in the district, my kids are at Newcastle Charter (it's the same school/campus as Newcastle Elementary) and we are beyond pleased. Communication from the Principal and the teachers is superb. There are strict disciplinary expectations and homework responsibilities--even more strict than the private school we once attended. The students love the use of technology (iPads and laptops) in the classroom. Tutoring, the computer lab and the library are all available resources before and after school. Best of all, my children are happier and more engaged than they have ever been! In one just year I can tell their writing skills have increased (I believe they do more writing here than their previous school) and the expectations in all subjects are clearly defined by the Administration and the faculty. Yes, as a previous writer stated, the office may look a bit dishoveled, but it's an old building. The campus is in a beautiful location and I feel my children are safe.

We had great hopes that this would be a good placement for our children but found that what we had seen/been told about the school was a case of something looking great on paper and being much, much less appealing in reality. The schedules are erratic in the junior high level, the younger children have too much out of the class time for extra programs which seem frivolous, the office is unprofessional in appearance and demeanor, and the campus is unkempt. We will be going back to our home district next school year.
