The Montessori is in the name only, not in the classrooms. Serious issues with kids being bullied, and the school ignores it. The parent teacher conferences are worthless. Parental concerns are either shut down or just flat out ignored. IEPs are not prepared in a cooperative manner, the teacher will dictate what they are willing to do. The administration will ignore concerns and allow ineffective teachers to continue teaching, resulting in kids not being properly prepared for advancement to the next grade. When my children transferred to other schools they were found lacking in certain areas of their education, resulting in remedial work being done to bring them to grade level. Other reviews noted racism, I believe it is present, the comments i heard kids make were racist ones about Asians and Mexicans and is a sign that they learned it from their parents. Its reflection on the community that is sending their kids there, thinking they are getting a private education experience for free, but it is no different then a public school or possibility worse. At least in public schools you have oversight by the school board that you can raise concerns to. CMP is a take it or leave it type of school...

I have two children currently attending CMP Shingle Springs, one in TK and one in second grade. Our experience so far has been positive overall.

The Montessori model has worked well for our family. Both of my children have become more independent and confident in their learning. The classrooms are calm and focused, and the teachers we have worked with have been kind, consistent, and communicative.

There are areas that could be improved. The school grounds and facilities are functional, but some parts of the campus feel worn and could benefit from more upkeep. I understand that charter schools often operate with limited funding, but continued attention to the physical environment would make a difference.

Parent involvement is a regular part of the school culture. Families are asked to contribute volunteer hours and help with small costs like workbooks. In our experience, these requests are framed as ways to stay involved. We have always felt we could contribute in a way that worked for us.

When concerns have come up, whether academic or social, staff have generally been responsive. The school promotes monthly themes related to positive behavior, and we have seen efforts to reinforce those values in the classroom. Like any school, there is room for growth in how certain situations are handled.

Overall, we have found CMP to be a good fit for our family. It has its challenges, but our children feel comfortable and supported, and we have seen steady progress in both learning and social development.

I wish I could go back in time and never enroll at this campus. The CMP in Fair Oaks was way better and organized than this campus. My kid had 4 different teachers in 5/6 grade alone, they dont stay long. The new Principal is really passive aggressive and if you are not one of the " it" families prepare for your kid to have a hard time here with all the middle school teachers and Principal Meece. We have wasted enough time With the teachers who do not care about your kids learning. They actually dont even pay attention to if the kids are doing any work or not. Even in PE my kid gets constant F"s even though they are participating. I feel maybe some of it may be discrimination seeing as how she is one of maybe a dozen non white students. Save yourself the heartache and headache and find a school that cares more about the needs of the students than them just being money in the seats.

I am a middle schooler here, and me and a bunch of other kids here agree that this school is really bad. Let me explain, the middle school teachers are on a different level- they dont really care about their students unfortunately. The way they teach things here are also very confusing. They have this thing called Common Core Math which even my parents cant help me with. They also use an online digital program called Iready to determine your level in math and reading, which is horrible. Please, dont bring your kids here unless you want them to struggle MORE in school.

Just got terrible news that this school is discriminating against a special needs little girl, as a special needs parent and someone who cares deeply about the fair treatment of our kids. This is completely unacceptable. This family was approved exempt from wearing a mask at school because of health reasons cleared by a MD. The school approved this request but only at their terms. She must sit in a plexiglass cube away from peers or outside. Yes OUTSIDE! What in the world is going on at this school? You should be ashamed of what you are doing. Special needs children have an uphill battle from birth and all we ask is for them to be treated the same as any other Child. As I said shame on you. This cannot and will not be tolerated.

CMP has assemblies focused on different aspects of being a good person each month. However, these assemblies do not seem to help the bullying problems that is a constant at on campus.

CMP is good at lip service and not so good with follow through. One word to sum up Administrators, politicians.

CMP does not have the resources or funds that one would find on a bigger public school campus. So many kids with learning disabilities leave this school because there is very little support for them.

CMP has a bullying problem and the small student population makes it nearly impossible to escape. Unfortunately, admin seems to have a hard time holding bullies accountable for their actions.

Too much HW for K-3rd grades. Monthly oral reports that are cumbersome. 7th & 8th graders are required to complete 30 hours of volunteering in the community and 30 hours of interning at a local business to participate in year end field trip. Be prepared to drive your child around on your own time to complete these hours.

Some teachers are awesome, others are on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. The good teachers are requested by parents ‘in the know.’ Also, teacher’s who have children attending CMP, have priority in the good teacher classroom. CMP does not pay their teachers well, so there is a constant turnover due to them seeking better paying jobs.

Be prepared to open your wallets because this school is underfunded. Then watch as your hard earned money you donated to them is flushed down the drain, i.e. The Field of Dreams, which is now a field of weeds. They do not have the resources needed and are constantly asking parents for their time & money.

Parents are required to volunteer 40hrs at the school for one child attending & 70hrs for two or more. They will also ask for a $20-25 contribution for a consumable workbook for your child(ren) and if you choose not to contribute, you will get a bill stating and overdue balance. Both of these requirements are illegal in California according to California Education Code: Section 49011.

In addition to squeezing you for all you are worth, be prepared to not get support from administrators when you need it. There is a serious bullying problem on this campus and the administration does little to combat the issue. As another reviewer stated, “consequences & follow up for misbehavior are few & far between.”

There is also a huge conflict of interest when it comes to the number of teachers & administrators who have their own children attending this campus. These students have a higher priority when it comes to classroom assignments, they are placed with the teachers who are highly sought after. Discipline for these students is almost non-existent as well.

Bottom line, NO I do not recommend enrolling your child at CMP

There were rumors spread all around, and I do not want my child growing up in an environment like this. I am currently moving my child to Herbert Green, CMP was clearly a mistake. My family was dishonored and verbally attacked. Please, do not go to the money-grubbing people.

This school is outstanding! They have over 300 on a waiting list for many good reasons. The teachers are dedicated and very good at what they do. I've had a son and daughter at this school for the last 4 years and feel very blessed they have had this opportunity. The school lets the kids accelerate at their own level. If they are not up to par in an area like reading, they highly recommend after school classes or tutoring.. They do not tolerate bullying, even though it does happen. They require parent participation. Their test scores are higher than the public school across the street across the board. Our children are very fortunate to have such a great public charter school in their back yard! Also highly recommend Patti's preschool Montessori on Mother Lode to get the kids ready for the concept of jobs and Montessori learning.

Personally,I am not happy with this school and my child is very unhappy as well. For one the teachers are unkind and uncaring and have no respect for the students yet demand a lot of respect. The have an unfair judgement towards certain students including my child. I am not fond of the teaching methods. I gave this school one star because my child does like the field trips, other than that I would not recommend this school to anyone.

CMP Shingle Springs is a great school. Every child gets the individual attention they need, while also learning how to be part of a group. Students are truly taught a love of learning and the teachers are amazing. We have been at CMP for two years now and it's been wonderful to watch my son love to learn and go to school. No cliques, or bullying, very little conflict from what I've seen. Lots of field trips and education from outside the school, such as firemen, police, animals/critters, etc,etc. If you love the montessori method, you will love this school.

Moved my kids from a top rated elementary school in El Dorado Hills. The teacher/child ratio is low. I love their techniques. Kids are empowered and taught conflict resolution. They focus on character building as well as education. Best decision I've ever made! CMP Shingle Springs has created a great culture for learning. Never once have my kids come home said, "Mom how come I don't have ____" They did that a lot when at their other school.

Academically this school does have great programs for the children and the field trips are many and fun. However, the consequences and follow ups (if at all) for misbehavior are few and far between.
